Went to Suarez Family Brewery today. They might be my favorite New York brewery that’s north of NYC. My reactions here will be more sparse than usual.

On the left is Bones Shirt, their dark lager. It’s roasty and very creamy in texture. It doesn’t strike me as a lager. On the right is Duly Noted, an American pale ale made with all Vienna malt. The malt doesn’t seem to distinguish it for me. There’s a pineapple quality to it.

Had a great time being indulgent at their brewery!

    Cheers.

Good evening, fellow NBSers! My first new beer is one from Dieu Du Ciel! that I brought back from Montreal about a month ago. Prior to that trip, and a visit to the brew pub, the only beer of theirs that I’d had was Peche Mortel. I tried several while at the pub and brought back a bunch and all have been great, including tonight’s Aphrodisiaque-

This one was bottled on 4/13/17, so about 8 months ago

Look- pours black with a 1 finger tan head. very little lacing

Smell- caramel, vanilla, a little bit of roast

Taste- starts with a quick sweet jolt of vanilla, caramel and little chocolate, followed by an intense wallop of burnt roast and accompanying bitterness. The vanilla than comes back and it finishes slightly sweet and bitter.

Feel- fairly light bodied with easy carbonation. Easy drinking.

Overall- I was worried that there wouldn't be much vanilla or chocolate left because of the age on this one, but both were there in varying amounts, especially the vanilla. The sweet and bitter compliment each other really nicely. I look forward to getting some more next time I see it.

Finally home and squeezing in the only readily accessible beer I can find in the kitchen fridge, for some reason when my wife bought me the beer fridge for Valentine's last year we thought it was a good idea to put it in the bedroom, she's in there snoozing and I know it's not a good idea to wake her.
I actually picked this single up so I could jokingly tell her I found a beer with her name on it.

Pours a clear brown, held it to light to see how clear it was(I could read the logo on the other side of the glass) more of a dark red than brown in color.
Smells sweet, vanilla, chocolate, some coconut, caramel, and a bit of sweet roasted malt.
Taste follows, I didn't see anything about vanilla but for me it's there. I get more coconut in the taste than on the nose. Sweet chocolate, caramel, sweet malt are there too.
Feels medium bodied, more prickly carbonation than I had expected.
    Overall a decent brew.

I'm just hoping my DAWGS can keep Baker Mayfield in check.

One more from Dieu Du Ciel! tonight. This time it’s Dernière Volonté w/Brettanomyces-

    Bottled 1/16/17

Look- opaque, deep golden liquid with a 2 finger foamy white head. Lots of small floaties in this one, I'm guessing due to the age

Smell- musty with a nice refreshing light floral and fruity thing going on. Can't really pinpoint a fruit, maybe like canned peaches but not as intense

Taste- starts musty, followed by bananas and tangerines, finishes mildly bitter

Feel- medium bodied and creamy, really pleasant

Overall- The flavors on this one worked really well, and the creamy mouthfeel just served to enhance them. This was a really enjoyable beer.

A: Beer pours a dark yellow almost amber color from the can. Lots of head came from an average pour. Head quickly goes away leaving no lacing and a small ring of head.

S: Tropical fruits up front and center. Picking up a nice amount of grapefruit and oranges. Very hop driven aromas coming from the beer.

T: Grapefruit and mangos. Smells are dominated by hops. I do, however, notice some spicy alcohol smells.

M: Pretty typical attempt at a NEIPA. A bit more alcohol burn than I prefer from beers of these style. The mouthfeel is fairly soft and easy to drink.

O: Fairly average beer. The tropical smells are a highlight from the beer. Too many better options to drink if looking for a similar beer.

Good evening, all, and Happy Better-Late-Than-Never New BBA Stout Sunday! I'd been hanging onto this KBS ever since the 2017 release, and I decided it was finally time to give it a go. If I may say so about a beer from TSUN, this is the color of a buckeye. Big hit of chocolate up front, with roasty malts, espresso bean, bourbon, and a little tart black cherry. Very smooth, with no harsh edge at all. Straight-up world class.

Well, folks, we have sold out of this week’s posts. But do not worry, we are not discontinuing the thread, and will be sure to brew up another batch of new beer reviews next week, with your help, of course. As a reward for your help, we’ll give you a free forum to express your thoughts

Until then, cheers to a week of good beer, new, revisited, or staple :beers:
