Pours the color of pineapple juice. Half a finger of white head which stays about the same all the way down, leaving not much lacing behind. Watery pineapple juice, yellow and opaque.

Light smell of citrus and perhaps tropical fruits.

Tastes of nondescript fruits, light malts. A bit thin, perhaps watery, aggressively bitter. Not at all juicy, as the name might lead one to believe.

Fairly light and easy to drink. Expect bitter rather than juicy.

Second contribution, a new beer to both myself and Beer Advocate.

New Glory continues on their trend of solid offerings under new head brewer Kyle Leddy. Just Here for the Comments is a modern take on the West Coast DIPA. I found it both dank and tropical, but a little thin and the ABV is sneaking through due to a lighter body. Complete rating link, BA rating = 4.14.

I've been looking I can't find a place that's close to Morrisvile. The Von Trapp site kinda sucks. I'd assume Joe Canals in Lawrenville would be a target, but their site too doesn't help

A: Beer pours a dark black body. Very little head in the beginning but quick to go away. No lacing or head while drinking.

S: Bourbon overpowers all the other smells. As it warms I can pick up faint chocolate and peanuts but mostly bourbon.

T: Big Bourbon tastes. Some chocolate and peanuts like flavors. The barrel dominates in the beer.

M: For a 15% ABV this drinks smooth. Honestly the the mouth is bit thin. Very little burn as it is being drunk. Best part of the beer.

O: I have been looking for this most of the summer. Had doubts it would make it to Oklahoma. Glad to have tried it but it was a letdown. Likely once is enough.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a one inch white head over a hazy golden body with sticky lacing. Another orange juice bomb with nose of all types of citrus. Taste mirrors nose with a seriously dry, fairly bitter finish which isn't really anticipated by the fruity nose and front end on the palate. Fairly good feel and overall pretty nice.

So much good stuff from American Solera. Think I actually sat next to @r0rschach before this BIF got started at their anniversary party.

One last new beer, Bearded Iris Double Homestyle DDH w/ Galaxy. Very enjoyable and a nice improvement on regular Homestyle, thanks @Grizzarky!

One more from my local favorite Rock Cut in Estes Park CO that I reviewed over a simple but delicious bacon cheeseburger dinner at Poppy's Pizza. It's a NE style IPA with an abv. of 7.2% called East Portal. It looked, smelled and felt the part, but the taste was lacking. A very floral and slightly spicy taste with a strange flavor in the finish. Perhaps vanilla used for the feel?

A drinkable enough beer that went well with the burger. They're still a relatively young brewery and hopefully dial in future attempts at the style. Here's the complete review......

Hey, all. My NBS beer for today was given to me by my very generous brother-in-law over the weekend, and is one I've wanted to try for awhile. Lost Abbey Deliverance-

Look- motor oil black; thin tan head; some patchy lacing

Aroma- dark chocolate, smoke, leather, raisin, booze

Taste- follows nose very closely, finishes with a warming alcohol burn and some lingering chocolate

    Feel- medium-bodied

Overall- very enjoyable sipper with a nice medley of flavors and smells that meld nicely

I've got one more to try for this week's NBS, Culmination's Sour Flower Power Hour. This one was given to me during a recent trip to Portland, OR. I didn't get to drink it out there, so I shipped it back to PA. Glad I did because it's damn good.

Look- clear golden liquid with a huge rocky head that dissipates to a thin ring after about a minute. Substantial lacing.

Aroma- Roses and berries followed by some musty hay and sourness

Taste- starts off floral and berry-like, then a little bitterness comes in followed by moderate tartness and mustiness. Finishes tart and mildly bitter.

    Mouthfeel- light-bodied with lively carbonation

Overall- very enjoyable, unique hoppy sour. Never had this combo of tartness and mustiness with floral notes and it works quite well.

If somebody else pointed it out and I missed it, my apologies for the repeat ... concerning the green bottle:

Jester King puts some of their beer in green bottles. In fact, they sometimes offer a particular beer in both green *and* dark brown bottles. That's rare, but I know I've seen them do it at least once (maybe with Fantome del Rey?). Using the green bottle is arguably bold depending on your point of view. Jester King's seems simple enough: They like a little light-struck skunk some of the time, and whatever happens inside the green bottles enhances the farmhouse character of their beer.

Btw, that brew looks amazing! American Solera's stuff needs to migrate south about 400-500 miles.

    Melvin 2x4

Here's Melvin beer #3. Climbing up to 9.9% ABV here. It might be my favorite of the bunch. The syrupy and strong nature of their "IPA" isn't here. This one is stickier and drier... and even lighter. This is the deftest one in the bunch considering its weight. The other reason why this one works so well for me, is because the hit of resin is balancing out the fruity qualities that were in the forefront of the other beers. This is a great beer.

    Hello Late Night NBS

Well, I finally popped a few bottles from @FlintB 's amazing onslaught in our NBS BIF #6.
He definitely earned some points for me with the wife ala Munsterfest from 3Floyds.
My wife loves a good Festbier and this was well appreciated. We got some fresh Brats to go along with said beer and the Founder's Dirty Bastard Stone Ground Mustard he sent. Amazing. Really made this Sunday a great one. Thanks Brian.

But I wanna write up the T.O.R.I.S. the Destroyer (Hoppin' Frog Brewery, OHIO) he sent.
My wife and I really loved this one.

Pours a deep, thick, midnight in a cave, nearly mahogany. Dark brown tiny bubbles form a milky head. Absolutely alluring.
Smells of roasted barley and oats, bitter baker's chocolate, and a gentle warmth that hints at booze.
Taste begins with roasted oats and barley, some deep, dark roast coffee, and some bitter chocolate. Then some of this is reined in a tad by a mild creamy sweetness. Mouthfeel is so full, yet creamy, yet again chewy. The flavors move all about with the full mouthfeel.
Overall, if one is scared off by a chewy RIS, this will not be their cup o' choice. As for me, I'd jump at a chance to have it again.
