Clear light golden amber, nicely carbonated body. The color is somewhat darker than the others I’ve had in this tasting so far. Tall white thick head with excellent retention and a wall of lacing following the head down. Spotty lacing on the glass as I consume the beer.

The smell has notes of fruit and bread, with the fruit tending toward grape, in the direction of white wine, but not quite. Also getting some apricot.

The taste is very much white grape, apricot, and bready malts. No bittering until the very end of the aftertaste, and then only a little. The initial flavors of white grape, apricot, and bread maintain through the middle to the finish, with the finish being dry. Despite having a decent variety of taste elements, the totality of the flavor seems wanting. IOW, the sum is less than the parts. No flaws; it just seems to be lacking something.

The mouth feel is smooth but flat with a thin body. (Perhaps that flatness contributes to the impression of the flavor as well.)

Overall, a good Kölsch. Faithful to the style guidelines with no noticeable attempt to “Americanize” it. Well brewed with no detectible flaws. However, the overall impression is a disappointment.

Picked up this Beer'd experimental at the brewery Thursday, wish I looked at the can date (when will I ever learn). This one features Centennial and Simcoe. It clocks in at 6%.
Poured from a 16oz can dated 05/20/22 to a Nonic glass at fridge temp.
There is a translucent apricot body sitting below a generous 2-inch white head. Lacing is medium, almost a full bubble coat on every glass tilt.
The aroma is subtle. Dankness with mild generic fruit.
Taste seems like a west/east IPA battle. The bitterness dominates, but there are citrus flavors in the background.
The mouthfeel is medium with a slight oily feel.
I’m on the fence with this one. Wish I could have tried a fresher one, but I think that ship has sailed.

Ferrous Falcon/Parish Ghost Hawk DIPA (Citra, Motueka, Sabro Incognito, Vic Secret). This is my first beer from Ferrous Falcon, which I believe is a side project of Horus and Mason Ale Works that makes IPA's in collaboration with other breweries. I've seen them on shelves before, but the high price always drove me away. Figured I'd give a single can a shot because it sounds like an interesting concept and it will be the closest thing to a Parish beer I can get around here.

Pours a hazy, glowing gold color with over 2 fingers of a soapy off-white head that dissipates somewhat slowly. 4

Aroma is quite tropical, with the Sabro being the likely culprit. Pineapple gummis, coconut, ripe mango, lychee, tangerine, orange pith, floral, white peach. All fruit, no green qualities like pine or earthiness. Smells like a fruit salad. 4

Taste has some qualities of the aroma, but goes in a different direction. Not nearly as sweet as expected. Ripe pineapple and mango, slight lime, white peach, ruby red grapefruit, grapefruit pith, floral, coconut, cedar, earthy pine. The finish dries out nicely, as well as bringing a firm bitterness in the form of earthiness, pine, and cedar. Residual sweetness lies underneath the bitterness in the form of ripe pineapple and coconut. 4.25

Medium body. Slightly soft and silky, slick, chalky, slightly sticky. 3.75

This is a solid NEDIPA, but I had higher hopes for this one given it's a collab with Parish. Not one I'd get again, especially for the price. That being said, it's an enjoyable beer, especially if you don't mind the strong character of Sabro. 4
    Overall: 4.08

A new beer from Russian River courtesy of @JayORear
    Tempo Change Hazy IPA
Pours a hazy but not turbid golden yellow with a white sea foamy head that has good retention leaving spotty lacing.
Aroma is a bit muted but Im getting candied lemon and orange, and some earthy/grain and floral notes.
Lots of citrus in the taste with that classic pine and grapefruit bitterness but presented in a lighter pilsner malt base.
Medium bodied easy drinking with nice prickly carb throughout. Finishes dry and bitter.
Nice beer from RR. They dont call it a NEIPA for a reason. It has alot of the qualities Ive experienced from RR its just hazy. The nose was a little week but other than that good beer.
    Thanks for the opportunity Jay![IMG]

Poured from a 16oz can stamped ALEXANDER SUPERTRAMP APPROVED 02/22/22 to a Nonic glass at fridge temp.
Pours almost black with a small tan head. Lacing is minimal.
The aroma is sweet malty with an ash note.
Taste is sweet in the front with a medium dry finish. Notes of chocolate and dried cherries but ash dominates (in a good way).
The mouthfeel is medium with a slight oily feel.
Overall, pretty good but I would like it less sweet.

