Hey all, I am sure you are aware and maybe you have tried the New Albion Ale made by Sam Adams from Jack McAuliffe's original recipe from 1976. We are lucky enough to have Jack in Des Moines on February 11th and 12th. Jack will be touring the Des Moines market on those two days with events held those nights at El Bait Shop in Des Moines and The Keg Stand in West Des Moines. Just wanted to pass the word around. It's not too often a legend in the craft beer world makes his way to Des Moines or Iowa. Here is a link detailing New Albion: http://beerpulse.com/2012/11/new-albion-ale-by-samuel-adams-the-video/
Ok...follow up. I found this at Pleasant Hill HyVee in their mix-six section, which I was hoping to. This is actually a very decent brew, especially as it warms. Lots of fruit on the nose, which subtlety finds its way into the taste. Great finish and one I will have again.
It is a solid beer and yes, you will find it in some pick 6 areas. The thing people have to realize, this beer isn;t going to be a huge hop or malt bomb. It was one of the first craft beers in the county and it's just 2-row pale malt and cascade hops. Pretty basic, but when you were only used to drinking Budweiser, Pabst, and Coors, this would have been revolutionary.
