Greetings fellow NBSers! Another fine and lovely summer day here in the Fourth Corner. I'm house sitting with my Nephew again, and after the NASCAR race, we're going to go play in the creek. I didn't join last week. I worked a 7hr shift starting at 5:30 am (there's TWO 5:30's in the same day? Who knew?) last Saturday, then hosted an overnight event for a certain very large software company based in the NW, didn't get done until 7am Sunday. After about 4 hours sleep, I went to a beer festival here in town, and since I know people, I got in early (and free!) and was "sampling" by Noon. The fest ended at 5, and a few friends and I went to a local bar for a couple more. I was napping soundly by around 8:30.

A friend of mine is a mechanic for a pro cycling team, and travels a lot. Recently, he made a trip through Quebec, and brought me a few brews. I grabbed the Beer Camp 12 pack last night, and I'll start on those later, but Canada is up first: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/25775/96530/?ba=beertunes

Barf? No; dank is more of a sticky sweetness, and from what I've heard, Dinner is a dank DIPA. But it shouldn't taste like barf. That said, the profile just might not be for you (@Shroud0fdoom and I both prefer Another One and MO to Lunch, but the rest of the country freaks out about the latter; different palates for different folks).

Afternoon everyone, beautiful day in Chicago. My post workout/ yard work drink is Beer Camp Double Latte. I've heard good things about this one and did not disappoint. Favorite Beer Camp yet. Cheers!

Happy Sunday, NBSers! I haven't posted here for a bit because I've been on vacation and/or in just a horrible funk, but here I am today all shiny and happy to share my "new beer to me" stuff with you all!

I am a runner and I won't lie: a large part of my motivation is that if I run, I get to drink whatever I want! Plus, every runner knows how important it is to hydrate and replace carbs after a run, so I ask you, what better post-run beverage is there than beer?!

My all-time favorite shower beer is Heady. It's delicious, duh, and it has the added benefit of "drink from the can" so there's no chance of ouchy broken glass in the shower. That said, I"m always on the look out for new shower beer.

Today, after my 5.5 mile run, I tried No Da out of Charlotte, NC's Hop Drop n' Roll. I got this as an extra from that west coast bon vivant @JayORear. This is described as a West Coast style IPA, brewed with Citra, Amarillo, Centennial, Warrior and Chinook hops in a whopping 10 hopping cycles. For those of you who are home brewers, I think you can appreciate how insane 10 hop additions are! I remember one particular attempt at home brewing a so-called "continuously hopped" beer that turned out absolutely awful, so I appreciate the craft and know-how that goes into this stuff!

I think this beer is a total success. The aroma of this beer is unparalleled--you could smell the hoppy goodness from across the room! The flavor of the hops, fruity, earthy and piney all at the same time, is nicely balanced with an assertive shot of malt. Love this beer, must have again!

    Hello everyone ! Finally Sunday-

Woke up real late this morning to a sick muggy summer day. Now that I've shaken the cobwebs off it's time to sit outside in my usuall hangout spot by the furnace with the radio and my dog. Angels are in Tampa so I'm sitting here wondering what kinda Cigar City beers would be found around the taps of Tropicana field.

    NBS!

I picked up a bottle of Almanac Cerise Sour Blond to share with y'all today.

Schlafly Kolsch, This is the 7th. different Kolsch I've tried in the last month or so. All 7 have been good 4 (Schlafly, Captain Lawrence, Gaffel & Reissdorf ) have been just about the best new beers I had this year. Lucky for me a local chain is featuring Kolsch in July & August and have gotten most of them at a good price.

Taking a quick break from beer for some late-lunch brunch: 3 scrambled eggs mixed with leftover ribeye from yesterday (tossed in spices), and refried black beans with cheddar, all of which was drizzled with Texas Pete:

Now, to wash it all down with a New Local Beer: Beer'd Brewing Mystery Bag DIPA.

I picked up two growlers for personal consumption of the brand-new Beer'd brews: Mystery Bag, and One Night Only (highlighted last night on WBAYDN?, as well as the first appearance of today's ribeye). ONO was delicious and impressive, earning a 4.34 / +1.6% (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30321/131692/?ba=Roguer).

So how does Mystery Bag stack up?

It's super fruity, almost all tropical. Very drinkable, with a bit of the syrupy mouthfeel that so many DIPAs succumb to, but not bad at all. Beautiful in the glass, and very tasty. My one complaint is something I've never brought up before, even with Belgians: bubblegum. It's there on the aroma, it dominates up front on the palate, and it lingers and mingles with the other flavors throughout the sip.

I'm not used to that, and I have to admit, it takes away from the beer just a tad. Review below:

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30321/131691/?ba=Roguer
    3.89 / -4.2%

Yeah, it's technically a -rDev, but since I was the first to tick this beer, I think it means that everyone else is overrating it.
(The reverse argument is true for One Night Only; as I was the first tick, clearly my +rDev simply means that @PicoPapa, the only other reviewer, just doesn't get it. :stuck_out_tongue: /kidding)

That's almost certainly my last new beer of the day, NBSers. I'm sure I'll see you over on WBAYDN?. Cheers!

I'm a Tampa fan (I lived there twice, and I own a home there), but the halos are far more interesting to watch. Pretty nasty little rain delay there...but that's Tampa for you: the lightning strike capital of the state that is the lightning strike capital of the nation.

Once Price was traded (because...of course he was...*sigh*), the Rays again became not worth watching, except to notch the occasional win over the bruised Yanks and hapless Sawx.

But....that rain delay was a great opportunity to grab some more beer. :grinning:

Perennial La Bohème. Wild Ale aged two years in wine barrels with Michigan tart cherries. This beer is pretty much perfect. You have your typical funk going on in here. Sour dark fruits, oak, cherries, vinegar and something else that I can't figure out. This is very similar to Wicked Weed Black Angel, but it's more sour. I just love me some dark sour ales, especially as an extra. Cheers!

After being in a car accident (no one was seriously hurt but I tore up a muscle in my arm and my car is pretty well smushed in) did the sensible thing after dealing with police, family, car insurance, wreckers and applying first aid when I got home. Had my husband pour me a beer. (Since my right arm is being all wonky from shoulder to thumb). Looks like I am going to practice being left handed for a week or so.
Good People Coffee Oatmeal Stout out of Birmingham, Alabama.
    Serving: Can

Appearance: Dark and opaque, finger of tan head that dies down into lacing and a small collar.

Smell: Malt, sweetness, coffee, raisins, oats.

Taste: Malty sweetness in the front. Coffee in the middle. Tiny bit of hops at the finish and leaves with another bit of chocolate sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Smooth with more carbonation than I am used to seeing in this style.

Overall: Breakfast of champions. Coffee? Check. Oatmeal? Check. Fruit? Check. Chocolate? Check.

Passable local offering. Worth trying, worth sharing and wouldn't mind having it again.
