In the event that a customer gets so pissed off that they won't buy a Three Floyds product again, there are 100 other people waiting behind them that will fill that void, and then 100 other people behind them if one of them gets pissed off.

I'm not sure how you can say that the economics don't work. There is a reason why it's called the law of supply and demand.

Wondering why it matters what the ABV is. Higher ABV does not equal a better beer. The style is typically low ABV and in my opinion perfect for a hot summer day. The price should be based off whatever three floyds wants to charge and hopefully the quality of the brew. Lower ABV beers can be just as labor intensive, if not more so and that can also back up the cost...look at gueze and lambics.

It's just my opinion that lower ABV beers should be somewhat cheaper. I guess it all comes back to me thinking value is higher ABV which is usually an indicator of more taste. But typically if something is high ABV it's an Imperial something-or-other, which usually equates to more ingredients. Although I do agree that the cost of lambic and gueuze is higher because of increased labor due to the spontanious fermentation (and blending), a berliner doesn't use spontanious fermentation, the sourness is from lactobacillus addition (from what I've read, again, not a homebrewer).

EDIT: Took out a late night rant that didnt make sense

You can add lacto, but you can also get it from a quasi spontaneous fermentation. I've done it both ways, spontaneous is a little better though. If they did it spontaneous, it was labor and time intensive and could justify the price, if they added it from a vial well.... Who am I kidding I bought a bottle and am dying to drink it, what's a few bucks? Shit I spent 13 or something on a bacon donut disaster that I knew was bad.

Sorry, if my post came off harsh. That wasn't my intent. Yes, Alpha King is definitely hoppy for a pale ale. I think we were making the same point in different ways. FFF rarely follows the style to the letter. There's almost always a twist.

Really? We're the "aliens who get killed by water invade a planet that's over 70% water" brewery?

My problem is when you have a beer labeled as a specific style and but goes somewhat outside the lines of that style. It can start to get a little confusing for people. If you can't stay in the guidelines, don't label it that style.

I am really just splitting hairs at that point as the BJCP judge in me comes out, because BJCP style ABV range for this style is 2-3.8 abv. Styles are somewhat subjective. Good beer is good beer, so who cares. Three floyds definitely proves that.

Makes a solid beer/movie or two early in their career, then spirals down with repeatedly shitty beers/movies?

I actually like what Three Floyds has been doing recently. M Knight... not so much.

I was thinking more along the lines of "dead therapist who follows around a kid who sees dead people, and still doesn't realize that he's dead until the end of the movie" brewery.
