Good morning seekers of stout and IPA investigators!

I hope this message finds you ready for another fine Sunday with a new craft beer in your grubby or clean mits! Weather in Central OH has been decidedly cool for June. It made it perfect for sampling Sierra Nevada's Hoptimum on Friday night and enjoying the rich caramel base and intense hop bitterness/aroma that is so well knit and characteristic of Sierra Nevada.

HOWEVER, that beer is not new to me and today is the day for all things new! Please grab a pint of a beer that is new to you, enjoy it, and tell us about it! A linked review is preferred but at least a good description. Pics are always nice but we want to share in your new findings, your thoughts, and feedback on something new you HAD today. Search the previous 432 weeks and see all the great posts this fine Sunday tradition has had to offer to get the idea.

I hope that you find something new and tasty to tell us about today. Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun.

    Peace, love, and maltyness,

    Matt

Morning, Matt, Bill and everyone else arriving later on...

I love when Bill's the second guy on here - 'specially since he's in Wyoming, it suggests to me that Bill's waking up (Jim Morrison-style ) to a beer on any given NBS morning. Cheers, Bill!

Today is warm, sunny, and dry on LI.
Had a nice walk in the morning with the missus, then settled in for this Top 250 Beer:
    Hazelnut Brown Nectar
    [IMG]
I don't drink browns often. I lean toward either pales or stouts for the most part, I suppose. Certainly not browns though. My favorite, like, "American brown ale" is DFH's Indian Brown. But lemme tell ya: This was a real nice drinking brown. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer from start to finish and would easily grab another as soon an any other.
My second pour dumped into the center of a pint fit perfectly.

This is wrapped around my brain:

    See y'all later!

New Am. Pale Ale w/ Exp. hop 05256 Sunday (week 433)

Greetings NBS'ers from a sadly still unemployed day on the ridge in Mid Hud Val NY, but a day spent doing work, just not the monetary payment kind. Spiritual payment arguably is more valuable. Turning gold, black gold, my compost, and drinking a fantastic local brew I have had in its base form, and love, but this mystery hop makes a new beer of this Rushing Duck one-off, a variant of Naysayer Pale Ale.

No review, again, why bother when almost no one will get to try this? It is definitely an interesting bitter hop here, really tasty and herbally bitter, it fronts some nice medium strength hops that have some wonderful flavor of spice, hay, grass, citrus, and some light kind of onion going on too that was hard to catch at first. Nice soft caramel and tart bread also come to play. It ends juicy with that interesting hop lingering sweetly. Super refreshing for a beer with this kind of hoppitude. Mmmmmmmm

Glad to get a growler of this tasty brew that shows Dan Hitchcock is a brewer that will be coming into his own very soon, and admired outside our area as he is here at home. Hope you have a Great American Beer in your glass. Cheers!

    NEW ENGLISH STOUT SUNDAY

    Hello all -
Nice weather we are having here in New Jersey. Interesting that Matt began by mentioning stout, because that is what I'm having today. I just tried a new stout from Bass, which is now brewed in Baldwinsville, NY. (It has been for some time now.) It's not bad, but nothing particularly special. Easy enough to drink and a change from the hoppy beers I've been drinking lately. I reviewed a couple of nice ones from a relatively new brewery in Pennsylvania - Lavery - last week. I probably should have saved at least one of them for today to review for NBS.
Anyway, it is what it is. Not sure if I'll follow this brewery's intention of making a black and tan with it. I prefer to have a stout if I want a stout and a pale ale if I want a pale ale, and not mix the two.

Happy NBS all! The wife and baby are away on this gloriously sunny day so I'm left alone wile away the day as I see fit. This morning was dedicated to yard work, like cavedave I got the compost pile turned. Everything is decaying beautifully. This afternoon I am boldly attempting something I have not tried in months. I am going to tackle a large format bottle of high octane brew. Alone.

Big bottles and little babies don't mix but this afternoon I am going to enjoy this one outside while I spend some quality time contemplating my navel. Cheers!

Greetings fellow NBSers! A partly cloudy morning, as usual this time of year, with the prospect of a sunny afternoon here in the Fourth Corner. I started a new gig this week, not sure how it's going to work out, but for the first time in a couple years, I can count on 40 hours at one job. Still keeping all my other irons in their various fires, just as a back up. Last night was the championship bout of the local roller derby season, and I did the beer garden security. They're fun events, but I'm glad for a six month break from them. Our local college-level, wood bat summer baseball team started this week ( http://www.bellinghambells.com/home/) and I look forward to catching as many games as I can.

