I about 5% are really good, about 5% are horrible and should have been dump before packaging and the rest of the 90% tastes pretty much the same and are as boring as all hell.

He likely has scurvy and needs a good ration of old fashioned Royal Navy rum....

You forgot that 90% of them are overpriced as well.

The classic Vermont IPAs (Second Fiddle, Sip, Heady, etc.) that don't really qualify as NEIPAs are all better and have held up nicely over the years.

I think mainly palate fatigue has played a role in me souring on this style. But man, there are so many bad ones and others that are riddled with hop burn that "need more time".

Good on you for getting vaccinated against the NEIPA virus.

More people need to be reminded of this ... I was diagnosed with Focal Topper syndrome years ago and there is no cure.

I have no issues with NEIPA, even the really turbid and floatie ridden ones. On occasion I can handle one or two and nobody is obligated to drink them.

What irks me is (mentioned in the West Coast IPA thread) that the murk and cloudiness is creeping into styles where it don't belong.

I like EC. I like WC. I like some hazy and others I do not. Is there an over abundance? Well there is no denying that. However as previously stated I don't wait on lines, no FOMO, no hype and I like lots of can art but it has zero to do with my purchase of a certain beer. There are lots of shitty ones as well. Trades? Yes, but anything and everything is on the table which is why I love the BIF format. I do like them but will pull in the reigns with a fine lager, stout or BBA stout when I feel like it. I will not paint myself into a corner with all the brewery options available currently.

They have held up for sure, and I love any chance I have to enjoy these original Vermont imperial IPAs. I do enjoy the best NEIPAs just as much though.. Regarding this, I am glad that BA categorizes Second Fiddle and SoS as American Imperial IPA, and not NEIPA. Now, if only BA will change Heady to an American Imperial IPA..... Just my opinion....

    Agreed.

Heady, Second Fiddle, and Sip are the same style of IPA.

Now Fiddle Head IPA is a true New England IPA...but they won't can it.

so which brewery will be the first to make a tongue-in-cheek can label about this (coronavirus/covid), have it backfire, and face a social media backlash?

    My money is on Melvin.