Next a "Hidden Gem" - says that on the can but not much else. No ABV and the cans are weird because the label is like separate stickers. Not sure how they did this. I any case the marketing is great making you think this is a whale. I just noticed it and never heard of Origin Beer Project which judging by the address was right near Revival when I was the Chef there.
Pours a dark hazy orange with a nice white head leaving lots of sticky lacing.
Blueberry, pineapple, peach, passionfruit and lemon on the nose.
Taste follows with dark berry, tropicalfensives and some sweet overripe fruit- almost saccharine like. At this point Im not finding that offensive at all. Alcohol peaks in apparently 10%.
Soft and fruity in the mouth with a slick green bitterness on the finish. Hop oils linger. Pretty good (D) TIPA.
Interesting to say the least with the label. Cheers!

Good Sunday afternoon, New Beer Samplers and commentators. Magnify Brewing's best known beer is probably Maine Event, a NEIPA. The original version is hopped with Citra and Simcoe and has a moderate ABV of 6.5% Mag has also made a DIPA version, Imperial Maine Event, and a 10% Triple Maine Event. Now, the progression continues with Event of the Year, a 12% Quadruple IPA. This one is made with Citra and Mosaic incognito in the boil and multiple dry hopped with Citra, Simcoe and Mosaic Cryo. I think Magnify has reached the point of diminishing returns; as the gravity has increased, my ratings have decreased.

Canned on 7/12/2022. It pours a dense, opaque, muddy orange color with a huge cap of creamy, eggnog-colored foam and thick lacing. Its nose features ripe cantaloupe, lemon, grapefruit, a rich base of malt, and soft floral hops. The taste offers sweet, ripe melon and tangerine, along with tart lemon and grapefruit rind, and a touch of pine. Dry hopping with Simcoe adds an earthy, somewhat herbal, bitterness throughout. But the sweetness dominates and gives it a slightly medicinal character. The mouth feel is very thick - almost syrupy - but the carbonation level is appropriate and it's not very boozy considering its 12% ABV. Overall, I view Event of the Year as a bit of a novelty. I prefer the original Maine Event and the DDH variant.

Clear, soft gold colored body; lots of lively carbonation; decent head, one-finger thick, white and sudsy; small patches of foam stick to the glass. Very mild aroma; a bit of cracker; some light, fruity esters. Light malt taste with a moderate hop bitterness; some grassy herbal tones; a bit vinous. Medium body; smooth and silky on the palate.

I like this beer although it lacks the wheat / cracker-like malt flavors that I prefer in this style. The smell is a bit weak, too. I really like the lager-like smoothness of the mouthfeel. If the aroma were more pronounced, I could see this beer getting an overall '4' score.

Looks like my morning glass of Dole's Orange/Peach/Mango juice that I have every day, biggest difference is my juice doesn't get a head, this doesn't get much of one. Snot machine gets a bit of stone fruit, melon, the "buds" get than maybe a bit of pine. Medium bodied, not a whole lotta carbonation here.

Straw hued body, crystal clear; fantastic carbonation; 1 1/2 finger thick head, semi-creamy; patchy flecks of foam cling to the glass. Light bread crust aroma. Light, bready taste, a bit of cracker and biscuit; light to moderate hop bitterness; very, very subtle fruitiness. Light to medium body; crisp and semi-smooth on the palate; light overall dryness to the mouthfeel.

Another decent take on the kölsch style of beer. The taste and smell are rather subdued for the style but still there. The mouthfeel is sublime - softly textured with a light velvet feel. Light and refreshing.

