Sample from the brewer at Idletyme Brewing Company which is right across the street from our store.
    Thanks Will!!!

    22 oz. bomber.
    (Remember those?!?)
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 5/8 inch white head over a bright, light straw colored body with scant lacing. (3.75) Nose of apple, mango, papaya, and slight citrus. (4.25) Taste is semi-dry with the fruit there as well; finishing fruity, slightly dry, bitter, and tart. (4.25) Good feel (3.75) and overall, a very lightly soured and quite refreshing offering from IBCo. (4.00)

Crane Guava Weiss. Excellent Berliner. Poor head retention/no lacing as expected. Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy pink guava, fruit skin/seed, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, green apple, white grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, peppercorn, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced creamy/grainy wheat, lactic acid, and fruit tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing acidic/tangy/carbonated dryness; minimal puckering sourness. Very flavorful/refreshing, not overly lactic, zero warming 4.3%. Awesome balanced juicy guava and lacto complexity; with a great clean pale/wheat malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp acidic/tangy dryness. No complaints! Spot on style. 4

Drinking this at home due to the ongoing pandemic. I did buy some crowlers from my local brewery, so I am excited to get into those.
But, this is my review of NOLA's Darkest Before Dawn, a Munich style Dunkel.
    A new beer to me.
Poured from a can into a pint glass.
Appears dark brown with a foamy head that dropped very quickly.
    Smells malty, bready.
    Taste follows the nose.
Mouth feel is medium for the style.
Overall, I probably wouldn't order again.

Back in the day, Floyd’s beers were hard to get anywhere but the brewery - and many were hard to get at the brewery, too.

    Now, they’re pretty accessible.

Not that one - it flew off the shelves. Glad I could secure a 6er, and glad you enjoyed it. I think it’s excellent, especially as you stated so adroitly, because of the chipotle peppers. They make that beer, IMHO.

Thanks, those BIF’s are awesome, and Terry does the work. I speak for the group when I say the work he’s done over the years is highly appreciated.

    Good evening NBS
My first Revolution Brewing beer of the day was the perfect compliment to my salad at lunch. This one is a perfect compliment to an alarm set for 0330...
Ten Year Beer by Revolution Brewing
    The review:
12oz can filled 01-10-2020 poured into a Duvel glass at 50 degrees 12.5% ABV. The beer pours dark brown with mahogany highlights and light brown head. The head recedes to a thin ring and island. Minimal lacing. The aroma is rich malt with hints of vanilla, dark fruit, oak and bourbon. The taste is semisweet caramel, cherry, raisin, brown sugar and vanilla with an oaky, mildly bittter bourbon finish. The mouthfeel is medium plus bodied with just less than medium carbonation and a mostly dry finish. No trace of alcohol in the aroma or taste as it approaches room temperature. Overall, excellent. I can't adequately describe how balanced, flavorful and delicious this beer presents itself.

There you have it. I've never been disappointed by Revolution. So glad they started distribution to Indiana a couple years ago. I used to bulk at their $7-9 Deep Wood twelve ounce cans, but now I won't pass on one. Cheers all & enjoy the new beer in your glass!

You should get a chunk of beer money for those Anubias, they are huge! Now you are making me miss my fish room and planted tanks... but I sure don't miss all the work to maintain everything. Maybe I'll restart one tank... just one. Someday.

An easy pour reveals a fat finger of tan rocky foam with long retention and drooping blotches of lace. Opaque and deep dark brown, almost black.

Mild smell of herbal, piney and spicy hops with roasted barley and toasted dark bread. Some caramel malt and baked pitted fruits appear.

Semi-dry with strong bitterness, rich malt profile keeps the balance. The bitterness involves white pepper, baking spice and a bitter astringency from roasted malts/barley. Items from the smell are bigger in the taste. The finish is long as well as the very bitter and dry aftertaste.

Full body, Stout-like richness with lasting carbonation. Very bitter yet balance (somewhat) and smooth.

Guayaberas, and similar shirts throughout the post colonial Spanish empire (like the Philippines), are very popular and even accepted as formal attire in many cultures. I have a few. They're friggin cool, and make we want a little umbrella in my beer.

Pittsburgh has always been, and still is, outside of 3 Floyd's footprint, but we're close enough to have heard the buzz for a long time. I think the first time I got my hands on some was in Cincinnati in 2014/2015. It was a bottle of Robert the Bruce at a restaurant. A friend of mine travels between here and Wisconsin often for work and hooked me up with Alpha Klaus, Foggy Geezer, and I think Gumballhead. I didn't get to try Zombie Dust until 2018 while visiting Cleveland. Now I can drive about an hour to a few spots near Youngstown and they have multiple varieties to choose from. And I realize I wasn't even aware of them back in the exceptionally rare days, but they've always been a brewery to chase for me.