My first new brew as I watch the Pocono NASCAR race is a pleasant enough Pale Ale from the "Brown" side of the Evergreen State: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/936/13009/?ba=beertunes . I'll see y'all in a while.

    Greetings and Happy NBS!
Beautiful day in Southern WI today. I went to Dog Fest with my family and had a very nice time. Got home and everyone wanted to take a nap, but I wanted to try a new beer!
Prairie Ales makes some amazing Saisions, but this one is their oddball. It drinks nice, but certainly leaves your mouth confused with the combinations. Thanks to Ken in OK for this one.

    NEW SAISON / WITBIER SUNDAY!

Greetings and a big howdy to the NBS group from the Jersey Shore!
It's 90-plus degrees here today, yet quite pleasant . Not too humid with a gentle breeze and sunshine.
Another good week in the books, productive and fun. I played golf today and none of my playing partners were up for lunch ( one actually said "I have to go put lime on the lawn"). The family was up to no good as usual so I went it alone and ran into this: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26676/82149/?ba=NiceTaps. It was an hour and 2 beers very well spent!

Here's a toast to hoping that everyone is well in NBS land, Cheers!!!

First time posting to NBS! Greetings all!

Bought my max allotment of 6 of these from De Molen Brouwerij about a month ago. Had heard really good things about the 666 version of Hel & Verdoemenis and they were not wrong. Although, I think I would have a tough time deciding which I prefer between this and Black Albert or one of it's variants. (And yes, one of the Black Damnations does include 25% of the regular Hel & Verdoemenis)

    Cheers!

    New Witbier Sunday

    Greetings, NBSers.

Lovely weekend in the St. Louis region. We enjoyed some outdoors activities yesterday and headed into downtown for lunch today. Stopped in at Bailey's Range, top burger joint, and I was looking for something light to go with the burger. Liking 2nd Shift more and more, so opted for their Hibiscus Wit, my first timing having this one:

    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/24428/66018/?ba=FanofHefe

It really works! A little sweeter than most wits, but even my wife (who rarely has a beer) liked it!

    Cheers!

    Stone's Espresso Imperial Russian Stout

I heard a guy say Hop Wallop is an under-rated beer. "That's what I heard," I said. Then he said - having commented that he likes it better than Stone's Levitation - that Stone's over-rated. That's when I stopped listening to him
I can since say that, indeed, Hop Wallop is probably an under-rated beer - Victory make at least a couple of really hoppy D/IPAs worth a try.
I can also say that Stone is not an over-rated brewer.
    Persistent head and aroma.

    Opaque ^ :grimacing:

This is an excellent beer from one of my top 5(-ish) favorite American brewers (Firestone, Founders, Great Divide, maybe AleSmith or Allagash, Ommegang, or such vying for a spot, y'know?). I've never had anything from RR, FFF, Hill Farmstead, Bell's or Deschutes - but I imagine even then, Stone would still be just about top 10 anyway.

Was watching This Is 40, with Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd. Paul's character's friend (played by Robert Smigel), in one scene, appeared with a Stone-logo shirt on, which I pointed out to my vaguely annoyed wife. lol :stuck_out_tongue:
Stone is awesome. The movie was also really funny for me and my wife, BTW. Really well-written, well-acted, and the two kids (Leslie Mann's real-life children) were great.

Singer Howard Jones is a talented dude, but I'm equally happy with (current and former vocalist) Jesse Leach.

Alright, I'm out of steam. Later.

Hello everybody! 1st time posting in NBS as well..

I love to try new beers, and this often happens on Sunday, so here's to a hopeful new tradition. There have been a lot of IPAs released in OH of late (along with the rest of the country), and it was with great pleasure that I spotted a new Three Floyds bomber on the shelf -- Blackheart. I have drunk 10 different FFF brews since they resumed distribution in OH, and rated all of them above 85, so it was with great anticipation when I cracked this open:

Let me tell you - it didn't disappoint. Nice woody balance overall, and such new & welcoming tastes with the abundant UK hops (East Kent Goldings and Admiral). My review:

    Blackheart

    Cheers to New Beer Sunday!
