Poured from a 2015 750ml bottle into a Duvel glass. It is a beautiful glowing cloudy deep orange. The carbonation produced a fizzy off-white head that immediately dissipated into a fine soapy ring that settles back into the beer.

It smells tart, acidic, yeasty, and fruity. Apricot/peaches and some subtle spice.

The flavors really don't stray much. It is sour and spicy initially, then a very strong ripe peach settles in and lingers forever like you grabbed one of the tree and took a big bite out of it, rind and all. There is some wood and apple cider vinegar, and a distinct musty aftertaste is also noticeable.

Carbonation is prickly and it has a bit of a lip smacking finish.

A fantastic beer. I am a big fan of peaches and this doesn't disappoint with tons of fresh peach flavor front and center.

That is AWESOME. I went to the first game at "The Cov" back in 1988 (took my then 10-year-old brother - he's been locked in as a big-time baseball fan ever since), and over the years, I've taken Little O and Mrs. O, nieces and brother's-in-law, mother's- and father's-in-law, customers and their family's, and friends to games there. Probably been to 25 games there, but the last one was ..... late 90's? Need to get back.

Hey NBS people. A buddy of mine Hooke me up with this hybrid style beer from Departed Soles from Jersey City. First beer from them. Philoso-rapper, a Belgian Tripel/blonde.

Pours a pretty amber color. Smells of those fruity esters that a lot of Belgian beers have going on. Tastes the same, but with the blonde aspect the Belgian bananas and cloves is somewhat muted, with more of a light fruity aspect coming forward. Very creamy mouthfeel. Easily drinkable beer for the 8% ABV. Overall not a great beer but an enjoyable one on this sweet Sunday afternoon.

Well guys its been a busy week here, I've been back and forth to Ontario a few times, and started posting video's on my youtube, Beer review channel, Beyond The Suds! Beer Reviews. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiBGTaEp9oN_2yZUreEQu9Q My first video sucked but I think I'm getting a lot better and my 5th video of this beer should be up in 2 hours or so. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think! subscribe! Rate! and Like! or dislike (truth is I'm doing it for fun so Dislikes work to!). Anyways so on to the beer.

This is brett Zeste Saison by Le Castor Brewing Co. or Rigaud Quebec. and it is an absolutely fantastic Brett Sasion! I'll let my review do the talking though cheers!

Appearance - this beer pours an extremely cloudy golden color with 2 and a half fingers of foamy head, The head took a while to fade down and still sits at half a finger.

Aroma - Brett funk, bubble gum, Orange peel, Melon, mango, grainy malts, coriander fresh brown bread!

Taste - Again beautiful brett funk like bubblegum followed by a nice fruity bomb. orange peel bitterness, mango, melon, some grainy malts, leafy hops, and fresh brown bread.

Feel - Light medium body, carbonation inbetween velvety and creamy but quite refreshing!

Overall - Another fantastic summertime beer. I'm finding a lot of these lately. Truth is I'm partial to a good brett beer but this is really fantastic. The flavors and aromas mesh well the feel fits it perfect. Wow!

Hello, NBS! My plan is to spend the rest of the afternoon planting. I really do love this time of year, when all of the gardening plans are made and set in motion, hopefully correcting for all of the mistakes from years gone by. Hope 'springs' eternal, as they say ...and then it all turns to crap come the dog days of August :slight_frown:. Battling the deer and rabbits have been my biggest problem so far, but the begonias and sedums have been my greatest ally the past year or two, so I am really counting on them for a winning season! :sunglasses:

Accompanying me on this fine day is a Classic American Pilsner by Beach Haus-
    [IMG]
I did take a practice run with it yesterday, but it was served at garage temp and drank straight from the bottle. As a result I put the remaining bottles in the 'food fridge' to get nice and cold, and this is really my first serious attempt with the brew.

The Classic American Pilsner is one of those styles resurrected by homebrewers and beer historians. It was an intermediary of sorts, developed at a time before there was such a thing as an AAL (which eventually came to dominate). These beers are hopped at true 'Pilsner' levels, and do feature corn as a part of the grist. The reason for this is to serve as a nitrogen diluent, and that just means that the native 6-row barley that the German-born brewers had to deal with has a protein content too high and not suitable to brewing the fine lagers that they wanted to make. Those proteins will affect clarity, stability, head retention and mouthfeel. Corn provides fermentables without any proteins, so it is a natural way to overcome the obstacle set by the American barley.

You don't see too many of these available commercially, so I'm pretty inclined to grab one as soon as I see it. But just how does Beach Haus stack up, anyway?

I guess the best way I can put it is to say it's growing on me. There is an overall coarseness/roughness here that makes for a bit of a bumpy ride- both in terms of bitterness (which is pretty damn high for the style, plus it's not what you'd call a 'clean' bitterness). The aroma is both hoppy and grainy- the hops provide grassiness as well as lemon zest- with a noticeable corny undercurrent. The palate takes those elements and amplifies them, with the corn and bitter lemon peel vying for dominance.

Mouthfeel is interesting. As you can see from the photo, this isn't exactly a clear beer, which sure looks like a protein haze; the mouthfeel is the same way. I'd have to give it a few knocks for not being as crisp and clean as I'd expect, and just a bit too husky. The malt flavor is right where you'd want it, though, with a sweet-ish bready quality that ultimately finishes dry; this does provide a nice counterpoint to the serious bitterness that seems to be getting some distortion from a minerally water quality.

The bottom line is that it's not all 'dialed in', which kind of counts a lot if you want to make styles of beer like this. They do hit a lot of the right notes, and by mid-glass I'm getting accustomed to the bitterness, so the remainder of the sixer will be enjoyed on its own terms. But I also see a missed opportunity here, which is a bit of a shame. B for effort (3.4).

