Greetings Democrats of dark lagers and Republicans of real ale!

I hope you are enjoying another weekend with all the pomp and circumstance that New Beer Sunday brings.

Weather in Central OH is final fall-like. Cool and mid-70's makes it finally feel appropriate to imbibe in an O-fest or Pumpkin beer. I picked up the Sam Adams Harvest Pack yesterday and it looks promising. Some new stuff I haven't had in there and it will be making an appearance later today.

Whatever hits your glass today, as long as it's new, share it here!

Post a very good description, preferably a formal linked review, and a picture only if you're savvy enough to do so.

Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

    Greetings all!

It is an amazing day here in central NC. mid 70s with a chilly wind blowing. It feels like football, like a good saturday back home in the Midwest. Normally I would rant about how I want to go back and I miss it and whatever, but yesterday, one of my friends brought me a bottle of Barrel-Aged Sexual Chocolate from the release. I cracked it at like 1230 am and had a small pour last night then recapped it until this morning. Last night it was full of bourbon and sweet with loads of barrel. Now its a bit sweeter as it warmed.

This beer is worth the hype and praise it gets.

    Cheers!

    Tim

I guess I am doing what just about every American is doing today. Find it harder to get excited about the NFL as I get older and it does not help that Viking expectations are low. My first new beer is a MN beer that is producing some really nice German ales. Mankato Brewing Stickum (pronounced: schtyk-oom, as stated on the label):

Think I'm gonna go with a Dulle Teve from De Dolle while I switch between the Eagles and the Phillies.

    New Rye Beer Sunday

    Greetings NBSer's,

Yea, it's the start of the NFL. I will loyally suffer through another mediocre season with my local grid-iron team and I will suffer gladly, because I like the game that much and habit.

And this week I will take the suffering by truly enjoying a local beer with some hype. Originally listed as a red lager it has now been changed to a rye beer. It's kinda' both - a very nicely hopped, rye lager with very good drinkability. A little big at 6.2% abv to be session beer, but you can certainly have another, when the time is right. Further, this one is yearly. Schell's has really been hitting the mark lately with flavorful, drinkable and interesting beers and uniquely many have been lagers. Additionally, there are more coming down the pike to be enjoyed.

    Best to all this week.

Hello! Been awhile since I've posted on NBS. Today's new beer was a pretty average brew - an APA - Shiner Wild Hare. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/143/77723/?ba=jwc215

Having a little tasting today with my family to celebrate the greatest Sunday of the year!

First time any of us have had this, I wasn't expecting it to be this damn good, I love it, not overly hoppy, not too malty. I can actually smell the maple syrup in the nose and as it warms up the maple is there just slightly on the back of the tongue. Really unique awesome beer, one of the best DFH brews I've tried, great stuff! Thanks to Gehrig13!

I hadn't yet cracked it at the time but now that I have....

Nicely carbonated, though maybe a tad much for my personal taste. Lovely citrus and spice flavors one comes to expect from a tripel. Alcohol is hidden well, though it does pop up a bit at the end. Nice clean, zesty finish. Not my favorite of the style, but still a very good beer.

I chose Newcastle Werewolf to watch my Kansas City Chiefs. The beer is described as a "blood red ale" on the bottle. It's decent, a good use of rye malts, a bit of dryness, and even a hint of some spices in the finish. The beer was far better than the blood red massacre that took part in Arrowhead. Oh well.

Good afternoon everybody! It's a nice cool 70 degrees here in central Illinois with soft winds and plenty of sunshine. Perfect for football and pumpkin beer! I took my better half out to lunch today at Destihl Restaurant & Brew Works, the food was great as always, but the beer was better. Today I had a couple pints of Samhain cask pumpkin porter with vanilla added. Pours black as can be with plenty of orange and amber specks floating, brewer says it's from the 200 pounds of fresh pumpkins they fire roast in their brick oven then add to the beer. With this glass sitting in front of me it smells as if a candle is lit somewhere, tons of pie spice fill the air. Cinnamon, vanilla, coriander, allspice, nutmeg, juniper and ginger root somewhat overpower the pumpkin but the nose and tongue can still tell it's in there. Nice full, thick and creamy mouthfeel on this, sooo good! Carbonation is perfect for me, enough to make the spice dance on the tongue and a creamy cap till the end. I really really like this beer and am thinking about going back for a growler fill before it's all gone.

    New American Wild Ale

Beautiful late summer day in West MI. Cooler temps, blue skies, and a nice breeze.

Relatively good sports weekend. Oldest son had a great first soccer game, and some positive football results were nice. Only blemish was a disappointing finish from the US in soccer.

Awesome collaboration between Brewery Vivant and New Belgium. Can't believe I'm the first to review. Looking forward to the New Belgium release.

    Greetings, NBSers,

Partly sunny and 75 degrees in Spokane.

An unfortunate college football weekend for me, especially my Eags that came so close to beating WSU. If they had they'd be the only FCS team to beat 2 FBS schools this year. As for my Huskies, I think they are still being ID'd with their dental records.

Hoping the 'hawks cheer me up. First beer on opening sunday is a canned saison from Hilliard's in Seattle:

Greetings fellow NBSers! We've had a very nice run of weather of late here in the Fourth Corner, it was sunny and 80 yesterday. Today was partly sunny earlier and it's cloudy now. Seattle has been without measurable rain for about 50 days and we go a couple more we'll set a new record for longest dry spell.

I went out for a bike ride earlier then had a couple brews at home and one at a local pub. I'll see if the bar I'm at has any new brews for me and if so, y'all will be the first to know about it. We'll start with this nice English IPA from a local Nano-brewery: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22434/73380
