    Good morning bleeding-hearted beer brethren,

Mid-MI is sunny (after 2 days of gloom & rain) and a high of 63F forecasted. We went from 80F hefeweissen weather (for a week straight) to 45F dank and gray KBS weather, and now back to good 'ol regular spring. After a bit of yard work, I've got a few new gems I've been waiting to try.

Friday night was a hearty beer night. My local (Soup Spoon Cafe in downtown Lansing) had Short's Aorta Ale on tap, and that really hit the spot. An 8.5% ultra hoppy, yet beefy amber ale sure did satisfy. Bell's Cherry Stout was tart, dark & delicious as always. Even raided the home cellar after all the fun at the Spoon and cracked open an '07 Speedway Stout, then finished the night with a fresh KBS. Maybe I was trying to erase the memory of my Spartans dismal display from the night before.

I enjoy Leiny's Summer Shandy in-place of soda.

Last night a buddy and I had some of the freshest Dark Horse Crooked Tree IPA I've ever tasted (outside of the brewery). Dag nabbit, if that ain't some of the finest the midwest has to offer. Said buddy also has Founder's Red's Rye on tap in his basement pub where we commenced to put a dent in his barrel. I swear, Michigan really knows how to showcase their hops. I will never take for granted this fine state's craft beer offerings.

Hopefully you all have a new beer slated to try for later today? If so, please check back with us AFTER you've tried your new beer/s. If you'd like to include the link to your new beer's formal review, that would be very generous. If you don't formally review your beers, but you feel inclined to share some colorful commentary, please do so. If you're like bitterbill and want to post a pic, go right ahead. However you do it, you're all wieners in my book. Good day and good drinkin'.

In the undying spirit of good beer,

    malty

Cool and cloudy here on Long Island. After a week of early summer-like weather it's back to reality for this week. The wife and I did some home improvement shopping and then hit the grocery store. She's preparing things for dinner and I'm relaxing with this beer from Boston Brewing Company...

I'm not a big melon fan but for those who are, it should be right up your alley.

Sorting through the "cellar" and culling out some beer the last couple of days to make room for new arrivals. This beer for NBS was a huge letdown. Tasted like an old beer but it is a beer that should of held up.

I feel very inadequate as I do not have a picture.

Back to reality in Central OH. Cloudy and mid-60's. Loving it but got kind of spoiled with 80's all week.

We heartily welcome Ballast Point to Ohio!

Hope you all are having a fantastic NBS!

    Cheers mates,

    Matt

    New AAL Sundae

Greetings NBSers! A lovely spring day here in the Fourth Corner, temps near 60 and clear, cloudless blue skies. There's a new mini-mart/beer store her in Bellingham, Elizabeth Station, with 5 taps and 11 cooler doors of beer. You can choose a draft or bottle to enjoy while you shop, or, like me, camp out on their Wifi and add a couple brews to NBS. Come check these guys out if you're in the Fourth Corner. My first brew today is also first beer from India: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/91/2970 . I cannot figure out why this system does that thing with bold fonts to me. Anyway, a below average brew, but there are more here for the exploring. Cheers all!

Damp and drizzly day in ocean county NJ. Watching NCAA tourney, some work e-mail and a few nugget nectars.
Then the new beer Sunday unveiling. Dogfish /head 75 minute IPA. Not a fan of the the 60 or 90 minute but this one is just great. Nice mouthfeel, just enough hops, light sweetness, fluffy white head, awesome beer, glad I was able to score two. Hooray Sunday!

May not be on BA yet, but theres a local brewery finalizing things. I was hanging out with them while they were brewing their porter, and they gave me samples. they poured me their West Coast PA. Very nice citrus flavors. I liked it alot. As for new beers on BA, I wrote up a review of a sour BBA Dubbel from Triangle Brewing from a growler. good stuff.

To finish off my 3 beer limit at Elizabeth Station, I stuck with the international theme with a pretty nice beer from my Grandparents homeland of Poland: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1781/79763 . A nice beer I can see grabbing for a walk around the 'hood or taking down to waterfront to watch the sunset.

Lets add to the mix here (All from Steel String Brewery in Carrboro, NC):

    Manzanita Black IPA
    Exile on Weaver St. Wheat
    Big Mon IPA

Nothing like hand written labels. All of which are brand new and have been good!

Just tried this for the first time. Fantastic beer. I have a bit of a sweet tooth so this style of beer really appeals to me.

    Now onto new Stout Sunday;

Upslope's Foreign Style Stout....it's nice but nothing special, enjoyable to drink but nothing I would rush to get again. Bought a single of this and that's definitely all I need (or really want).

New Amber Ale Sunday (week 371)

Greetings NBS'ers. The good news the day was stellar weather wise, even with a few showers, bad news I had to set up an event in New Rochelle. Yucchh. Back on the ridge in Mid Hud Val NY, enjoying a nice amber ale mistakenly IMHO posted as an English Brown, oh well, it is what it is.

    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/99/2301/?ba=cavedave

Not the standard bearer for the style, for sure, but a nice drinkable beer undeserving of the bad reviews if you ask me. Cheers all!
