First time trying this one. Too sweet for me, but it was still pretty good.

Dark chocolate, brown sugar, dark fruits, slight booziness.

    NEW ENGLISH BARLEYWINE SUNDAY

Good afternoon fellow beer lovers. I haven't been around these parts in a while but I cracked something special today so decided to post. The day here in St. Louis started cold and early for me. Me and my fiancé (less than a month left) ran the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon sometime around 7 and the temp. was in the mide 40's. As the day went on however the weather was perfect with highs in the mid to high 70's. I love fall.

Got back home and nursed myself with some Dominos pizza and a Surly Furious. But later in the evening I decide to crack and review this gem with the lady (Thanks to arniepnminne, awesome BA).

This brew was delcicious. A near perfect 5 for me. Very good sweetness and Barrel Aged notes.

A: hazy yellow body, kinda like a hefe. three fingers of off white sudsy head that last for 5 minutes before it settles into a thin frothy cap leaving spotty lacing behind. 4.5

S: smells more wine like than beer like. There's a sweetness to the nose that is fruit like instead of the usual creamed corn and cereal grains. 3.0

T: cardboard soaked in cheap juice. hints of pineapple, grape skin and a hint of orange. 1.5

M: flat and thick. carbonation is a little low, after 20 some years that should be expected. Dry cardboardy finish. 1.0

O: Surprised how well this held up carbonation wise after all these years. Like I said earlier, this smelling more like wine than beer was also a pleasant surprise. Too bad it all went down hill from there, had high hopes for this one. 2.5

Week 400! 7.5 years. We are approaching the amount of time it took me to get through college. ;-)

Blight Pumpkin Ale another in the 12 beers of the Apocalypse series. I'm glad I had this one, but frankly it's a seasonal novelty in my book, not a serious session ale.

    Glad I tried it.

And glad I have hung around this thread for the last 6+ years or so. My BA anninversary comes up at the end of December.

    Happy Trails!
