Flying Fish NJ 350 an English Strong Ale brewed with Pale Malts, Flaked Barley and Blackstrap Molasses. Named for the 350 NJ has existed as NJ. Flying Fish has up it's game as of late. If you see this try it.

My paternal great-grandmother - from whom we actually get the version of out last name (instead of Parniczky, my grandfather's birth name, which is apparently a mouthful for Americans) - was named Maria.

Happy Sunday everyone. Making some burgers for my 13 going on 14 year old's b day with the family. Ordered him a new pair of Oakleys that will be lucky to survive the summer. I got my benches finished up on the deck (minus stain) amidst a very busy work week for the occasion. Of course, now it is raining all day.

Have a dance recital to attend first, but found time to squeeze in another NEW STOUT SUNDAY.

This is an excellent brew. Coffee is surely there, but very nicely balanced and not overpowering. I would describe it as a FBS less the oatmeal and a toned down on the beans. Roasted, chocolate malts with a very good aroma. A little on the thin/watery side, but very well done. Overall, I would give it a 4. Outstanding.

Officially released to the public this weekend. Henniker Brewing Artisan Belgian Style Ale from New Hampshire. 4% ABV. More like a pilsener.

I tried this a few months back, and I was the opposite of blown away. I was kinder than you, but that's because I was giving them some major benefit of the doubt. Not a good beer, and definitely not a good DIPA. (Also, like you, I enjoyed the mouthfeel, but that was about it.)

Clown Shoes is a bit pricey, but they've earned several looks from me now. Hoppy Feet 1.5 was an excellent black IPA; Billionaire is a delicious cognac barrel-aged English barleywine; and pretty much every stout or porter I've tried by them has been at least good, with a couple being great.

I usually run across their DIPAs when they're old on the shelf, so I have little experience there, but so far, very good stuff.

Smashingly hoppy and tight big pale featuring Nugget, Calypso, and Comet hops. Something from NZ is alluded to as well...

    Awesome ale.

    Cheers, all!

Big shout out to @Greywulfken and this is what NBS is all about! Many months ago he posted about Halia and how great it was and I commented on the high price tag. He told me that it was worth it and to get it. Well after passing it about 100 times in the store I finally bought it since it seemed like the perfect warm weather beer to try.

Here goes! Aroma is very nice with some yeast, wet hay, unripe peach, lemon and minimal funk. Taste is spot on fro what I thought it should be; big tart unripe peach, lemon zest, yeast, wet hay, minor notes of funk and spice. A terrific treat on this spectacular Sunday!

This brew reminded me of a new-hop Ruination: super bitter and hoppy, but with a slightly more modern profile. I was impressed at how much bite it had; a very old-school kind of DIPA in that way.

.....maybe it's just me, though, but I didn't get crap for Elderberries or anything.

Thus far, Halia is my favorite of the "sisters." I don't get a ton of peaches, but it's damn tasty, nonetheless.

Certainly not any sweet peach flavor, but I can taste the sour unripe peach notes.

    Glad you liked it!

    Cheers!

    Nice assessment.

...and I don't know nothing about no elderberries neither.

    Cheers!

Maria, I am almost to my 500th beer as well, just 2 behind you, but it took me 2 years. I will be at 495 before the day is done, unless I pass out. Congrats on having so much fun trying new beer!

I look forward to hearing about the beers up to your 500 both here and in WBAYDN. Drink a little water you'll be fine. Congratulations. :grinning: Wouldn't it be something if we reached it on the same day?

Here are the girls doin' some old school right!

I've been waiting all morning to post this. Not really a new beer for me but new for this season and now in cans!! A great light ale with just enough watermelon flavor . Not to sweet and crushable at 4%. I had 4 of these while mowing my lawn this morning. Next in deck is a real new to me... Bruery's 5 golden rings courtesy of @mohagandi. I had the 6 geese last and thought it was great.

Yeah, but it's Small Batch and Handcrafted*! That makes it artisanal, just like craft beer!
(The asterisk is all theirs, oddly enough.)

This is turning into New Beer Geneology Sunday!

For the record, no Marias in my ancestry, but a whole plethora of Marys...so, maybe I can hang:grinning:

Definitely! My maternal side has a history of Marys; my grandmother, my aunt, my great-grandmother. Mary is the English version of Maria.

New Beer Geneology Sunday; I like it!
