Sounds like you may have a browser hijack malware issue...if you have security software on your computer (e.g., Norton Security), try running a full security scan plus try downloading Malwarebytes for an additional scan and scrubbing of your computer.

Starting my Sunday on something light.

12 ounce bottle , dated as Enjoy by 13Mar19. Poured into a tulip.
Pours a crystal clear pale yellow. Smaller head, but great retention. Small amounts of lacing but a light, white cap of foam during the whole drink.
Aromas of lemon, lemongrass, cracker and dough.
Not complex and similar profile as the aroma. Crackers, lemon, light, small skunky finish.
    Light, crisp, bubbly body.
    Very drinkable, refreshing.

Dark brown-black-looking beer, basically opaque, with a fat tan finger of head on top... Rich and malty, earthy and almost peaty, with heavy sweet bread and molasses, caramel, tobacco, leather, and booze-soaked dark fruits... Big-bodied and smooth, sweet and only slightly bitter... Has a bit of heft and chew as it shellacs the palate... A real killer...

    Hey what's going on!?

I am chilling this weekend, enjoying myself on a much needed break from a busy week.

I don't got much else to say, great opening joke by the way this morning...

Time for some new beer! What's new for our hero today?

Grinder Espresso Stout | Red Shedman Farm Brewery & Hop Yard

Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass.

Minimal head creation, a faint light mocha to tan color with fine bubbles. Settles to a barely half finger top, on a simple dark mahogany brown body. Some clarity through the top.

Very nice coffee aroma. Hits more towards a bit of milky sweetness of evaporated milk, perhaps addition of lactose present giving that quality. Creamy sensing, but also quite sweet smelling. Minimal sensing roasty or char malt base though, but a very inviting aroma.

Palate seems to take a bit more of a different direction. Very light bodied with hints of minimal coffee flavor. Some dry grains but also a touch of mild sourness and a bit of only light roast. Surprisingly more milk stout but barely in flavor with a hint of cream texture and palate. Finishes a bit sweet surprisingly.

This comes off more of as a light bodied milk stout, with a solid coffee aroma but not in the palate. Drinkable but relatively weak and ordinary!

Happy NBS BAs! Today I have an entertainingly named NE Pale Ale from Thimble Island called Just Tha' Tips. Little did I know this would relate to @lordofthewiens opening joke.
Poured from an undated pint can to a Nonic.
Frothy thick head, hazy gold, but not real hazy. Mildly aggressive pour resulted in considerable overspill with about 4 oz left in the can. Super head only lasts a couple of minutes.
Not much aroma from this one. I know my nose is good as I've been detecting other nuance aromas all day.
Flavor is mild considering the Cascade hops and add-ins. Despite the label, I sense maple. There is a sweetness that is probably the Juniper but I cannot identify it as that. Spruce comes in the end.
Mouth feel is borders on sticky, which perhaps was the goal.
Well, this is just average. Perhaps my undated can goes back to the release date. Entry date into the BA database is 12/23/18 if that is any indication.

Big and frothy head crowns this hazy, burnt orange beer. Aroma starts out a little sandy earthy before tangerine and mango settle in, only to give way to a nose full of floral. Taste starts similar with a gritty, earthy bitter that carries a little veggie before tangerine and not quite ripe orange gives a big blast. As the taste fades out a bit of caramel sweetness joins grapefruit to supply both the finish and mostly dry aftertaste.

    Time for another new brew...

The Craic | Harpoon Brewery & Beer Hall

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass. Bottled Dec 17th 2018.

Real nice fluffy forming top, off yellow more khaki in color, with come very good retention and lacing. Manages just to squeak under 3 fingers, but nestles nicely on a perfect clear copper body. Not much visible carbonation, but a nice glow and appearance. Fine looker for sure.

Aroma is very nice. Soft malts touching caramel with floral and light scented pine hop quality. A bit hop forward as anticipated, but not overly, giving at first floral and some slight perhaps dank/earthy notes that are noticeable but subtle. The malt sweetness goes perfect with this, definitely stickin in Irish Red Ale quality but not so much Big American hop amber senses.

Palate seems to definitely though go more for the American gusto. Slight touches of caramel sweetness, but a good hop bonanza. First gulp in the mid palate loads with citrus like orange to grapefruit bitterness and sweetness, followed with juice earthy pine. Aftertaste is a big pine blast with some real caramel toffee like balance with the added sweetness. A real creamy mouthfeel kicks in as well, there's some real girth and softness to this brew.