Cheers, all, and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

    NEW RIS Sunday
    Greetings NBSers,
Drippy feel here in SCMN with some warmth. Storms later, supposedly. That's okay as we could use some rain.
Thanks for @utopiajane providing her typically informative and celebratory introduction.
Still working through the joyous selection of beers from @cjgiant with a RIS from Lickinghole Creek Brewery in Virginia.
This is a solid version. Still a little fresh having been bottled in 2015. Nice complexity and an extended bitterness on the finish that fades out nicely. Good soft feel too.

Good afternoon to all the NBS followers and thanks to Maria for the great send off as usual this morning. I've had a busy weekend here in central NH as we are doing a rather large expansion on the deck in the back of the house I've completed the framing and the decking and am in the process of installing the new railings at this point but decided I'd had enough for today and am going to relax a little. I did take time out earlier to get the smoker started and loaded a couple of racks of baby back ribs in for dinner tonight.
I hope to return with some after pics when they are finished.
Now on to my beer for this NBS and that is Single Speed IPL from Moat Mountain Brewing Co.
This beer poured a darker orangey red color into my glass. A thin white formed on the top and disappeared quickly leaving just some white lacing around the edge. The nose is soft some aromas of the bready yeast and some overtones from the hops. The taste follows the nose with the bready taste I kind of expected from this style beer. The hops are mild but do come through. The mouth feel is smooth nice carbonation and clean. In all this is a solid beer for the style that they are trying to put out. I think they may be a little behind some of the others that are making this style beer. I would drink this beer again but I wouldn't go out of my way to pick it up.
Hopefully time will allow me to get back later on with another new beer.

This brew pours a clear straw color with a small white head and light lacing. Low carbonation.

The smell blends together wheat, malt and hops very well. The wheat and the malt dominate, the hops are light but definitely present.

The taste follows the nose with wheat and bready malt on the front and then a light hop finish. The feel and finish are a little oily due to the hops; overall, this is a nice lightly hopped wheat beer.

    Hey what's going on?!?

Man what a gorgeous day today. Had some regular beers while getting the lawn and yard work done. My hop vines are SPROUTING!! oh man it's actually working! pics to come later when they get bigger.

But with that said, too much of a nice day to spend drinking all indoors in front of the PC today. But got some new ones in before some friends come over... gonna grill some burgers...

Hope you are all doing well... my home team one TWICE this weekend.. (but also lost hint hint) but it's the end result that matters so I am happy clam..

Time to dig into some goodies... what is new for our hero..?

Cigar City Brewing / Swamp Head - Slow As Molasses
    by imbibehour, on Flickr

    ----------------------------------

Poured from the bottle into a snifter glass. Bottled October 21st 2015.

A big deep peach orange, solid and opaque body. Settles with a simple collar of tan to white color. Still looking, barely a bit of a top on the brew, but a neat body color I must admit.

Real intense nose. Sticky molasses almost getting into toffee richness with a real nice fruit sweetness. Sticky quality gives a very orange marmalade and peach taffy like quality. Hints of resin as well. Very fascinating aroma, nearly jammy and opening up a jar of preserves.

Palate takes a bit more simpler sense. Lighter body, almost chalky aftertaste and feel but goes for quick sap and tight resin feeling on the palate. Mid palate is very fruity, hints of peach, marmalade, candied orange and light sugars. A great mixing light toffee malt and American/English hybrid Barleywine hop like presence that permeates as well. Fleeting aftertaste slightly. Candied fruit and jelly.

A real neat old ale, looks American, tastes English, but is all a real neat unique creation.

Hi everyone. And thanks, Maria, for your introduction this morning. It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon here in northern New Jersey with mild temperatures and a little breeze tickling the wind chimes. A perfect afternoon for a Saison al fresco. This is Blackberry Farm Classic Saison from Tennessee. I had heard excellent reports about it and had to resort to BeerMenus to find it. It was worth the effort. The head looks like gelato. I compare American Saisons to Hennepin and this one is very good. Here's my review. Enjoy your new beers this Sunday. I enjoy reading your reviews and getting new ideas from you.

Poured from cork and cage bottle into tulip glass. It opens like a champagne bottle, fairly exploding, and pours a hazy golden straw color with an enormous, foamy, snow-white head that looks like gelato, and extensive lacing. To pour a full glass, I had to pour it several times and wait for the head to dissipate. It smells of yeast, lemon peel, and spicy hops. The taste features lots of lemon, Belgian yeast, and really nice, balanced spices. It is tart, crisp, and finishes with a slight hoppy bitterness. This ale is fairly light in body, and really well-carbonated. With a moderate ABV of 6%, it is easy to drink. Overall, this is a well-crafted and delightful Saison, ideal for sipping outdoors a lovely Spring day.

Been sitting on this one for a couple of months:

    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26762/214605/?ba=Premo88#review
    4.07 (-2.9% rDev)

I've had the base beer Hellfighter many times and BBH many times, and this BBH with chocolate tastes almost no different from regular BBH. In fact, it's more earthy and less chocolatey. It's not terrible ... lots of good bourbon flavor and aroma with a beautiful big-stout look and that classic inbetween Hellfighter mouthfeel that's heavier than a thin porter but lighter than a thick stout.

The beer is a B+ for me, but it doesn't deliver the promise of chocolate on the label -- I think of a beer like Ballast Point's Victory at Sea, an A+++ brew that packs all of that big sweet stout goodness, and had hopes BBH-Chocolate would be similar. It's not, and a quick check of the website shows why: There's no extra chocolate added. It's just aged in Old Forester barrels. OK, so it's a miss, but it's a good miss.

I've had Huevos the Puppy Dog over for the week, and the hijinks between him and Midnight the Cat have been quite entertaining.
