hah. suffice to say, i think the "offer what you're willing, 'offer more' if it doesn't get done and you still want it," is the most helpful, or at least equal / close second behind a set of anecdotal "i traded X for that / i traded it for X." also slightly helpful but way behind is people saying what they would trade it for / trade for it, which jumps right up to maximally helpful if they're making a serious offer.

the anecdotes don't take into account who you're trading with, time period, and of course all the nebulous relative value stuff that determines who holds onto what. it's a start though.

    ---

edit: supplying stuff like bottle counts, anecdotes about the release and what it entailed, info about the brewery itself, that stuff is all helpful in a way. making the jump to inferring what those things mean to trade value is usually unhelpful unless it's really general.

also, for locals / very "light" valued things, asking trade value is very helpful. so too with extremely valuable things that you can't trade the new brewery 1-off for, ever. everything in between, vast majority of responses you can get to "what is the trade value?" are simply worthless, whether we want to believe those answers are what this forum is here for or not.