The brew really does feel like it's in a sweet spot right now. Will have to make a mental note to grab more of this in the future.

    4.25 across the board...

    Cheers!

Great Notion - Passion Fruit Mochi
    [IMG]
Clocks in at 7%abv. Per print on the can, “Passion Fruit Mochi is a thick, juicy fruited IPA fermented with toasted rice, milk sugar, vanilla, and of course Passion Fruit!” Hops featured are Mosaic & Citra.

    Thoughts:
I did have a 5oz pour on tap, but it was among the many I tried when visiting. I think this will do it more justice. Here she goes..

Canned 2/4/19. Drank from 10oz Great Notion flute glass.

L: Pours like juice, looks like juice. Don't know what more to say. Completely opaque, zero clarity. Very slight head formation consisting of loosely packed bubbles but it did not retain. No lacing on glass. I could fill a tropicana container full of this and go out in public glugging it and nobody would bat an eye.

S: Tons of juice character, namely the passionfruit. Aromas of tangerine and orange also noticeable. I get generous amounts of vanilla along with that rice cakeyness that you smell in horchata. That vanilla is elevating the score for me.

T: From what I can remember, I think it is drinking better from the can then on tap. The passsionfruit is abundant and is tasted from start to finish, lending a sweet fruit/tartness to the profile. Vanilla also is trying to share the stage and is even more noticeable on the finish and in the aftertaste. Hops are lemongrassy in taste and seems somewhat green on the finish. Nice bitter tinge at the end as well. The thing is, I can taste the mochi rice aspects of this beer which is a plus. One of the better tasting "milkshake" ipas imo.

F: Thick in feel and in weight. It is very slick in texture but not chewy. It isn't soft, creamy or pillowy, rather oil-like and viscous. Carbonation is moderate lending slight fizz element. Moderate bitterness as well.

O: I am rather enjoying this, especially given the nature of this beer. It has tons of vanilla and passionfruit flavor with just a touch of hoppyness that brings me to realize that there are some IPA elements to this beer, though minimal. It's a novelty brew that I am glad to have tried.

    Verdict:

A rare second new beer for me today. I guess that is the benefit of having the thread start just after midnight! I may even have a third later tonight...

With a late lunch of overcooked grocery store chicken fingers and lukewarm scalloped potatoes I am eating because I needed something quick, I am having Collective Arts Collective Project IPA No. 8.

Collective Arts seems to be the local brewery that is most widely distributed south of the border. I like their beers but don’t drink them too often. This is for a couple reasons. First, I tend to do most of my beer shopping at local breweries. Collective Arts is down in Hamilton and I live in the northern part of Toronto. I could get their stuff easily at local liquor stores, but tend to not shop at those very often due to freshness and storage issues that are endemic at the LCBO. Second, while I like their IPAs, I can think of 3-4 local breweries who I prefer That make that style. Nevertheless, I happened to be in an LCBO recently picking up some bourbon I’d ordered and decided to get a few cans.

    The review:

Pours an opaque gold with a fine head that likes to linger and lace the glass as the beer is imbibed.

Citrus notes dominate the nose. There is a hint of dankness, as well as some indication of pine. The overall effect is quite inviting.

Taste is similar to aroma, with the pine coming forward a little more and the layers of citrus - orange, grapefruit, pith - stepping back just slightly. Pleasantly bitter, mildly dank finish.

Thick and creamy with moderate carbonation. Pleasant.

Overall, a fine IPA that falls right about where most of the better CA offerings land for me. 4.0.

As an aside, I’m a little surprised the art on the label passed the censors here. We are one of those jurisdictions where Founders Breakfast Stout has gone baby-less. The censors tend to reject names and art that either suggest children might be encouraged to consume the beer, or else be attractive to children due to the label art. The cute cartoon on the can would seem to fall into the latter category. But, who knows how unecessary government employees do their jobs...

    Cheers!

I love that beer, but only had it a few times (perhaps from @cjgiant but I can’t recall). Can’t recall any floral or veggie hops, so thinking this might be a bad batch? Mine was all citrus and tropical. I couldn’t get enough of it!

I'm a huge fan of Einbecker, and that one sounds like it fits in seamlessly with all of their bocks.

If I had to guess about the Extract Content I'd say that it may be an unusual translation of the starting gravity (how much sugar was 'extracted' from the malt), not that there is actual malt extract in the recipe: in this case 16.4 brix would translate to about 1.066, which is right where it should be. I believe that in Germany 'Bock' has a legal definition, so they just may have to state that their beer complies.
