Anyone remember this beer being mega yeasty when poured out of can? Just poured a fairly fresh can tonight and it's incredible the amount of yeast particles floating around in the glass. I'm not talking sediment: I'm talking huge yeast particles still floating around like asteroids 20 minutes after a not-vigorous pour. Anyone else experience this? Do I have a weird batch or is this just how this beer is?
Very strange. Yeah I don't remember it being like that either. Tastes fine! Maybe even better than usual...? But definitely home-brew level of yeast.
Been drinking these all month...I've yet to pour one out of the can though..will tomorrow I will add that JAWN..was better than the last round of Jai Alai to hit NY....imo
Apparently it's an issue that Neshaminy Creek has been aware of for at least 4 months, yet not too concerned with. The absolute worst amount of "floaties" I've ever seen in a beer. Purchased an entire case back in December of 2014 and every single can had this issue. Basically a 1/4 inch of gelatinous sediment remaining at the bottom of a finished glass. Now I know these floaties won't kill me but still trashed the last sixer from the case. Too gross for my tastes. I took photos and very politely emailed them to the brewery explaining my purchase of the case and my quality concerns. Received a lame response from the head brewer quoted below, offering nothing else. Needless to say, I have been and will continue to support other local breweries that seem to give a shit about quality control and where I spend a hard earned dollar. "we don’t filter any of our beers, and the large amount of organic material in our dry hopped beers sometimes makes it over to the cans if guys in the cellar and canning line aren’t doing everything they should to take special care in avoiding that. it happens from time to time, and we’re doing our best to eliminate it. thank you for your attention to this matter."
Definately plenty of yeast sediment in the last 6er I purchased but none of the large chunks ur mentioning. Just a lot of little bits, which I don't mind at all. And I gotta say that is a pretty awful response from the brewer. Total non-apology while at the same time admitting that the qc for their operations is not up to snuff. Sad because I've just been really warming up to this brewery.
cloudy yea....gelatinous i didnt see...if you let it sit and it clears up just like the tap water did at my grandmas in Bklyn brings back memories
@Lurkerson @DrRambis About 9 months ago I experienced a QC problem with a 6-pack of Trauger Pils. I exchanged a number of e-mails with the owner/headbrewer (Jeremy Myers). His response(s) were exactly as how DrRambis detailed of “Total non-apology”. I personally have not purchased another can of Neshaminy Creek beer which is a shame since when they aren’t experiencing QC issues the beers are indeed very good. I just wish they were committed to brewing high quality beer 100% of the time. It is popular on BA to bash breweries like AB but one thing that I admire about AB is that they are committed to producing their beers consistently 100% of the time. I cannot say this is the case for Neshaminy Creek. Cheers!
Yeah not to go into too much detail but I definitely had some...issues...the next morning after drinking a few.
@JackHorzempa Just to clarify, my email exchange quoted above was also with head brewer, Jeremy. I own a restaurant that serves over 700 people a day and you can be sure that this is not the way that I handle the occasional quality control complaint.
Cheers to you for taking a responsible approach in dealing with your customers. My interactions with Jeremy was a very unsatisfying experience. As I made mention in my post, I have not purchased another canned product from Neshaminy Creek since that purchase of canned Trauger Pilsner. For the sake of completeness/transparency I have purchased draft Neshaminy Creek beer in the past 9 months. IMO, Neshaminy Creek is capable of brewing quality beer but they have QC issues (from time to time?) with their packaging operation. It would be more satisfying if Jeremy was 100% committed to producing quality packaged beer but.... Cheers!
I'm not defending NC in any way (I like their beer, but I have no dog in this fight), but I find it amusing that few seem to complain about the massive amounts of gunk that end up in many Heady Topper cans... I've poured a few of those (because drinking from the can is just stupid) that were positively murky with yeast and hop particulates.
Got a mix 12pak from Otter Creek today...all this beer looks the same I kinda like the look myself...floaties and yeast swirles are fine in my book
