Glad you enjoyed. I just had one for the first time and it immediately became my favorite pils.

Their lagers are extremely impressive and have the edge on quality compared to most lagers I enjoy. I’m still saying Prima Pils is my favorite only because of the price and ease to find compared to quality, it’s hard to beat a nice pils for $16/12-pack.

Not for nothing, but what damage does she think you might do to it? I'm guessing her concerns may be justified, but I'm having trouble imagining it

Hazy peach body topped with a rolling, sculpted white head. Dank and pithy smell; orange and stale citrus pith; mango; earthy grain scents. Juicy, citrus-like flavors; tangerine and nectarine; tangy and bitter; mild evidence of toasted cereal grains. Heavy and smooth body; full mouthfeel; boozy heat.

A decent little hazy IPA, thick and juicy with some interesting tang and alcohol presence in it to liven things up a bit.

A much quieter day as far as doing house chores and fulfilling social obligations. The big thing was an annual neighborhood ice cream social. I usually don't eat ice cream anymore but had some this afternoon. Rocket the Wonder Dog also had his share. We were both well-behaved (which greatly pleased Mrs. BeerGoot).

So now it's time to crack open my first beer of the day and then fire up the grill for a locally cut slab of rib eye that I started marinating after returning home from the social. Watching some westerns on TV at the moment to while away the time as the grill heats (first, the original 'High Noon', now a sequel - which I didn't know existed - and really doesn't stand up to the Gary Cooper classic).

Hmmm... I've been to Omaha a few times and definitely had what I was sure was their flagship darker beer, but didn't think it involved vanilla. I didn't rate or review the beer I had (was with extended family and enjoying it on their dime), but looking at the offerings, I'm guessing the beer you reviewed is it.

With that backstory, and assuming it's the same beer, I agree with your overall assessment - it was a decent, tasty beer in the not-too-often seen regular [strength] stout category.

A slow pour from a 16-oz. can produced a finger of rich creamy beige foam that becomes rocky as it slowly sinks, thick rings of lace remain. Opaque chestnut brown color.

Bready malt greets the nose, toast and fresh baked dark bread with a hint of roasted character. Hops are mild, floral and fresh. A hint of baked stone fruits and raisin in the background.

The taste is neutral on sweetness with mild bitterness at first, toasted roasted malt moderated the sweet flavor and add dryness. Items from the smell are bigger with toasted dark bread in front. A hint of coffee and chocolate syrup arrive late. The finish is drawn out a bit, builds to semi-dry with above average bitterness with faint roasted malt lingering on.

Medium bodied with plentiful, lasting carbonation. Alcohol is very well hidden, balanced and easy going down.
A welcomed Fall release, true to style with a goodly amount of different malt tastes.

    Canned On 9/16/20

Well, lose it, of course!

And, yes, she is "justified", since everything that gets lost in our house is my fault (whether it is or not).

If you question this, then I wonder... are you married? :sunglasses:

Good heavens no! Not any more

That said, I know no one really reads my posts, but "the GF" I mention from time to time is not married to me and my only relationship.

Joking aside (sorta), that is basically the answer I expected. Cheers to an extra thermometer in your household :grinning:

OK, predictably, I lied: one more.

    Hubbard's Cave Fresh IIPA V16
    8.5% ABV

Listed as a NE-style IPA, this really comes across as a hazy WC IPA for my palate. Bitterness is noticeable; it's not exceptionally soft on the palate; hop tones are a blend of dank, herbal, tropical, and citrus.

It's really good; there's not a thing this beer doesn't do well. There's nothing that particularly stands out, either, but being at least good in all areas means you're pretty great overall.

    Beer #2
Walk in the Sun DDH. Strata, Citra, Mandarina Bavaria
Pours a hazy Orange/Gold with a decent head and tons of lacing.
Aroma is crushed pineapple, tangerine, orange, melon, white grape.
Taste follows with sweet tangerine and orange, pineapple, lemon, and some subtle strawberry.
Feel is medium, fluffy, drying finish.
Starts with a little sweet earthiness and rounds out with a pleasant bitterness. Another good one. Dig the hop blend. Cheers.[IMG]

Bright and clear honey-amber colored body; thick and creamy white head. Sweet and fruity aroma; raisins and peach; a touch of honey. Fairly sweet taste, peach; mild hop bitterness. Medium body; glassy; some dryness emerges near the finish.

