Greetings fellow NBSers! Another absolutely glorious week here in the Fourth Corner. Highs in the upper 60s and evening lows in the 40s. Traditionally the second Saturday in October brings the start of the rainy season, we'll see how that goes next week.

I was surprised and happy to see a couple of brews from Long Island, home to NBS' own JoeyBeerBelly, in a local store recently. So, I was a bit let down when I had this very highly-rated brew: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1628/9755 . I just didn't think it was a good example of the style, nor a good beer on its own terms. I've got a couple more new beers to enter and maybe one here at the pub. Cheers and happy NBS to all.

Howdy! Low 50s and a wet day in Raleigh, NC. First day that I've craved for a dark, robust beer since last winter.

This bottle of O'so Night Train came All About Beer Magazine's last round of Beer Talk. I feel comfortable writing that this is the finest robust porter I've experienced in a while. The small addition of oatmeal gives this fantastic beer a wonderfully creamy body and luscious mouthfeel on a slightly chilly fall evening.

    Cheers!

This seems to be one of the busier NBS threads I've seen in a while!
I'll be back in about 90 minutes a few reviews to add!
(gotta get the kids in the bath then to bed!)

Cheers all you ale admirals and lager lieutenants.

    I know. I'm really tired.
I was up late fucking my hot wife, drinking beatification, and watching Amelie.

I'm sure you have much more time to practice your online wittiness than I do... But I still love ya man.

My last beer for until mid week, and I grabbed a Heavy Seas Loose Cannon. Ive honestly got the windows open and fans pulling the cold air in my apartment. I love these 50 degree days. The hops have probably faded, but theres some nice piney, floral, and a hint of lemon zest. Light and sweet. Its not the best IPA, but its not bad.

Ima bend the NBS rules just a bit here. I went to a cookout at a friends house last night. He had a sixth barrel from a local brewery in the kegarator, and of course everyone brought some bottles along. One of the beers I took was a 40 of a malt liquor that I wanted to tick, but didn't want to tackle on my own. It was surprisingly, not bad: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29/2186/?ba=beertunes

Couldn't resist the Top Sail Imperial Porter - Bourbon Barrel Aged (Brewmaster Reserve 2012) in my fridge.

Any beer with that long and descriptive a title (and the very regal label) needs to be amazing. This beer wasn't. It was okay-to-good. I may not be partial to bourbon barrel-aging porters, since this and Port Jeff's bba porter were the only two I've had, and neither one wowed me. Non-bba porters I've had have been far more enjoyable. I think I prefer a milky, creaminess that the bourbon notes kind of burn off?

Don't get me wrong - its a good beer, but not a rebuy. But now it is part of my beer knowledge.

    To beer knowledge!

Boulder Bend Dunkel from Fish Brewing. An average dunkel I'm afraid, but not bad.

Glorious October day here the great northwest. Sunny with temps in the upper 60's. I played 9 holes of golf and had a few beers.

    Happy Trails!

Little chilly here in north central IL... So after a blustery day at the pumpkin patch with the kids, I decided to open a beer I expected would warm me up...

    Sweetwater's 15th annaversary beer...
Didn't really do it for me unfortunately.
