I found three cans of Harry Doesn't Mind DIPA from Singlecut. I gave away two and am enjoying the third.
The yellow-orange can pour has a thin foam cap and a tropical nose. The flavor is really rich with guava, mango and orange. The hop bitterness is light to moderate. The mouthfeel is very smooth and there is no alcohol note. This is very similar to Heady Topper in many aspects. Superb!

Did you happen to stop by and try any beers from Adroit Theory? They were out there for the event.

Lots of running around to do today so I had a light beer with breakfast, my wife made her pound cake french toast (using pound cake in place of the bread).
I'm certain I will gift beer this Christmas and hopeful my stepdaughter brings some Angry Chair goodies when she comes to town (they know I love that place so I'm fairly certain there will be some goodies coming my way).
Speaking of giving and the overall good nature of the beer community this morning's beer is Sonoma Pride from Creature Comforts. It's a fundraiser beer led by Russian River to help with the wildfire relief, all profits are donated to The King Ridge Foundation.

Pours a hazy, golden yellow with a finger of white soapy head.
This is labeled as a hoppy blonde ale but if I hadn't read the label I would think it was a more sessionable IPA. Lots of melony aromas, some peachy tones, biscuity malts.
Taste follows, ripe melons, peaches, good malty base.
Light to medium bodied with good carb level.
Overall a tasty beer, IMO more of a session IPA than blonde ale.

Good prevening New BSers! We returned undamaged and unbowed from my only outdoor shopping expedition for this year - it was a total success, other than not getting Chinese for lupper. My second new beer of the day, this one I was able to add to the BA data base and I get to do the first review. The first beer of the day for me was also the first review for it, but someone had already added and rated it.

    $ 13.00 (Including tax)/bomber ($ 0.591/oz) at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA.
Bomber undated but the label says Release #1, 2017. This was stored at room temperature at the store and was stored at 45 degrees in my garage. It is served at 47 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Aroma – Weak spices and stronger whiskey.
Head – Average (Maximum two cm, aggressive pour), tan, dense, good retention, slowly diminishing to a two mm ring and a thin scummy partial layer.
Lacing – Fair. Partial rings of tiny bubbles with gaping holes.
Body – Very deep garnet, clear.
Flavor – Quite mellow. The pumpkin is present in the slightly earthy taste, but the subdued mulled spices balance it nicely. It ends with a bit of caramel. The whiskey barrel and the alcohol (10.3% ABV) are present in the aftertaste and the mild, short-lived, gastric burn. No hops, no diacetyl.
Palate – Medium, creamy, lively carbonation.
Impression: One of the better pumpkin ales. This is not like many where it tastes like you’re chewing a spice ball. Here the pumpkin, spices, and barrel meld into a pleasing blend of not-too-sweet aromatic goodness. I may have to pick up a couple of bottles to cellar.

    Appearance 4, Aroma 4.25, Flavor 4.5, Palate 4.25, Overall 4.25. Rating 4.34, rDev 0%.

Is that even legal? Maybe just as long as they don't distribute outside of a state where it's legal?

    My god that sounds amazing....

Good Sunday afternoon, New Beer Samplers and commentators. I had so much fun with the Day of the Dark yesterday that I'm reviewing The Bull Abides, a new Russian Imperial Stout from Bolero Snort. BS has been consistently inconsistent lately and I've been avoiding its new releases but RIS is my favorite beer style so decided to give it a shot - and I'm glad I did. it's better than I expected. In fact, it's quite good although I would tone down the vanilla just a little. Here's my full review:

    4.19/5 rDev +1.7%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Poured from 750 ML bottle into Bolero Snort all-purpose glass. It pours jet black with more than a finger of creamy, mocha-colored head and lacing. The nose features roasted malt, chocolate, freshly brewed coffee, nuts, and faint dark fruit. The taste is a little lighter and sweeter than I anticipated and the first thing I notice is vanilla and lactose, along with fresh coffee and cocoa. There is also discernible black cherry. It finishes with a slightly bitter, dry nutty flavor. In fact, it features all the classic RIS flavors and they compliment each other nicely. This stout is medium-bodied and not particularly chewy, with low carbonation, and it really doesn't drink like 10.5% Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised. Russian Imperial Stout is my favorite style of beer and Bolero Snort is better known for its IPA's but this is quite good. It features all of the tastes I expect and it's an easy drinker.

The Bull Abides has helped restore my faith in Bolero Snort. I hope it's not misplaced.

Enjoy your new beers today, everyone!

I encountered a rather odd IPA today. Stickman Brews Celis Hate Me Not a fan of this IPA. It is screaming for help
    Look 4.5 Smell 4 Taste 2.5 Feel 3 Overall 3
    Total 3.13

Poured into a pint glass at 40 degrees. The head of the beer is a frothy and airy with okay retention. A beautiful pale gold color with an amber tint. Clarity of the beer is hazy. Yeast floats within the murkiness.
The head tatted lacing on the glass as it dissipated.

Initial aroma of the beer is floral, lots of tropical fruit, citrus, and a touch of pine. Additional aroma is crackers, yeast, grass earthy, honey-like sweetness, and a subtle lightly toasted malt.

Big fruity hops flavor of citrus, pineapple, floral, and a touch of pine. Additional flavors in the beer are herbal, crackers, earthy, yeasty, lightly toasted malt, phenolic, a honey-like sweetness, grass, and earthy.

The mouthfeel of the beer is crisp and dry. A medium body, medium carbonation, and medium-plus finish in the beer.

The yeast something to behold in this beer, it is powerful. I find drinking this beer difficult. The last beer I had from Stickman was a funky IPA. Honestly, I am left speechless, nothing left to add.

It sounds great! I was going to try it this weekend but with the snowy commute on Friday night I deferred. Then, on Saturday I ended up going to Rushing Duck. I hope TE brews Old Raritan again.

Your reactions are so similar. It's possible that both of you were expecting something other than what the brewery intended. There is no "requirement" for a winter ale or a Christmas ale to have any spices.

I'll get this right yet guys. Another suburban Chicago brew that's pretty solid IMHO.
L: Pours a foggy orange with a slightly off white head and a decently laced glass.
    S: Pine, caramel, and hops.
T: Juicy hops and a bit of spicy peppery finish.
F: A bit oily, nicely carbonated and a bitter finish.
O: Probably their best year around beer. Some of there sean

Ok, Victorys Mighty Things DIPA. Pours nice, slightly hazy short or turbulent. Really a nice nose, sweet fruit I think, maybe a bit of pineapple. The taste really does follow, its nicely bitter for a double, but it's quickly taken over by the sweetish fruit on the finish, but it's not sweet. Just a hint. It's a big beer over 8% Abv, but there's no booze on this. It's a really nice beer, it finishes easy and it's very pleasant. I like the bit of bitter pineapple, the earth doesn't move, but it's not dull average either. I'd say if I rated it maybe 4.25 or so, and at $12 plus a six it's a decent value price wise. I'm enjoying it on a Sunday, Birds won ugly, but there's no style points.