On a roll....how about another. Really enjoying this day after my 12 hour meltdown yesterday..
Bodega Cats DIPA. Tripping Animals/Grimm Collab.
    HBS 638, Strata and Mosaic
Pours a very hazy yellow with a short lived head that settles to a thin ring with spotty lacing.
Aroma of pineapple, passionfruit and mango, sweet tangerine, herbs and lemon.
Taste follows with tropicals and tangy sour citrus, grapefruit juice and bitter rind. Not sweet at all which I wasnt expecting but I like.
Mildly carbonated throughout. Pretty balanced and finishing with a drying hoppiness. No alcohol detected. Feel is medium. I do enjoy Strata hops and of course Mosaic as well. Dont know anything about the experimental hop.
Its a good beer, actually better than just good but my palate has reached its rating limits in hazy IPAs for the day. I mean I might have another but analysis is over for the day...I think.
Really good beer and I would pick it up if you see it. Cheers![IMG]

Bottle poured in a Pilsener glass clear yellow liquid with numerous active carbonation streams . Produces a frothy two finger white head , settles to a thick layer , clinging lacings , looks good

    Aroma is adjuncts and malt

    Taste is water flavored beer

Light mouthfeel , I can see how these get guzzled

What starts off looking pleasing and appealing quickly subsides when you taste it. There just isn’t much, if any, taste. I know they produce a light version of this , wow! Trying to figure out what entitles them to use “extra” on the label. Extra poor tasting ?

Taste follows cantaloupe, passionfruit, white grapes, and apricot extremely balanced. 4.5

Pours an effervescent & hazed gold. Slightly below average head retention & lacing

    S: Green melon, pine, grapefruit

T: Green melon, passion fruit, papaya, & oranges up front. Dryness, oranges, green melon & passion fruit as this warms. Finishes with oranges, grapefruit & passion fruit, plus dryness

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, good balance

Solid offering, one I would consider adding to the rotation if available locally

I had three beers I hadn’t reviewed before the past two days, and all three were excellent. Drekker’s Oregon Braaaains (however they spell it) was a great example of a fruited kettle sour, and the five year old Fremont Barrel Aged Dark Star with coffee was maybe the best beer I’ve had this year. But I’ll just focus on what I’m drinking now, Transient’s collab with Beer Cellar’s Elijah Craig Barrel Aged Neckbeard Nectar.

I love Transient’s stout program. The “Uckley” series is excellent, but the Neckbeard series is pretty damn good too. The appearance on this one is cool, as it lightens around the edges. On the nose, there is a strong presence of bourbon barrel over thick roasted malt, with notes of chocolate and coffee as well. The barrel asserts itself on the taste even more, with a hot boozy character that, while strong, still meshes well with the dark roasted maltiness. There’s a big bold body, but a clean finish without a hint of oiliness or a syrupy sludgy feel. Very tasty, and a strong sipper. Well done.

I’m one of those reviewers who skews the bell curve to the right, I admit it: 4.75/4.5/4.75/4.5/4.75, 4.67 rating.

Reissdorf Kölsch is an easy drinking 4.8% summer beer.

The body pours a clear gold-yellow with a nice fluffy head which quickly diminishes. Minor lacing throughout the tasting.

Nose is a pleasant, light bready sweet malty mix. Very nice.

The taste follows nose but adds a brief hoppiness with a light bitterness and slight fruity, grape flavor. The pairing is quite nice. The finish pulls the flavor into a crisp finish.

Mouthfeel is solid with medium carbonation.

Overall a very enjoyable beer for warm summer days. Cheers!

Received from @colts9016 in NBW BIF #15 and I think it is the last non BA monster he sent me.
Poured black, as dark should be. Dark Star sounds like a dead star and while it’s not shining anymore, it’s not black.
The aroma was for my damaged nose, mild, but I did get roasted malts.
The taste, well, I drank this while eating tacos and for a while the chocolate flavors and oatmeal smoothness reigned and then it changed to coffee and bitterness. The way roasted malts sometimes get bitter. Not unpleasant, just different and I was curious which was the more accurate flavors.
The feel was good, just enough body to drink it in sips.
    Quite good, thanks Jammin!
