Happy Sunday seekers of Celebration and winter warmer watchers! The passing of Halloween officially unleashed the onslaught of "traditional" winter beers in Central OH. I can't say that I'm terribly upset as I've already gone through a sixer of Celebration with another on deck. The cold weather and overcast skies are perfect for any of the finer winter ale and lager options. My new beer consumption definitely goes down this time of year with all my favorite seasonals hitting the shelves. Hopefully we'll have a cohort here today that has found a new beer and is willing to share a virtual pint with us. Please try a new beer, post a linked review or a good description (loving the play by play picture postings we've had lately...great stuff!), and if you have a pic to share that's icing on the cake. Whatever is on your list today I hope you have a chance to sample a new beer and share it on this fine format. Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun. Good day and good drinkin'. Peace, love, and malty-ness, Matt
Happy NBS to all... We still have no power or internet at home (Damn You Sandy!) but there are folks that have it much worse than us, as we still have a home! We also have a generator running to give us heat and hot water as the temperatures on Long Island have dropped. The gas lines are crazy but I do what I gotta do for my family. I'm at work now charging our phones and checking email. I probably won't have any new beer today but I may enjoy a bottle or 2 of BCBS when I get home. I did have a new beer on Halloween night so I'll submit it as my NBS entry (I'm sure Matt and Malty will let me slide on the rules considering my situation). Midnight Sun TREAT... http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/385/26972/?ba=JoeyBeerBelly Stay safe everyone and keep all of those affected by Hurricane Sandy in your thoughts and prayers! Cheers, Joe
It's great to know you and yours are safe! I'm kind of worried about jesskidden...I've BMd him but he hasn't posted since Monday and he's in NJ. Hopefully, it's because of the loss of power. I'll have a new brew today and I'll check back in when I drink and review it.
glad to hear you are safe! instead of new beer sunday you could go with new drink sunday. i suggest making a hurricane sandy, it's real easy, just make a manhattan then water it down. too soon? they say humor helps.
American Amber/Red Ale I hope this NBS finds everyone safe after the hurricane. My contribution today was a lot less than expected. A poor effort IMHO. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/3268/56887/?ba=morimech
***New Russian Imperial Stout!!! G'day all. A nice day here in Casper...the temp pushing the 60F mark. I'm enjoying a brew that would please most fans of the style: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/140/86149/?ba=Bitterbill For less than $2.50 a bottle, I see this one as an outstanding value for the money brew. Typical of Sierra Nevada, eh?
*****New...and Wild!***** Greetings from hurricane ravaged Toms River, NJ. Despite some property damage and some utility difficulties, my family and I are among the very, very lucky. We have friends who can count their homes as submerged. It ain't pretty. Today, there is sunshine and a crisp 50 degree temp. Oh, and there's another storm en route for later in the week. As for the BEER: I cracked a bottle of Lags Little Sumpin' Wild Ale that I've been hanging onto for a bit. What was I waiting for? It's qiute the BIPA. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/220/57912/?ba=NiceTaps Cheers and Beers...and all smiles!
New Cream Ale Sunday Greetings NBSer's, My best to all those still working their way through the ravages of Sandy. There is nothing in my sorry life, ever, to compare to what many are experiencing. A toast for the best. Cream ales are a bit of a hot item her in WI and MN. There are a couple of pretty good drinkers with New Glarus Spotted Cow and the recent MN addition of Rise to the Top. Today's NBS entrant is a "hopped" version of they style. A good version of the style with and additional soft, yet apparent and flavorful hop addition. A worthy addition to the scene. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/368/81383/?ba=garymuchow My best to all this week with extra special good wishes to those still working through Sandy.
*** New TRIPEL *** It's been a long time since I new beer Sun-day'd.... After my son's last football game on a very damp, chilly day in PA, I needed something to warm up... tried out the New World from Sam Adams, and it did not disappoint. They have a winner of a domestic Tripel here... http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/35/53773/?ba=BeerImmediately
New German-style Beer Sunday - Hello NBSers, we've got a huge High Pressure system in the Soutland leaving temperatures in the high 80s. Last week it was cold in the 60s and it really felt like fall. Current temp is 87F. Indian Summer had me ordering these 2 today - http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26704/83541/?ba=Halcyondays http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22412/86829/?ba=Halcyondays
New black ale Sunday A little later to the party than normal. Fall is really setting into West MI. Cooler temps, leaves really falling too. Good time to enjoy the outdoors and wrap up the yard work before we make way for snow. Saugatuck Brewing did a tasting at my local shop (The Copper Vine) this weekend. I picked this up as a single and grabbed a sixer of their smoked brown ale for a review in the near future. Really enjoyed today's new brew. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/11814/86831/?ba=GRPunk
>>>>>> New American Stout <<<<<< Omen Raspberry Stout, the 10th is the 12 beers of the apocalypse series. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/700/86482 Below average I'm afraid, a marginal stout and the fruit flavor does nothing for me. Bitter sweet day today, it was the last lawn cutting of the season and then winterizing the mower. It's great to know I won't be mowing for 5 months or so, but that and the end of daylight savings time means the long dark nights or winter are upon is. Egad, I'll be putting up the Christmas lights in 3 weeks. Ugly news from the east coast, but really it could have been so much worse. Stay safe and be patient, the power will come back on. Happy Trails!
*** New Dubbel Sunday*** Greetings NBS, I hope the power and resources return soon from those hit by Sandra. A gorgeous late fall day here in Southern CT. Took care of some work for the week and items around the house and finally catching up on the League and enjoying this new brew. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/997/7097
