Yeah, my main store was having trouble selling Bruery at the retail price and they just fuck it and dropped all their old bottles down to $5. I ended up buying 4 bottles that is was on the fence about solely because of price.

Bruery Brycescotti is up next. Poured from fridge temp. Pours jet black with a lot of light brown head. Nose is almonds, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and roasted malts. Taste is insane. Lots of coffee, black licorice, dark chocolate, lactose, bourbon, and tons of almonds. Wow - such a great marriage of the flavors. Some sweetness up front, but quite bitter (dark chocolate?) on the back end. Mouthfeel is super creamy and full. The aftertaste lingers for ages. Awesome beer.

Fifty West Remus' Revenge Series - Barrel Aged Death Valley Shootout Stout

12 oz bottle from Tavour. Pours out like an oil slick, black and flat. Roast malts, smoky. Taste is bitter, ashy, dry. Minor sweetness and a lot of heat. Big ABV, but not a lot of bourbon barrel.

    Hello Late Night NBS
Well, our situation continues to rapidly evolve, maybe devolve. So many things going on. So I'm hoping a beer will be a nice distraction.
Wasn't in the database, but now she is.

    Poured from a 16 oz can stamped C1-CANNED 03/05/20
    Label lists:
    Hops:Neomexicanus, Sabro, Sabro Cryo
    Malts:American 2-Row, Canadian Pilsener

Pours straw colored, mostly clear, with a frothy white dome that slowly recedes to a thin layer of minuscule bubbles ringed by a firm white ring. Moderate, clumpy lacing.
Aromas of grassy citrus notes that move toward floral lemon. Coconut peeks in at random moments, but disappears in the melange of citrus and a finish of spicy, herbal hop notes.
The surprise comes now, in the flavor. It begins with coconut. It is distinct yet subtle. Smooth, but does not come off as some contrived adjunct. It begins and continues but really takes the place of the citrus notes that were foreshadowed in the nose. The finish goes mildly sweet, akin to orange blossom honey.
Mouthfeel is fine for an IPA. On the lighter side of medium feel and carbonation.
Overall, a good IPA that does something interesting with the nose giving you a head fake.

PS...this one is looking at a box. I think she wants to jump in. Haul Hint?

Brother, you know if you ever want Bruery (particularly something a few years old) hit me up. Cellar reduction is a constant goal.

Found some Perennial Abraxas, pretty stoked about it. Got one for now and one to age, but this is my first time with this bad boy

minimal, frothy mocha head that dissipated pretty quick, deep black-brown. Straight heavy-handed pour into a brandy snifter chilled.

Cinnamon upfront on the nose, boozy wafts of chocolate. Pretty good

tastes like a cinnamon and sugar seasoned chocolate churro, some pumpkin pie. leaves a thick, dank, but nice, aftertaste.

    Viscous umami, oily and thick.

overall pretty damn good, I can believe the hype, especially with the barrel-aged variant, which based off this I’m not opposed to trying/hoarding. Gotta be honest there’s a Goldmund by Solemn Oath that slaps a little harder than this. A step above Stone’s xocoveza. Still, happy to find this

Sneaking in one last new beer before Sunday ends and my first full work from home week begins ...

BrouCzech Dark. I have had the Brouček Lager previously and really enjoyed it, so I have high hopes for this one.

Pours a very dark brown color with auburn tinged edges. Completely opaque and somewhat cloudy when held up to the light. Aroma has notes of fresh bread, cocoa, caramel, a slighty twangy yeast note and some spicy hops. Taste follows the nose with notes of fresh bread, cocoa, a bot of sweet caramel, and molasses giving way to a spicy hop bite on the back end. Quite nice and well in line with the Czech dark lager style. For me, it falls into a middle of the pack. Its pretty much better than any of the American versions I've had, but there are other Czech import versions I'd take over this one. Still, a real treat to enjoy. Cheers and g'night all!

Ya, same. I just moved, and hauling the whole 'cellar' to the new place... and trying to convince the GF that there is a place for all of them in the apartment... if there's any positive to be taken from this whole quarantine and shut down situation, maybe I can actually make a real dent in the 'cellar!'

Whoa! Got so caught up in hunkering down, practicing my "social distamcing" and keeping track of the pandemic shenanigans locally (Washington just shut down bars and restaurants) that I forgot to post my New Beer this pandemic Sunday.

It's about mid-20s outside. On Friday we got a couple inches of snow. At the beginning of the week it was high-50s so the most recent Friday the 13th seemed a bit rough, especially with all the doom and gloom of the Coronavirus, whose American epicenter is about 300 miles to my west and has now made it's way to my city. Starting tomorrow, if I want a restaurant's food, I'll have to pick it up curbside or hope they deliver. And bars are simply closed til further notice. Not sure if brewery taprooms are similarly closed or not-probably are.

Today I hunkered down with an Eisbock that was bottled nearly 10yrs ago:

Say what you will about Redhook, this is a pretty decent eisbock. Fairly mellow from a booziness standpoint(some reviews from around 5yrs ago emphasize an unpleasant alcohol heat that is mostly gone now) yet quite flavorful, with a complex maltiness that is sweet but not cloying. Kinda wish I'd bought two now. Fairly certain we won't see something like this from Redhook again now that it's an InBusch brand.

    Cheers, everyone, and stay safe!

Alright, speaking of LNNBS, We've had real spring weather around here... some days it's bright and crisp and clean and beautiful, some days it's blustery, some days have rain... etc. My parents live up in the islands about 80 miles north of here and told me they had a full on Nor'Easter over the weekend. Nor'Easter, you say?

Nor'Easter from Kulshan Brewing (even further north than my parents, though only by a bit) is an English Barleywine.

Medium brown body that's not really THAT murky, but certainly not crisply clear, there's also essentially no head. Maybe some light galactic swirl, but that's abot it. Surprisingly there's at least minimal lacing, though it's sparse. But still more than I'd expect given the dearth of head.

Nose is malty off the bat. Some raisin and bourbon, hints of chocolate and coffee. Roasty.

Flavour starts with a burst of sweet that dissipates into what initially presents as kind of a generic old ale/english barleywine profile of RoastyMaltyTobaccoChocolateCoffee before a rich ribbon of the same. Really alluring and slinky... dark chocolate covered coffee beans. This bumps it from a 'meh, it's ok' to 'oooh... that's really tasty'
Smoothe and drinkable I think this falls in the pleasantly enjoyable category, but not one I need to go out of my way for.
