    Good morning suds suckers!

Don't know what's going on in your area but weather in Central OH is beautiful today. Cool spring breezes and lots of sun. Perfect for a day on the flag football field and then grilling up some dead flesh with a new beer in hand this afternoon. Speaking of...

Whatever you get into today please try a new beer and check back here to tell us about it! Preferably a linked review, a good description of what you had, and/or even a picture! Thanks to the vets that help keep everyone on track and prevent this from being a "ticker" forum. It's always great to read about what other folks have access to in this fine beer world.

Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun!

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

    ***New Berliner Weissbier!!!

G'day Matt and to the rest of the NBS-ites!

After a very warm week, today it decided to get cooler with the high only in the mid 50s.

My new beer is from Grand Teton. I got a freebie sampler bottle from Mike at Poplar Wine & Spirits.

I've been doing yardwork since 8:30 and just stopped for a light lunch followed by this. Very citrus nose and taste, mild bodied at 7.2%. Compliments this 65 degree weather just perfectly.

Looks like the violent T-storms that has been plagueing the area are finally moving east after about 5 straight days of heavy rain and sometimes hail. At least any talk of drought has ended. Picked this beer up in WI yesterday along with a couple of growlers and some Oskar Blues. New Glarus Road Slush Stout:

Greetings and good morning NBSers! A bright, clear, sunny morning here in the Fourth Corner. I got a bit of a stroll in earlier and will take a longer walk after the Talladega race is over. I'll be watching the race at one of my locals and will have a couple of new ones from their tap list later on. Last night I provided security in the beer garden for the local Flat-track Roller Derby team and had a blast. We all went had a few drinks afterwards and since I had this one after Midnight, I'll kind of fudge things a bit use this as first NBS brew of the day: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/192/71774 . A good, funky Stout from New Belgium. I hope all y'all have a great day, enjoy some great brews and help me cheer Tony Stewart on to victory. Go Smoke!

I don't get to watch much of the bout (I've gotta keep my eyes on the crowd), but they certainly are a fun bunch to have a few beers with afterwards! The visiting travel team last night was from BC, and it was funny when a couple of their coaches started off by saying that all Canadian beer was stronger than all American beer. After a couple of 8+% Boundary Bay scotch Ales he was singing a different tune!

Aren't the girls the ones you want to have beers with not the coaches? Anyways back on topic. My second NBS contribution was a tough one for me. The hops in this one was not for me. Still a nicely crafted beer but just not to my tastes. Oskar Blues Deviant Dale's:

Some of the girls on his team were laughing at him right along with me. This gig is the most fun I have volunteering.

right off the bat the nose and appearance was great (great color, almost blood orange with good legs)! The smell is full of pine and resin, maybe even some onion, the taste hits me with hops right away. I'm a huge fan of Oskar Blues so I'm always excited to try their brews.

Punishing the palate (and liver) for NBS. I thought I better drink this ASAP. For all the great things about Casanova's Liquor in Hudson, WI do, they cannot fill a growler worth a damn. Maybe a 6 hour shelf life on them. Going on 24+ hours it was time to suck it up and drink this growler. I really enjoyed this one compared to Deviant Dale's. Southern Tier 2XIPA:

Got to try a NG Apple Ale today after filling a fellow BA's iso: of 2 bottles. Not really a fan of fruit beers but this one killed it. Definitely tip-toeing the line of being a cider, I plan on stocking up on this for cool summer nights and probably even saving a few for my upcoming fall wedding, later this year.

Wow! Nice brew and glad we can get Green Flash in Central OH. I'm not sure my palate is "wrecked" but certainly a fender bender for sure. Will need some water and pretzels to try and restore it for any other less worthy brew today.

    Cheers!

Had this with some sushi (spicy shrimp inari)

    Ettaler Benediktiner Weizen
Klosterbrauerei Ettal / Ettaler Klosterbetriebe GmbH
    Style: Hefeweizen
    ABV: 5.00 %

LOOK: 500 ml bottle poured into a weizen glass. Mostly clear golden orange color. Huge pillowy froth sticks to the glass and is going nowhere anytime soon.

SMELL: Dusty yeast, grainy wheat malt, woodsy hop notes.

TASTE: Authentic hefeweizen notes and all around agreeable flavor. Green banana, lemony hop, and banana bread are all in full force on the palate. Faint clove. There is a very mild but complimentary bitterness. A touch of pepper and a small hint of alcohol.

FEEL: Light bodied, moderate carbonation. A bit watery, but refreshing enough.

OVERALL: A mellow, easy drinking wheat beer. Light flavor, feel and finish. There is always room in my fridge for a beer like this. I paired it with crab mix and spicy shrimp inari rolls, and found it to be a fine combo.

Lone Peak IPA is my most recent acquisition. On clearance at my local neighborhood store. Why, clearance? I don't know. http://lonepeakbrewery.com/ This beer is very nice and not findable by search here. Clean, hoppy but well balanced. A good NW IPA.

The beers up here in Montana are great. In Helena I have Louis and Clark "Tumbleweed" IPA (They do variations o this theme seasonally) and Blackfoot River Single Malt IPA. But across the counter, bottled, This Lone Peak is very tasty. I have yet to find a brewery in MT that doesn't have something worth tasting.

    Happy NBS to all...
I did a whole lot of yard work and landscaping, as it was sunny and in the low 60's here on Long Island today.
I just got out of the shower a little while ago and enjoyed this beer out in the backyard...
