I really like NBS beer pictures that feature the beer outside. Who's with me?

I'd post more outside pictures on over-cast days. I'm outside for 30 seconds and the beer in my glass has already skunked. I do mostly drinking indoors now, for the beer's sake.

Well, I surely agree about this nice family, and I genuinely appreciate your entreaty. But the one thing that I've found about New Beer Sunday is that there's way more to this communion than beer. I love beer and it's been a huge part of my life, but the intellectual connections, humor, music, and real learning all mean more to me than beer ever could. I've spent much of my life immersed in music and literature, and folks around here seem to have done the same. Waiting for Sunday sometimes I feel like a little boy anticipating a big game, a trip to the mountains, or just walking around on a wondrous May day in the Carolina woods. The music prevents negative politics and ties people together like nothing else. This is very sad for sure.

I think that's illegal in my state!

Seriously, that sounds like a beer I will have to track down.

I generally agree that music as it relates to what people are doing is a nice touch. As a compromise, maybe if the posts were more limited (one per?) and the focus of the post it would meet moderator approval? I can see how 2 lines of text and 5 videos seems to be less about the beer; and as @JMS1512 mentions, if it affects site performance, maybe a little self-policing will allow music to stay in our beer lives?

New Lagunitas Oat Pale Ale Sunday!

Well, well post number two! I told @TongoRad I would do this brew for NBS, I am a man of my word. I just got done cutting the grass now I needs a new Beverage to share my thoughts on! You ready gang?

This brew pours rich for a pale ale. Deep medium Amber body with a soapy white head. Very outstanding looking to me. I'm going into the Aroma! Huge malts and Grassy nature with Spearmint earthiness. On the backend more notes of Spruce sap. Very earthy brew! Taste test time! This brew hits the palate first with dense sweet malts that carry the hop oils gently across the tongue. The flavors are similar to the aroma but with a deeper spruce sap quality. This finishes sweet and dry with a subtle bitterness. Aftertaste of spruce and spearmint. The feel on this brew is medium built and smooth.

Overall: I dig this brew, it's sweet for a Pale Ale that's my only complaint. The rest of this brew is a success without any Citrus notes, just an Earthy Hopped Pale Ale. The Oats add a smooth body to the brew. This isn't earth shattering great but it's well rounded and enjoyable. This brew is Worthy!

    Grade: B+

"Go away or I'll call the Brute's Quad" "I'm on the Brute's Quad" "You ARE the Brute's Quad"

OMG I wish I could give this beer all 5's just for the name. The first bottle offering in Willoughby's 14 years of existence (also their 14th anniversary beer!) I had to pour it into a chalice given the reference.
They definitely did a good job with this- the bottle says "Belgian-style dark strong ale" but I think it fits the quad style better, epecially given the name. All of the dried fruits and burnt sugar notes you'd expect for the style are there. Definitely big and I'm saving the second half of the bottle for later, but tasty and I'm looking forward to trying my second bottle with a bit of age (since bottles allow that sort of thing )
Now back to yard work with a slight buzz since it's a gorgeous afternoon in NEOhio. Cheers!

    Greetings NBS!

I've been absent for a little, but figured this was the week to show back up. Docs are pretty sure I tore my meniscus, so I'm sidelined on the couch for a little bit. I can still manage to hop over to the beer fridge though...

Today's new beer: Cockfight by 18th Street.

Nice cloudy pour with a fluffy chalk white head. The smell has notes of lemon, coriander, some wheat, and to be honest a bubblegum ester that I usually only smell in hefeweizens. Taste follows the nose quite well with a little more lemon tartness present to complement a bready, yeasty flavor.

Overall a very well done beer by 18th street.

Greetings my NBS friends! Today I'm reviewing Revolution Brewing Fist City. It's labeled a Chicago Pale Ale made with Cascade, Citra, Centennial, and Crystal hops. That's a lot of my favorite hops! The abv. is listed at 5.5 percent. I've heard some good things about this beer, so let's see.....

It pours an almost clear deep gold color with a one finger of frothy white head. Tiny carbonation bubbles gently float to the surface.

The aroma is a bit herbal and grassy with perhaps a touch of pineapple. Reminds me of a fall wet hop ale.

Flavor is mild grapefruit followed by a hint of lemon zest and some pine. There is a bready finish that complements the hops quite well. One might say it's quite balanced!

Mouthfeel is oily at first but finishes quite crisp and dry. It reminds me of some of the hoppy lagers I've had in that regard.

My synopsis? This is one tasty low abv. treat of a beer! There are many qualities that remind me of a wet hop ale or a hoppy lager. The best of both in my opinion in a very drinkable beer. I'm going to inquire about getting a keg for the warm weather ahead. All said my score was a 4.29/5 rDev +5.7%.

Enjoy your Sunday and new beer adventures!

Very well said my friend this is my feeling also. Always put a lot of thought into this thread. Even though I don't know any of you personally I feel like we are all about family when we post here. I will admit I do tend to get carried away here at times but that's because I'm sharing with my beer family. I understand the predicament here and agree with @cjgiant would be willing to pare it all down to keep the music..........kinda feels empty without the "whole package" but its something I'll learn to live with. Its all good!

Almost all my beer photos that I post on BA are/were taken outside. In my particular case, the lighting's better than indoors.

I was pretty satisfied with it for sure. In my opinion, it surpasses Bitter Valentine as awesome VA DIPAs.

Made a quick trip to my in-laws for my mother-in-law's birthday, and then spent the afternoon trying to catch up around the house. Time to relax for a few minutes and enjoy a new beer.

I've heard some good things about Modern Times, and thanks to @SanFranJake, I'm trying Blazing World today.

Part imperial Amber, part IPA - this is an interesting beer. Lots of dank hops and a sweet malt backbone to balance it out. I need to find some more Modern Times beers...

I'm a brash young brewer - right, 48 years old. I'm on the verge of opening a commercial brewery in an existing - amazing - deli in Cramerton North Carolina. But you know what - I don't feel that old - I'm in love with the most incredibly attractive woman in the world (sorry guys), I just spent the night in Hickory doing Hickory Hops - which I also judged - wonderful event, actually my favorite. Now I'm home - and drinking this for the first time:

Gobs of Belgian candy sugar - bananas - bruised fruits - bubblegum sweetness - not the best beer Wicked Weed has made, but a lesser brewery could hang their hat on this one.

And here's the man - the myth - the legend - Wes Long, who chose Mantooth because he loves the movie Anchorman - and because the rival was named Wes Mantooth. I love hanging out with you guys - Cheers!
