Do yourself a favor and snag one if you can ..One of the most balanced brews I've had in awhile

My first NBS post, starting off with some New Zealand hops via Elysian's Idiot Sauvin. I'll buy almost any beer with a monkey on the bottle. Definitely brings a different character than other IPAs, but I dig the sweetness/tropical notes.

Founders Frangelic Mountain Brown. Finally got around to this. It says brewed w/ hazelnut coffee, but it seems as though they left out the "coffee" and just went with hazelnut. The other bottle that I nabbed today is going to end up going up for trade. This beer bored me.

    Happy NBS to all...

Another heatwave is about to hit Long Island and it was a muggy 88 degree day here in front of what's to come. I did very little outside today and very little inside as well .

My 1st new beer of the day was from Anchor Brewing...

And my final new beer (and beer period, I have to go to work in a while) for today is a very nice Bourbon Barrel aged Imperial Porter (BTW, Imp Porter not a style here on BA, should it be? Discuss.) from a one of our many fine local breweries: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/23904/83256 . Cheers and have a fun and beery week everyone!

OK, I lied. I figured I would try the last beer on the Green Frog's list that I hadn't yet had. I'm so glad. A great APA from one of my regional favorites: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1066/83259 . I'll be working on killing this keg over the next few days.

Finally broke into the Frangelic I've had sitting. It's a bit one dimensional but it's a well constructed brown ale with an interesting showcase ingredient. The sweetness of the whole thing really hides the alcohol well. I think that's my favorite characteristic, it's just too damn drinkable.

American but English style. Pt Defiance IPA from Harmon Brewing.

Long on a caramel flavors, short on the hops and a bit thick and flat on the tongue.

I'd have it again, but it's far from a "must try" in my book.

    Happy Trails!

Happy NBS,gang. Hot day in the greater STL area. Had a couple of really nice brews with some pizza downtown for lunch today. Pulled this new one out tonight.

New Beligum/Lost Abbey collaboration. A little disappointing overall. Hope they shoot and try for a hit on another collaboration.

    Cheers.

Just poured my 2010 La Roja. Lots of acetic and leather with a touch of lacto on the nose. Awesome, awesome sour beer. Really wild smelling. I think I'll hold off on a review for this one and just give it a "Had". I'll wait for a fresh one to review.
