It’s a crazy combo seeing Mikkeller art on a Uerige bottle.

After a few weeks away, I’ve finally got a chance to sit down and have a new beer this Sunday.

I consider myself lucky to have grown up in a nice almost-suburb of Montreal. It was a pleasant upper-middle class town on the rivière Mille Iles, one of only a couple officially bilingual towns in the province. It was safe, quiet and we had a lot of space to play; we played baseball in my side yard because the backyard was a little too big. I don’t know if I’d want to live there now and raise my kids there. There is Something about the way the suburbs have changed in the past few decades that have caused them to become cultural wastelands. My mother in law lives in a suburb of Toronto now and I cringe at the thought of moving out that way. I much prefer city life and what it has to offer both me and my children. My wife and I have chosen to live in a part of Toronto in which we will never be able to afford to buy a house. One block from where we live a small 3 bedroom semi-detached home in need of a little updating just sold for $1.8 million.... But, we live behind the 2nd best rated primary school in the Province, alma mater of the original Miss Moneypenny, I might add! We’ve decided to trade home ownership for a lifestyle we like and we think will give our kids a great footing. Who knows though...

Anyway, on to the beer. Today I am having a raspberry sour from Beauregard in Montreal.

Pours a deep dark red with a matching head that dissipates quickly to nothing.

Raspberry nose. Raspberry candy. Little else punctuates the overwhelming raspberry.

Sweet fresh raspberries picked right from the bush. Lightly tart. The hops are distant, just a memory. More raspberry.

Effervescent. Light to medium body. A little sticky as the sip is finished.

This is a top notch raspberry beer. The fruit shines, the tartness is gentle and mild and right on point. If you see this, buy it and enjoy.

They also did a collaboration with Gaffel for a Kölsch.
