    Greetings from Southern, CT NBS

Where the weather was fantastic today. Just a plain awesome fall day, although still a touch warm. My wife has been a little under the weather, so I was on baby and hold down the house patrol all day. Yesterday was help the in laws paint day so I'd sayi earned a NBS.

I tried this ENGLISH STOUT from Belhaven and it made me realize I should try this style more when in search of lower abv beers:

    New Brown Ale Sunday!

Greetings to the NBS group. It's been a beautiful fall weekend here at the Jersey Shore. Today consisted of temps in the mid- sixties, clear blue skies (I remember spotting one fair weather cloud...I think), light breezes, and low humidity.
After spending the afternoon on the links, I came home to a great wife, a good meal, and this Cigar City offering:

Happy B'day, Rio. Time for some R&R.
    All the best, everyone. Cheers!

And maybe the last pumpkin ale of the season. Harlot's Harvest from Pike Brewing. A pumpkin porter really, so if you are looking for the pumpkin spiced amber this isn't the one. A very good brew.

Nice here in the Columbia Basin with highs in the mid 60's. Back-to-back golf days for me, which I don't think I have had all summer. Might be the last golf of the season, but that's what I aid 2 weeks ago. Fall and winter will have to pry summer "from my cold dead hands", as Charleton Heston would say. ;-)

    Happy Trails!

I'm from Coatesville originally but am not familiar with an Amish wedding roast. Can you elaborate?

My father in law was raised Amish and I got the recipie from his sisters. With 100s of people attending Amish weddings it's basically a way to feed a lot of people with a little meat. Chopped up poultry mixed with stock, bread cubes, onions, celery, and saffron (fresh from our garden). It goes great with creamed celery, which I have not mastered. Some local fire companies serve these dinners, made by the Amish, as fundraisers.

I enjoyed tonights with Weyerbachers Eighteen.

A tad cooler and pleasant in NE Florida today, compared to yesterday closing in on 90 . Celebrated the cool-down with a Green Flash Imperial IPA. I've come to the conclusion that I have a love-hate relationship with summit hops. This beer had a nice, complex hop aroma, but the summit dankness really dominated the flavor. Without some complexity and balance, I'm not that much of a fan, and yet I couldn't stop drinking it!
    Cheers, all!

Mojo IPA. Well it mentions Amarillo hops, so I'm thinking, "Cool, get a citrusy punch." Well not quite. It's almost a bit hot. Then I look at the bottle and notice the "Enjoy by" date...July, 2013. Oh well. I guess I can't judge this one properly. I need to get a "fresher" one.

Well, one more new brew for me this evening. Finally found some room for this local IPA after an amazingly delicious and filling dinner from a local Afghani (Afghan?) joint. Got lunch for tomorrow out of it as well, always a plus. As for the beer, I loved where it was going. Felt like it took a bit of a detour, but overall pretty enjoyable. Not really one for cats, but, they seem to have an obsession with them.

Oh, and for extra credit I'll toss in my thoughts on the only one I bothered to take notes on/review from yesterday's festivities. Check it out if you have the opportunity. Interesting and pretty tasty to boot.

Enjoying this one for the first time

Pours a deep coppery red. Has a great piney nose. It starts with a grassy/piney hop presence but that is backed up with a caramel malt backbone.
It has an abv of 6.66% and pairs very nicely with the Walking Dead

    I know it's not a competition but I won:
Pliny the Elder - Decent IPA not really up to the hype
Supplication - Possibly the best sour I've ever had
Heady Topper - Jesus tap dancing Christ this was damn near the best thing ever, completely worthy of all the praise it gets.
KBS - Had this before but this particular bottle was from '09 if you look closely you'll see it's a twist off which shows how long ago that was. The booziness was mellowed out quite a bit and what was left was damn near the best thing I ever had.
Harvest Ale - Paled in comparison to Heady but still a damn fine offering
Imperial Hyper Dog - This surprisingly held it's own with all the rest I had today, Pipeworks is stepping up their game in terms of stouts lately.

At the risk of sounding like an alcoholic I also had a few other beers today but these were the big boys
