Greetings mad elves, bad Santa's, and Old Fezziwiggers!

Whatever your holiday celebratory slant is this season I hope you are enjoying all the trappings of this month and pairing it with some tasty craft beers. Weather here in Central OH is cloudy and cool but still hoping for a little more of the white stuff to make the season merry and bright. Regardless, I still have plenty of Celebration within reach. Still enjoying Oskar Blues and that will probably make an appearance today. Just got word that Kona Brewing will be getting distributed in Ohio starting in 2013. Woot! Good time to be a craft beer lover.

This is the thread to try a new beer and share a virtual pint with your fellow BA's! Please try a new beer, write a review or a good description, and possibly a pic if you are a new beer lover AND a techie. As a friendly programming reminder, please save the "what's in my fridge" and "what I hope to drink after the Clark Griswold light display is working" for other posts. This is a retroactive look at the suds and lacing that ring your snifter as you fondly reflect on the tasty exploits of said new beer resting comfortably in your personal bowl full of jelly.

Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun. Good day and good drinkin'.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

    Cheers, Matt, Match, everyone...
Well, it’s a cool, rainy spring morning here on LI – oh, wait – silly global warming! – it’s a warm, rainy December morning here on LI - and I’m popping the cork on a bottle of Chimay’s new Peres Trappistes 2012 [IMG]
Oh, wait – it’s, uh, Chimay Blue. D’oh!
Well, I can honestly say I didn’t realize it until I read the back label at home. But I can also honestly say I have no idea of the bottling dates of the couple of other times I’ve had the Chimay Grande Reserve (Blue) – but this is definitely my first Chimay 2012 Grande Reserve.
From the bottle: “In 2012, the Chimay Trappist brewery will be celebrating its 150th birthday. To mark this occasion, the Chimay Grande Reserve (Chimay Blue Cap) will be adorned by a decoration inspired by its long tradition.”

Took my pics starting around 11:00, then let the beer sit for a bit.

Started drinking around 11:20, listening to Wheels of Confusion, off Black Sabbath’s Volume 4 (“The world will still be turning when you are gone”) – but, my God – it’s 12:30 now – been drinking this glass for over an hour – lol… not a bad start to the day, eh?

See y'all later - good drinking, everyone!

I almost made the same mistake, luckily i read the label as i was in line to buy it. Not that it would have been a bad thing if i bought it anyways. I haven't had Chimay Blue in years and your pics are making me want to run out and buy a bottle.

New American Porter Sunday (week 407)

Greetings NBS'ers, it's a cool and no longer rainy day here on the ridge in Mid Hud Val NY. Moving out old TV's, putting in new, relaxing, and enjoying some beer the main tasks for the day. Oh yeah, chores too, but that is a lower priority on a day like today. Don't know if this is a new iteration for Captain Lawrence, or changed name, and in bottle, of Pleasantville Smoked Porter. It's delicious whatever it is, new or old. Highly recommended. Hope you also have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

    New Scotch Ale Sunday

    Greeting NBSer's,

Wow! a quick start here at NBS with several reviews before the end of the 1st quarter.
Hibernating day today in SCMN with a steady, but not all that impressive first snow storm in the area. Winter is here and there is plenty to do inside.
Keeping with the weather and season I'm tapping into a smaller local brewery (western WI) and the winter ale they offer. I appear to be the first review for the 2012 batch.

Definitely fits the season and weather. Nothing like a solid winter ale on a snowy day.
    Best to all this week.

I don't want to be NBS police here but let's please keep this thread focused on new beer. The format and guidelines are pretty simple. Carry on. Thank you.

I have 5 new beers today, and thats because I was 17 995 unique check ins on untappd, so I grabbed 4 new beers and a friend brought one over as a thanks for bringing him back ORF.

The first is the New Belgium Coffee Chocolate Imp Stout. It was thin, but reminded me of FBS, only with a better coffee presence. The coffee was more of a freshly brewed coffee than steeped beans (which is what i picture FBS as). Also, the body was lighter and sweeter--not chocolate sweet like FBS, but just residual sugar sweet. Overall, I like it, but wouldnt buy it again is other stuff is around.

My new brew today is Knee Deep IPA. Just poured my first glass from a freshly purchased bomber.

    Cheers to all!

Another awesome weekend. Hit the "D" for the USWNT game and authentic coneys yesterday. Short run and a little downtime today.

It's getting wintry in West Michigan. Light snow has given way to freezing rain, creating slush and ice. Maybe a "Snow Day" is wishful thinking, but I thought it appropriate.
