Starting this thread for folks to talk about new style distinctions that should be available on this site.

I noticed that the lager styles on this site are very German centric. We have all of the bocks. We have Marzen/Oktoberfest, Dunkel, Rauch, Vienna, Schwarz...We have Helles and Dortmunders. All we have for Czech lagers is and this is a barely Czech but we have "Bohemian Pilsner." Shouldn't we have Polotmavy and Tmavy as options too? Perhaps others?

It took a while but in 2015 the BJCP finally recognized these Czech styles. They created the beers styles:

    · Czech Amber Lager (Polotmavý, Polotmavé)

    · Czech Dark Lager (Tmavý, Tmavé)

Just recently had to decide whether to add a New Zealand Pilsner as either 'Czech/Bohemian' or 'German' pilsner. Checked other entries that I know are NZ styles and their addition are almost evenly split between the two. The BJCP does have a separate style listing for NZ Pilsner, maybe time for BA to add it as well.

I would love to see these added to the site.

Do they have an Italian Pilsner style as well? Ive got to look up the NZ pilsner because what even is a NZ pilsner ...

No Italian Pilsner style that I could see. Look under 'Provisional Styles' for the NZ entry. The type of hops seems to be the biggest difference.

New Zealand Pilsner is not included in the official BJCP style guideline document (2015). There is a category of "X5" for a New Zealand Pilsner that was posted in 2018. Maybe this means it is a style under consideration for the next update of the BJCP style guidelines? @hopfenunmaltz

This is wild to me. I guess education on Czech lager has come a long way? Thanks for sharing.
Glad to see it has some mod support. I would think this would have less resistance than when we were trying to get NEIPAs as a distinct style. I realize that adding this won't happen overnight, but I think that it would be beneficial to the website. For me, it kind of ties into some of the discussion in the "Top 250" thread. Improving the style rankings could be a value add for me - someone who seeks out lagers.

Pale Commonwealth Beer (PCB) does have its fans.

That is marked provisional, and if it gains a following and is entered in competitions it will probably become a substyle.

How long before there's a Hazy Pale Ale added to the styles. Granted, I've only seen a couple.

My vision is compromised but my taste buds are intact. For me Hazy Pale Ales are their own category.
