$12 seems high for a bomber of berliner weiss, but it will undoubtedly sellout. Those who weren't able to get one, take part in the New Glarus beer vote later this year and push the Unplugged/Thumbprint Berliner Weiss. For around $10 a four pack it's a much better deal.

Anyone know if there is any left at the brewpub? And if possible, an estimated bottle count remaining?

I SO want to say something negative about Three Floyds and the hype surrounding their mediocre beers on this thread...but some douche will report it!

No I get it. Three Floyds has a history of charging exorbitant prices for their beers. Well over what it cost to produce and well over what comparable products in the market are going for.

New Glarus berliner weisse was an awesome Beer. Although I dont know if the style is meant to be aged, it aged very well. I wish there was still some of that stuff to go around.

I didn't want to reply, but I couldn't help myself.

Since when does cost to produce have anything to do with what they end up charging for said beer?

Additionally, if they can sell everything they make at a higher price than what other products in the market are going for and still have demand massively outpace supply, then they are still undercharging.

I understand folks don't like their attitude, pricing, business practices, the fact that they ritually sacrifice kittens, but they are able to sell everything they produce without an issue. Why would they change anything?

    Food for thought.

    Cheers!

I had tried it last year at the pub, it is not a beer that I really feel the need to have multiple times, once was enough for me.

I agree FFF has brewed some mediocre beer (whatup brandy alpha klaus!), but generalizing their beer as mediocre isn't sensible.

If their beer is is drastically over priced, and there are comparable products on the market for much less, why are they always selling out? Why don't people buy the comparable products for much less money? How do you know their cost to produce the beers? Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it just because it is out of your price range doesn't mean it is overpriced. Why do you even care so much, just go buy a comparable product for much less?

Well we all have different reasons we drink beer. I enjoy a higher ABV beer most of the time. That seems to be how I equate value, but to each his own.

I have to dispute your second claim, a beer like DFH 120min or WWS costs alot but I can see why because they have to use so much malt and/or hops. KBS costs $20 for a four pack because they have to dedicate space for upwards of a year to store it in the barrel. IMO I don't mind a brewery charging a high price as long as there is some justification to the high price. I don't really like a brewery charging a high price just because they can. I do understand economics, but economics don't work if you piss off customers.

Secondly, Im not a homebrewer or anything but I'm pretty sure the lower the final ABV will be the shorter the time it take to ferment and get the beer all cleaned up.

And people complain about FFF's distribution. This beer, Battle Priest, etc prove people will go apeshit for anything they produce. All they have to do is produce a beer and sell it at their brewpub, no need to even think about distribution, price, etc. their beer will still attract flocks and sell out in a matter of a day or two, if not hours.

Don't get me wrong, I love FFF and just about everything they do. I'm just saying that they can do whatever they want. It's Three Floyds world, we're just all living in it.

Bingo! Double the price of DL and it will still be gone.

You might not, but I think the point is more that someone will. Given the way the Chicago beer scene has exploded, I'm inclined to agree.

Someone? Definitely. I'd just be skeptical about DLD sustaining itself "as-is" if they decided to charge $30 a bottle next year, but I guess that's beside the point.

Everyone needs to know my opinion. (sarcastic emoticon)
