As usual I'll be sticking to UK only unless someone alerts me of a US cask that I must try. As for the two beers from Mahrs Bräu ... very temped to drink mass quantities of both.

Looks like I'll be there tomorrow night and the Friday Industry event.

Holy cow look at those lists! I'll be there Friday night and also like to stick to the British casks. I definitely want to try the German beers as well and there are a few on the US I want as well. Hopefully they'll wait and serve the best stuff until I get there.

Tickets are only $15 per person? Is there a drink limit or is it pay as you consume? Im on my mobile, so the answer might be staring me in the face and i just dont see it.

Admission to NERAX does not include beer or samples. At NERAX you purchase beer at a cash bar. Our beer prices are:
    $6 for an Imperial pint
    $3 for a half pint
    $2 for a quarter pint

Beers and ciders of 7-10% ABV are limited to half pints, which will be $4.
Beers, ciders and mead over 10% ABV are limited to quarter pints, which will be $3.

There is a $5 refundable deposit on your festival glass.

I have tix for the last session (Saturday night). First time making it to NERAX. I saw that admission is cheaper Saturday night - I assume because there's typically less beer available by then? Has anyone gone to the last session in the past who could give me an idea of how much is typically kicked by then? I'm not really concerned, just curious. I realize beers become available/bright at different times.

Was hoping to see Buxton on this list...

I went to the Saturday Day session in November, and had a similar question last time. There was plenty of beer Saturday day. I can't comment on Saturday night, but there appeared to be plenty left for that session as well.

However, it was less packed then I remember when I went a few years ago back when it was held at the Dilboy Post.

There was plenty of beer on Saturday night last year including Hill Farmstead Edward.
I will be there Thursday and Saturday afternoon at least.

Damnit, you're not supposed to say anything! Now everyone will know. J/K, of course. I'm going Thursday and Friday. Been going this nights for a wile now. Got in the habit when there were no limits on people and never changed. For those going Sat evening, don't worry, they've been holding back some good ones for that session for a while - in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they hold Edward off till Sat nite.
I am looking forward to a lot of brews this time- there are a lot of new beers and new breweries this time.

I am going to try to avoid the Black Dragon cider, last year we were chasing that dragon ... I believe Todd and I made some snake bites. :grimacing:

Can someone enlighten me as to why they charge admission and you still have to pay to drink? Even if you get one free drink or get to keep a souvenir glass, that would be nice. For $15/$17 it doesn't appear you get anything besides the right to be in the room.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here. Trust me, I appreciate that there is no other chance in America - and even very little in England - to be among such a wide variety of quality, cask conditioned real ales, but where are the admission fees going? If there is a legit reason why they charge to get in, such as operating costs for CASC or for a donation to the AmLeg post, I feel like it should be made crystal clear on the site.

Operating costs as far as I have always understood it. It isn't cheap to get those beers here plus storage, etc. it can be expensive. Learn to buy quarters and only go larger when something stands out also veteran pouters will give an extra ounce or so once they know you. It is at times a once in a lifetime to try some of these beers and the many gems I have had over the last 12 or so years going it is worth it.

I'll be doing 1/4 pints for most of tomorrow night because of this until I hit palate fatigue ... then I play kick the cask with the favorite of the night. :sunglasses:

They have to cover their costs and expenses. I suppose if you compare it to a bar, you'd have to average the admission with the price of a pint, and drink 4+ pints to get a comparable price per pint. But if you compare it to other beer fests, you can attend a session, drink 3 pints and have 60 US OZ of beer for $33. Not bad compared to other fests. I think I remember in the old days they offered a "session ticket" to get in all the sessions for a reduced price, but that does not appear to be offered any longer.

Holy crap, this event looks amazing. I am so bummed I can't make it. Is it typically held at this time of year every year? Gotta start game planning for next year....
