    So I have this neighbor.
    This neighbor is into beer.
    This neighbor has friends.
    Those friends are into beer.
    Those friends live in Wisconsin.
Those friends mail beer to my neighbor.
My neighbor shares that beer with his neighbor.
    My neighbor is awesome.

Wow...great change of pace here; huge tart apple and spices up front, next to no bitterness. This has the characteristics of a cider, and it tastes an awful lot like one. Exceptionally easy to drink, this one made for a smooth and refreshing experience: kind of like Autumn in a glass. I don't have a lot of experience with "fruit beers", but I might be inclined to try a few more after sampling this lovely little offering. This is also my first experience with New Glarus, but I have a few more in my fridge. Like I said...my neighbor is awesome.

What did you think? Like it? Why? Hated it? What did you hate? Recommend it? What are the beer's best/worst features?

Welcome to NBS, we like to talk about the new beers we try here. Different than WBAYDN for sure.

    New Spice Beer Sunday
In the spirit of the season, I had my first spice beer of the season.

Thanks to @Tammisbutler for the chance to sample this local goodie!

Hope you all have a fine American Ale in your perfect pint, nonic, or snifter today.

    Happy NBS,

    Matt

    Fat Head’s Spooky Tooth

Aroma: Mild cinnamon and nutmeg notes up front. Slight clove and pumpkin character in the background. Clean fermentation character.

Appearance: Hazy brick red pours with a low sudsy off-white head. Head retention is fair.

Flavor: Prominent cinnamon and clove character up front. Slight peppery flavor sneaks up on the back of the tongue. Moderate clove-like phenols. Balance is to the bready malt character but masked by spicy overtones. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste lingers and is spicy.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Slightly creamy. A slight alcohol warming.

Overall impression: A big, bold, spiced ale. The upfront pepper and clove character makes me think this was fermented with a Belgian yeast strain. Enjoyable and worthy of aging.

Well you guys I thought I would kick off with a little pre halloween fun and Elysians Dark O the Moon. This beer went well with a movie called Tucker and Dale vs. Evil . Cheers everyone and Happy New Pumpkin Stout Sunday.

Pours a handsome pitch black with a mocha or chocolate colored head of creamy foam that lasts and adorns the glass. The nose is cinnamon and nutmeg. A faint bit of allspice and a light fragrant ginger to really perk up the nose. The malt on the nose is roasty but biscuity too. Creamy and smooth smelling even on the nose. There is a faint bit of light chocolate and that is a surprise. Pumpkin scent is hard to find but it's there. taste is heavy with cinnamon. The body is creamy and the malt is impeccable. The roast is deep and flows freely. At the back palate there is a slight bitter from that roast that is so lovely. The spices are all there but I wish I could taste more pumpkin. Cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, clove and ginger. The chocolate flavor seems to smooth out this beer without really taking center stage. The mouthfeel is creamy and silken. There should not be any alcohol on this palate at only 6.5 percent but there is a twinge of it in the finish. There is a slight hop bitterness that takes the tongue for a brief moment before this one finishes dry and with that lovely dry pie crust to linger and that very dominant cinnamon.

Of course! Really liked it, very drinkable, fairly low abv ~5%. Pretty smooth IPA, lots of different hop flavors in this one. Getting some subtle grapefruit/citrus notes. Each Morph has been very different, all very tasty in my opinion.

That is the 2013, but all the fruit beers hold up well with age. Apple is probably the weakest fruit that New Glarus makes, so you should def. try all of them. Very easy for anyone in WI to get for you.

Good morning, well the last few minutes of morning here on the west coast. Today is a typical cloudy, chilly, windy, and semi rainy day here. I arrived home to find my house still standing from last nights storm. Lucky me for not being home for wind and power outage. I stayed out of town after the hockey game last night. Now tuning in to the chefs game and they're winning. Hopefully they don't blow it like the royals did last night.
First up Evil Genius Evil Stout:
This one reminds me of a Dove dark chocolate dar. Smooth and chocolatey.

Second, not a new one here, but new to me.

I could have saved this one for Thanksgiving. Reminds me of late fall and tastes like pumpkin pie.

    Hello Darlings!

I apologize alliteration iterations fail me today. A foggy morning has turned into a gorgeous fall day here in the South. Dealing with a minor domestic drama over homemade hair cut today. (My eight year old has given herself a mullet and given her father a - I don't know what it is called when a man his age becomes so upset he has to take an aspirin and a nap) Everyone is safely out of my hair for a few hours so it's beer time!

This one reminds me a of a rich rustic brown bread studded with dried fruits. I still like La Fin Du Monde better but this one is certainly delicious.

Ugh. 7 years is way too much. The beer has a lot of promise - although it's very, very hot - but the staleness really kills both the aroma and the backend. I tried not to kill it on the review, on that premise, and tasting what otherwise seems like a thick and tasty malt profile.

Thanks for the welcome! It is a very fine beer but they seem to have retired it. Still I hope to find a few bottles hiding somewhere and I hope you get to try some before it vanishes for good.

    NEW SAISON SUNDAY

Hello NBS, I'm starting to feel a bit spoiled by all these perfect fall days! We tried to go for a hike today but there were huge piles of leaves all around the visitor center that needed schusseling. And schussel we did, lots of fun! This wore the little guy out, so while he napped the wife and I tidied up the yard, pruning dead things etc. I refreshed myself afterward with this:
