Greetings laborers of the latest beers!

I hope this message greets you with the ability to enjoy all the festivities this holiday brings including a much needed day off and some extra time to enjoy some new beers!

Oktoberfest offerings are in full swing although the muggy and hot Central OH weather would not lend itself to liter quaffing fine harvest lagers and ales. Doesn't look like we'll have much relief until at least next weekend either.

Regardless of your seasonal preferences, THIS is the venue to try a new beer and SHARE it with us. Please sample a new beer and post your review or GOOD description of what you had so we can participate in a virtual pint with you. If you have a pic, great. If you're like me and can't figure it out, a good review will keep the regulars happy and looking forward to the next post.

Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun. I hope you all have a great holiday weekend.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

Summit Oktoberfest: Great copper color, great sticky lacing. Taste profile is malty and rich, a slight sweet peach note in there which is interesting. Crisp finish. Way better than a Spaten or Becks ...

Well, I don't think this quite falls under the theme of NBS, but I just finished sniffing my empty bottle of Olde Hickory IS from last night. The sweetness of the malt comes through more than the roast now. Last night it was mostly roast. Enjoy the rest of the weekend folks.

That is a way underrated brew in my humble opinion.

Happy sunday funday all! Enjoying a Berkshire Coffee Porter thanks to Davey101! Busy brewing right now but can say this is a nice beer. Cola colored body.thick creamy sticky tan head. Very robust coffee aromas and flavors with a hint of chocolate in the background. Nicely carbonated but body seems a little thin. Overall very happy!

    New fruit beer Sunday

Awesome weather this summer Sunday in West Michigan. Warm and sunny. A welcome joy as both my Alma Mater and Fantasy Soccer team were blown up this weekend.

Took the chance to sample a fine bottle from Short's before entertaining around the pool and out on the deck this afternoon. Great way to wrap up the summer with a holiday weekend and some tasty beer.

Greetings fellow NBSers! Another sunny, dry day here in the Fourth Corner, September is generally my favorite month, the weather is decent, and with the kids back in school, the trails have fewer folks on them. The college kids aren't back for another couple of weeks, so the streets are quiet as well.

I bartended a catered wedding for one of my local breweries yesterday, a very lovely site with lots of landscaping out in the county near town. The coolest thing was the build your own S'mores bar set up near the fire pit. Very cool. I took a two-hour bike ride earlier today and had couple brews at home. Now I'm at one of my locals, and they have a couple of new brews on-tap for me try as well. I'll start with this brew that our own mattcrill reviewed for last weeks NBS: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/689/49814

Just finishing up a brew from a WA brewery that I'd never heard of. Not a new brewery either. And here I thought I was up on our regional beer scene. Only 1 other review for this brew, and it was 3 years ago: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/20173/51258

Greetings NBSers. Lovely day, big time chores, now it is enjoy some great American Beer time as the wife prepares chix cutlets for the Smoky Joe. Am drinking this uncarbonated marvel of thick flavor, enjoying it, and have just mixed a bit of bottle on left with some of the bottle on right, and this beer now fucking rocks. Hope all my fellow BA's also are enjoying a Great American Beer in their glass. Cheers!

needs some carb for sure, but tasty

I had the pleasure of enjoying a Pumking. Man, this beer is amazing!
It pours with a massive off white head and copper/orangish color that screams Fall.
The nose is very complex with aromas of brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, and possibly nutmeg.
The flavor follows the nose but with an excellent pumpkin bread flavor that is heavenly. It literally tastes like liquid pumpkin bread. The 8.6% abv is nowhere to be tasted, although it is felt after 22oz

The mouthfeel is medium bodied, perfect for this beer.
Overall, it is fantastic, a little pricey but I had to buy a few more bottles anyway. Seek this beer out!!!

*** New American Porter Sunday ***

    Greetings NBS,

Another gorious late summer day here in Southern, CT. Working on my second week of trying some Midwest beers a buddy sent me.

This was a rye porter, and I can't say I've ever had anything else like it.

Greetings yall! it was a stuffy, muggy day that produced a strong afternoon downpour. THen it got SUPER hot and muggy. Not a great day to make an extract oktoberfest.

A bunch of homebrewers got together today, and a neighbor brought over Seein Double IPA from Foothills. I thought it was pretty slick and drinkable, but just didnt pack the punch I wanted. It had some nice light citrus flavors that makes me think that theres Jade hops in there somewhere. Light lemon and orange with a light resinous bitterness.

Enjoying (very much) a Two Brothers Atom Smasher tonight, which is their take on an Oktoberfest. This tastes like a traditional Oktoberfest beer, even though it is stronger (7.7% abv) than most and aged in oak barrels. Pours a dark copper/light brown with a full finger and a half of head and follows through with a big malty taste, a touch of caramel and just a hint of alcohol in the aftertaste. First time having this, won't be the last.

Finished a 12hr day of stocking beer, by trying something I've been waiting paitently to hit the east coast... FW Double DBA! By all means, it looks, feels, smells, and tastes like an English BW. Nice ruddy caramel color, thin head with touches of lacing, caramel toffee, fresh dark fruit, and candy corn! The 12% is very well hidden! Me thinks trouble could be brewing! ;-)