    For beer #2 today:
    Von Trapp Maple Rauch Lager
Pours a dark cola, almost black hue with a tan 3/4" head that lingers leaving a thin cap with plenty of lacing.
Aroma is of maple cured smoked bacon, sweet brown bread and spruce tips.
Taste is smoked malts, caramel malts, lots of pure grade B maple syrup-not artificial in any way.
Theres a good punch of the noble hops as well to balance the smoky flavors. Although the sweetness wins out overall it remains fairly balanced.
The body and carbonation remind you that this is indeed a lager, the smokiness of the malts never overpowers and it has a really nice length and the carb keeps it light on the tongue. The spruce/piney hops coat the tongue as well in the finish.
It may not be the classic style but it sure is good to me. Im really enjoying this one. A great beer for after dinner by the fire or outside when its nippy yet I still see this as a nice little thirst quencher. @TongoRad

    Happy New American IPA Sunday!

Pretty nice day here on the Western Slope, got an invite from a new friend to do a bike ride today. Sunny, windy, around 66. Have a tasty brew from a new brewery in town, they've been open around 2 weeks or so. Picked up some Mongolian Chicken on the way home.

Two new to me beers this evening, first up was Founders Unraveled IPA. Okay, not my thing really and outside of being handed one not something I can see me reaching for.

Yards Philthy Unfiltered Hazy IPA - strange beer but decent, has an orange/lemon/lime/a little minty thing going on and it does have a slight bite to it to keep it from being too sweet; it's definitely complex. I would drink this again but overall an odd beer for sure.

OK Friends. Hello Not-Quite Late Night NBS
And NBS BIF #11 reveal day. I was the recipient of a most generous, well thought out, and epic assault from our very own @larryi86 so I'm sipping this fine Pilsener style right now, but I'll also follow up with some serious BIF BOMB ****.:sunglasses:

    Trendler Pilsener from Tired Hands
Pours a slightly opaque golden straw color. Fluffy white head jumps 2 fingers high, retreats to a patchy cap that leaves a pretty solid ring. Decent lacing.
Aroma of slightly peppery grass, apple, and a melange of lemon and crackery malt that hints at lemon meringue crust.
Flavor: grain, pepper, lemon zest, grass, and back to cracker and a smooth drying hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel is crisp, light, and actively carbonated.
    Overall, a solid pils.

Alright, I'm diverting from the MO box for my second NBS beer today, because I was in the mood for a saison. Fair Isle is a fair-ly new brewery out in Ballard (where they've joined about a dozen other extant breweries to form something of a brewery district), that has connections to Jester King and, as best as I can tell, focuses primarily on the style represented tonight... that being saisons and the like.

Bobbi is a saison brewed with Loral, Citra, and Mosaic, and it ultimately delivers on exactly what it promises. But first things first.
Pour is a pale yellow with orange-ish tints that would look more at home with the modern era of NEIPAs/NEAPAs than with the crisper classic saisons. It does however sport a gorgeous soft pillowy white head like egg whites but before they've been whipped enough to form those stiff peaks. But still whipped enough that they're frothy. Incredibly sticky, too, leaving curtains of lace along the glass as I sip.

Nose is initially estery sweet, but gives way to citrus and a lot of moderately restrained barnyard.
Flavour does not deviate from this blueprint. Tart yeasty saison character is buoyed by bittersweet citrus from the hops, and carries throughout to a long lingering finish. This is not the deepest most complex beer, but it executes what it sets out for very well.

    Cheers!

It's been a blast to participate in the NBS BIF share today. My wife might say I've had too good of a time. After sour stout and a hazy DIPA for some reason I thought I needed one more. When you're making bad decisions you might as well go all in, right? I took a look at what I had in the fridge and couldn't resist The Bruery's So Happens It's Tuesay with coffee. 16oz. of 14.7% BA imperial stout has never gone down so easy. This beer got better with every sip. The bourbon kept increasing, the coffee was still very prominent, and the underlying flavors of the stout were phenomenal. It all came together in matching glassware, also courtesy of @2beerdogs. This really should be my last of the night, really. It's been another fun week though. Cheers. :beers:

Look - Motor oil black that left the glass stained. One finger brown head on first pour.
Smell - Bourbon, coffee, roast, chocolate.
Taste - The bourbon flavor increased exponentially as I savored this beer. Bitter coffee was very pronounced on the finish despite being a year and a half since canning. The stout had underlying notes of dark roasted malt and chocolate. I was shocked at how easy it was to drink.
Feel - It felt slick to me, but still coated the palate. Nicely carbonated with a full mouthfeel.
Overall - It took me a few sips to adjust, but after that I was fully engrossed with So Happens It's Tuesday - Coffee. It's always a delight to find that the last few sips of a beer are even more delicious than the first. This is instantly among the best BBA coffee stouts I've ever had.
