Getting in under the wire after a long day of travel and a day spent at the in laws house in FL. My wife picked up this local one at the store for me:
In the Shaker pint glass, this one was a light pale straw color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was there but somewhat muted. Classic citrus and pine combo along with faint bready malt. The taste followed. Actually the citrus and piney notes popped in a great way. The malt was dry and there was a neat biscuity note. Medium bodied and off dry on the finish. Overall a very enjoyable beer, glad there are a few more in the in laws fridge to crowd out the macros!

    Color is awesome, obviously.

Tons of pineapple and mango comes through in this via nose and palate. Little bit of resin, quickly overcome by juiciness. Super soft and just easy to drink. No off-tastes or detectable alcohol in this one.

    Treehouse Double Shot Coffee Stout

Second stout I've had from Treehouse.

Appearance is black with dark tan small head.
Aroma is big bold espresso and roasted malts. Spice and chocolate.
Taste is very strong dark roast coffee. Much more fudgey rich chocolate as it warms up. Great coffee flavors. Nice lightly acidic dry finish. Avoids being sweet while still having lots of chocolate, but not your typical dark bitter chocolate.
Mouthfeel is nice. Medium plus body, not super viscous. High drinkability asking for another sip after each one I take.
Overall, awesome coffee stout. Wish I had my paws on the vanilla variant. And I'm sure a whiskey barrel aging would put this into otherworldly territory, but I can really appreciate the execution of a pretty perfect coffee stout.

    Cheers guys!

Hi there late night NBS! Cracked this one from @CanConPhilly today:

Moments of Ballooned Psychic Progress from Tired Hands:
L: Half inch off white head, darkish yellow color.
S: Getting some pineapple notes and citrus. Little bit of tropical fruits also.
T: Taste is more hop forward than expected, but not unwelcome. Also getting hints of citrus, tropical fruits, pine and garlic.
F: Medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation.
O: Overall a pretty nice IPA.

    Thanks Matt!

Gingerbread Stout by Hardywood. Poured from fridge temp. Pours jet black with quickly dissipating light brown head. Nose is roasted malts, licorice, gingerbread, and vanilla. Taste is fairly smooth, with roasted malts, some burnt wood, licorice, ginger, lactose, and a touch of dark fruit. Mouthfeel is creamy and thick. Overall, not a bad stout, but nothing spectacular.

That made me absolutely laugh my ass off!

Sorry, no beer pic to provide, though. I drank too much last night, and when I woke this morning my body gave me an undeniable message that it would be a good idea to lay off of it for a day.

    Cheers!

    Well Hello Late Night NBS!
I've been busier than shit lately. I'll be damned if life isn't getting in the way of me popping on to BA to view my beer ****, read some great musings from y'all, and even plot my next strike(s) in our little BIF madness. Yes, I am amazed to see that in spite of all the wrathful doings of the weather gods, our NBS BIF #8, and it's surprise offspring NBS BIF #8.5, are STILL causing damage. Some crazy folks here.

Today I popped a little APA that I expected to be good, but having been duped before, I didn't have high expectations. Often a band, to tv show, or some other pop culture phenomenon gets wrapped up with a brewer with mediocre results. Well, this one did not disappoint.

    American Beauty by Dogfish Head

Copper colored with a finger high cap of off-white foam. Nice retention. And some nice sticky lacing.
Smell is malt, floral citrus, and honey. Quite inviting.
Taste follows the nose beautifully. Biscuity malt, buckwheat too. Orange blossom honey sweetness leads. Then the sweetness retreats enough for some gentle citrus notes, grassy nuances, and slightly drying herbal spice too come in.
Mouthfeel is medium, decent carbonation, and a hint of slickness.
Overall, a nice, not so "long strange trip it's been." Sorry, I had to. I wish this beer was around when I was going to shows. This would have been perfect for drinking all day before and during a show.

And I rarely break the unwritten rule, but...really miss those shows with Brent.

I always get the "warm and fuzzies" when I see Adam here. Especially HERE, as it means it's someone's first time. Don't let it be your last, as he only improves with age. And that #99 (the most recent batch) was an exceptionally good batch. I've had more than my fair share of it this year and can't wait to see how it develops.

    Cheers.
