Good morning my fellow NBSer's. I'm a little late to the party but after putting down the brew I'm about to describe I was in no shape to do anything but snooze. It was a gorgeous day in north Jersey yesterday, mid 50's and sunny. My Jets won, my fantasy team won which qualified me for the playoffs. Between all that and the fine brews I consumed it was a great day all around but the best part came when I poured myself this amazing brew. I am a big fan of Founders but I must admit I tried their latest Backstage offering pretty much expecting to be let down. I am not a big black IPA fan but I do trust Founders overall so I picked up a bottle of Project Pam when it landed in this area. After the Jets win I decided it was a good time to give it a try. I let it warm just a bit and poured it into my favorite tulip. Holy crap - that first taste was a eye opener. Anyone that knows me has seen me with that " holy crap " look after I try a really fine brew for the first time and this one is just that. Wow ! Most black IPA's leave me with a nasty after taste but there was non of that. Just a wonderful flavor that was slightly sweet but yet had a nice thick mouth feel. I actually sat up after that first taste and looked at the glass in amazement. It pours black but is so drinkable. This is the best of Founders back stage series in a long time and IMO their best non-stout beer overall. I'm going after work today to pick up another bottle or two. I'll probably drink one on Christmas and let the other age a bit. To anyone out there who is not a fan of black IPA's normally I say do yourself a favor and try this beer ! Its fantastic. Cheers all
