Hey good beer lovin' peeps greetings from rain-soaked Hampton Roads, VA. A nice day to cuddle up with some good beer and a Game of Thrones marathon. Ah, well, we needed the rain anyway; my yards been parched and I just planted some tomato and squash plants in the garden, so that'll help. Hard to believe some of you guys up north will be seeing the white stuff. Anyways, my 1st new beer for this sunday is Flying Dog Raging Bitch. Not too bad I've been wanting to try it now for a while. However, I'm guessing this beer is comparable to Lil sumpin wild, and if so, I would say the wild is a much better example of the style. Gonna crack a Hardywood Hoplar and Mocha Belgique soon, I'm expecting great things cuz their Gingerbread stout is awesome!

    *** Belgian IPA ***
It's been a rainy day here on Long Island but we sure as heck can use it! I was supposed to go to the Mets game with my brother but the game was postponed. Oh well, instead I helped the wife with some house cleaning and then sat on the couch watching some NHL action. I had this beer during the Flyers/Penguins game...

An awesome stout tasting produced some awesome stouts and others:

Dark Horse Scotty Karate - very sweet and smooth. Nice dryness to cut the sweetness.
Old Rasputin XIV - Old Raspy minus the bitterness, add bourbon and loads of vanilla
Peche Mortel - a bit watery and weak, but no real coffee. Still complex
Buffalo Belgian Stout - Nice Belgian esters (banana), but not much else. base was a bit weak.
Carolina Maibock - feels roasty, like an imperial Irish Red. A bit more bitter
Foothills Pilot Mtn Pale Ale - Might be my favorite PA. very balanced without being malt forward.

I think middle of the road for this one. Not bad but not great. Would not get it again, about a B-

Yep, it was terrible. Better luck next Sunday.

To make up for the bad beer, it was a gorgeous day here in the Columbia Basin. Temps passed 80, and clear blue skies.

    Happy Trails!

    New American Double/Imperial Stout Sunday
Southern, CT was rainy all day, but no complaints as we needed it badly. Spent the day watching the Flyers and Phillies and prepping the outdoor beer room for the spring. Just finished enjoying this fine offering from Boulevard:
    Happy NBS.

<<<New American Pale Wheat Ale, Belgian IPA and American Wild Ale Sunday>>>>

Good eveningi fellow BAs. Today St. Louis arose to some tmeps in teh mid 50's and some rain and clouds with the temperatures steadily climing to the low 60s and teh rain clearing but the clouds staying for the most part.

I had to put in some time at the office today but was able to get some stuff done and then was able to go for a nice long run. I followed this with an eventful day of trying new brews.

I started with a Schlafly Yakima Wheat a bit after my run. Pretty good wheat ale in the tradition of the hopier version of the style. Nice clean sweet wheat notes with some good grassy hops.

I follwed this up with one of my fiances favorites the New Belgium Belgo Belgian IPA. Very good representation of the style with a nice american hop backed profile. Good herbal, citrus and slightly piney notes with a good Belgian malt profile and slight Belgian yeast notes.

Finished the night off with a American Wild Ale. Specificaly Odell's Shananigans. Pretty interesting brew with nice fruit juice sweetness and a good woody background. Nice funk to it as well.

Does not sound bad at all (well your review does). Chocolate and chile (not chili) is a classic taste combination. Like chocolate and salt. When it is done right, whoa!

This was rough. Must of been a bad batch as I find it hard to believe people willingly drink this beer. In my review I mentioned it hard to finish, and I didn't. Drain poured half the glass. Did not find it reasonable to choke this down while I had many great beers in the fridge.
