According to my 'Your Beers' list here I have rated 101 beers so far this year. I might get a few more in the next 10 days but not many. On average, about two per week.

I don't think of myself as a ticker, but that number seems kind of high as it equates to about 25% of the total number of beers that I have drank this year.

319 for me, I've been making the effort to drink outside of my home more, and I go to a monthly bottleshare that elevates that number a bit.

My review numbers are going backwards, as I have recently deleted a few of my own reviews.

I was not qualified at that time to make those reviews.. which should be based on experience, and more importantly.. knowledge. I plan on revisiting those beers again, so I can review them in a more appropriate manner.

273 and counting. This is smack dab in the middle of my average over the last 4 years (Between 250-300). I guess I'm nothing if not consistent.

206 new reviews this year - about 25% of my total too. In fact, all the posters are in the 25%-ish ballpark. Maybe there's some sort of cosmic constant at play here.

Roughly 220, was averaging 300+ a year but this year just didn't feel the need to try every new beer that came out. My FOMO is degrading, and that is a good thing

Looking at start of the year says I am at 1,218, but I revisited some stuff throughout the year. 1,190-ish is probably more accurate. 2 more days left until I take the usual holiday week break from reviews.

It's 246 for me, but will certainly go higher with 10 days left.

A quick check shows I reviewed 33 beers this year (I never just leave a rating -- in order to even figure out what number rating I'd give a beer I'd pretty much have to write at least a short review, since I'm much more of a words person than a numbers person... rating something on a 1-to-whatever scale doesn't come naturally to me at all.)

Apparently the number for last year was 43. So I didn't get around to quite as many this year, but not a huge drop.

I’m a total ticker. My average over the course of my almost 4 years on beeradvocate is 32 new beers a month. I’m lucky to have a very tolerant wife who also loves beer and a job that pays well and keeps me and my metabolism moving.

you should keep your origional reviews and if you care to do so amend them.

To be honest you can try to be professional and a few hounded people might understand it or just go with what you thought at the time which will help many more people than the so called experts or cicerones. Most people reading reviews are regular people trying to figure out what something is rather than someone "special" trying to scrutinize some ale.

Holy shit, I reviewed 528 beers this year, with maybe 20 being beers I had had but not rated... I think I need to slow down...

I made amendments to a couple of them. The ones I deleted were downright simple-minded and feeble. I felt it better to remove the others, and re-review on another day.

130 for me this year, and that’s low... I got away from writing reviews over the summer, got a little bored with it

I just went back and read some earlier posts, some of those numbers made me do a double take

    528
    638
    1218!!!!

That’s a lot of new beers to review over the course of a year. I’m not sure I have access to 1218 new beers, let alone the ability to review them

217, but I'm still new to this so a number of those were getting to try beers like Hopslam for the first time.

I agree very much with this because one thing that I hope for people to understand is that no one needs to be "qualified" to write a review on any beer anywhere on the internet. That's why the Bros opened their website up to the world for any and all to be able to review - the Bros didn't open up their website to only cicerones. Look at it this way - to those who think they need to "wow" the world with words - it's not about that, those people are missing the point to a lot of this.

However, I get this: everyone is on a different beer journey, many have already found their favorite flavors and styles, but if more people look at it as just a "beer log" that you can write your thoughts down on the internet, it not only can help yourself come back to see if you want that beer again, but others can read and decide if they want the beer.

I get that beer is meant to be fun and with that, many times many people aren't always able to give their thoughts on a beer due to circumstances, that's fine. No one should be forced to write a review, but if you know something, shouldn't you want to say something?

Also, I believe there are less than 10% cicerones on beer advocate. I can't prove that, but I'm pretty sure of myself. So with this in mind, who cares what anyone thinks of your review. Even if there are more than my guess of cicerones, why should anyone STILL care? They're not judging anyone's beer reviews.

One other thing I believe is that there are more "beer industry" folk on beer advocate than a lot of people think, just because they don't have the "light blue" badge underneath their user name doesn't mean that they're not. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them don't get the badge just so that people don't look at them the wrong way. But the fact that they are on beer advocate, I'm sure many of them are looking for feedback for their beers, is it really so hard to write one's thoughts on a beer on Beer Advocate? Not really, it really isn't at all.

Last but not least, to younger raters/reviewers - don't think of it as a review but "your thoughts on the beer that you drank." Nothing more, nothing less. It's a lot simpler than most people think. It's your observations.

I have often thought of doing this for a number of beers that I reviewed. Typically, I go back and amend them, particularly for beers that I have not had in a while (or whose ownership may have changed hands). However, by leaving the ratings in place, it allows us to look at how we viewed at beer at that specific time, which I think is important to a beer enthusiast. It helps to learn how our palates have evolved over time.