The beer looks and smells fantastic, tastes and feels rather mundane. And I guess a dark lager means, in this case, a deep amber color. An okay beer overall.
    --------
Today has been a good day overall. Great early Fall colors on the morning walk (part of it spent with other neighbors and their dogs). Westerns on TV and sudoku puzzles. A decent neighborhood ice cream social, and now a fine grilled rib eye supper in a few minutes.

And these new beers. Some good, some so-so, but it's still all good beer...

@jvgoor3786 They either took your feed back or dialed in this East Sixth Brewing Co.'s East Sixth Haze, 6.3% ABV; 4.45 overall

Pours a hazed amber with a thumb+ of eggshell colored head. Great lacing & head retention

    S: Mangoes and strawberries

T: Follows the nose, also getting guava and peaches, plus a little dryness up front. More mango, dryness, a little peach & strawberry as this warms, along with a little green melon. Finishes with mango, oranges, limes and a little vanilla

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, lovely balance

Super drinkablity, thought this hit all the right notes

I'm glad my review wasn't too far off. I agree it's not a typical milk stout but it's an enjoyable stout nonetheless. I should try it again soon. Cheers!

My last beer of the weekend is this great wild beer from @Ozzylizard. Troegs Wild Elf 2017, a ‘Pennsylvania wild ale brewed with cherries and honey.’

Cork comes off with a small but noticeable pop. Pours a deep medium red with bright bubbles and a minimal head that dissipates quickly.

The nose is all cherry. Fresh, fragrant cherry. There is a welcome barn-y funk in the background.

This pops with cherry on the tongue. The wild funky notes are present and round out the sip nicely. The tartness is gentle.

This has the body you’d expect of the style, lighter, with a generous effervescence.

I haven’t had anything from Troegs in a long while. We don’t get it up here. I’ve always liked what I’ve had and was excited to get this one. This is the kind of wild beer I appreciate most; lots of bright authentic fruit flavour with a little funk and gentle tartness.

This is a great first foray into my NBW BIF box and I can’t wait to get to the next one.

One more to finish the night, I thought I was going to be crying into this but the Eagles are still winning this game. Absolutely loving this Modern Times Chaos Grid LoL Edition, thanks @Dimidiata! This is a 13.2% Imperial Stout aged In bourbon barrels with cocoa, peanuts, almonds and vanilla. On top of the great beer I have to give Modern Times a shout out for reminding people that Black Live Matter!

    Thank you Dimidiata for this
12 oz can, dated 9/21/20, poured into a tulip

A- Black with a small mocha head.

S- Chocolate, salted peanuts, almonds, hints of vanilla and bourbon. Nuts shine it this, reminds me a little more of sundae than a Reese’s cup.

T- Chocolate, salted peanuts, almonds, some vanilla, bourbon, some oak, hints of caramel.

    M- Smooth, full body.

O- Wow, this might be a dessert/pastry stout but the salted peanuts and almonds add a great balance to the sweetness. One of the easiest to drink pastry stout I’ve tried.

Finally getting some time to review one of the beers @Pinz412 sent for NBS BIF. Watching Holmes on Netflix while I review it. This has no reviews and one rating. Also, whoever entered this called it a NEIPA. That's not even close. I submitted an edit.

    Cinderlands Beer Co.
    Incredible Sky: 2020 Cascade
West coast style wet hop IPA

Pours a chrystal clear straw/apple juice color with a soapy white head and sticky lacing.

The smell is floral, earthy, with a small amount of pine and citrus.

The taste is floral and grass with a very bitter, earthy finish. This is serious West coast flavor.

The mouthfeel is a bit thin and seems slightly under carbonated.

Overall, this is a nice change in a sea of hazy, east coast beers. Although the mouthfeel misses the mark for me, the flavor will satisfy any desire for a west coast beer.
