Thinking of trying to pick up some of this in a trade...can anyone give input as far as what I should expect to have to offer up for a 4 pack or so??

There are no "beer Becketts" to know a beers "worth". Just put up an ISO and find out. If you don't get any responses either the right person hasn't seen your ISO post, or you're not offering up enough.

Yeah, I guess you're right...suppose I was just hoping to hear from someone who had recenty completed a trade involving this beer.

was this the barleywine? the hoppy one? if so, it was past it's prime a year ago IMHO.

That's not helpful for one, and not necessarily true either.
I think you had some valid points; you do often have to just put out an ISO and see who responds. That being said, if you put beers in the FT on a similar caliber you're likely to get more hits.

For Nemesis '10 it was a little less well received than the '09, but I thought it was still pretty good. It ran around $20 a 4 pk, and people may still be holding on to some. Some limited shelf locals may snag you a couple of bottles if the right person sees your post.

How do you gauge "similar caliber"?? It's your opinion on what you think a beer trades for. There is no set value for beers. I could trade a bourbon vanilla dark lord for 6 bottles of Pliny if I wanted to.

That's a silly analogy and you should know that.
It factors price allocation, rating, vintage, distribution, etc.
Just as an example, you may be able to pull nemesis '10 with RR or other west coast semi-limited stuff. Basically any limited release that would tickle the fancy of someone sitting on a few bottles that wasn't a fan.

Could you get a few bottles for off the shelf locals in the same distribution as someone with Nemesis? Maybe, but not likely to happen, much like the Pliny for BA DL scenario.

A main purpose of this forum is to help out potential traders, not tell them "I don't know, put out an ISO"

Just my opinion, not trying to stir things up.

That's my point, and it's not silly at all. Just because a beer is rare, expensive and doesn't see wide distribution (brewery only release) doesn't mean it's a spectacular beer worth trading the world for. Someone may make a trade that seems lopsided to most based on many factors. Maybe that person is sitting on multiple bottles.....maybe that person just doesn't want to do the legwork to land a certain beer....maybe that person is just very generous. Point being, just make an ISO:FT and find out. You even said in your first response, it might get done "if the right person sees your post". Don't go based on what everyone on BA thinks is the "market value". Go based on your own value and work from there.

I think that it's much better now than when it was released.

You could do a lot of things. Instead of pointing out to the OP that 'anything is possible,' why not say what is probable/forseeable/likely to happen?

And where or how by chance would you settle on "your value"?Yes, there are exceptions to the norm and to the "rules" (not that there are formal rules to beer trading other than what the bros have laid out for this site), but you are more likely to be successful if you put out a specific post such as ISO Nemesis '10 x2 FT: Imperial Biscotti Break (or whatever)

Look, It was not my intent to get into a back and forth about assigning value to beer. More simply kbuzz posted a thread in a forum titled "Beer Trading General/Help" looking for specific advice or help regarding a specific beer, and I think it is more helpful to provide specific info---ideally someone to say what they recently traded for Nemesis '10.

Btw, I'm just waiting for Pahn to wade over to this thread at some point

I traded away 3 Nemesis for an Imperial Biscotti Break - thought it was fair. Others went out as extras - this was one of the first ones I really went looking for and ended up with a ton of it - down to 3 now.

If he knew the value of what he had, why would he have made this thread to begin with? To gauge the value of what others attribute to the beer. So if you can't help with that, why post?

Disagree completely. I've opened a couple over the past few months, and it's better than ever. So thick that you could plug a hole with it.

I think Nemesis will trade $4$, with a slight "rare" factor. Probably comparable to a 4-pack of KBS.

It was not as sought after as the 2009 Nemesis and I can't recall it trading for anything rare. I see the 2009 come up in ISO posts sometimes, but I rarely see the 2010 come up.

Personally I was not too impressed and gave all mine away as extras.

I wasn't either. It's gotten a lot better, though. I found the hops distracting when it was fresh.
