I figured this was the appropriate evening for a Rhino, seeing as I dropped my little brother off at a ferry up to Alaska on Friday and he just reached his destination about two hours ago. It was a brief visit, but we had fun and bonded over him practically saving my life after a wave tipped me into the water halfway to our destination. We hadn't even started drinking yet!!
He's up in Alaska for the summer as the cook on a seining boat. I'm excited for him, I think it'll be a good summer, and he's going to make some dollars!

I didn't have anything particularly Father's Day themed, so I went with the Arctic Rhino, from Midnight Sun. I must say, I was fairly disappointed. A pretty colour and aroma were overtaken by way too much carbonation, and a flavour profile that refused to followthrough on the promise of the nose. Rich coffee, roasty malts and a sweet vein of chocolate turn into burnt grains and a bitter mix of char and... bleep bloop blop. Oh well, can't win them all.

Good afternoon of hiking with my moms and pops and our puppy dog (she just turned 13), exploring some trails on the island with which I had yet to make myself familiar in the previous 25 years. Beautiful trails and finally some decent weather after raining the last couple of days.

Happy fathers day to all for whom it applies, and get well thoughts to our valiant host (and welcome back to our previous host for his cameo appearance!!)

This has been stuck in my head, even though it isn't necessarily father-y (yes, I'm contributing to the gentrification of NBS via photo/video. It happens)

I wore light color clothing, tucked in, DEETed to hell, checked carefully while in the woods, checked carefully at home, and still an infected deer tick got me. Again. Little mf's are so hard to find once they are on you, and their bites are completely painless. And I swear they have learned to ignore DEET.

Don't all Jack's Abby bottles have a bottled on date? IIRC correctly, they all do.
