My new beer for today started as a mystery beer from @DIM. My review below is from tasting it without knowing what it was. I know now! Kane Picture in Reverse Scotch Double Barrel Aged Old Ale. Aged for 27 months in Willett bourbon barrels and finished in non-peated Scotch casks.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours dark brown with very little head. The nose is delightful. Big toffee and bourbon. Smells like an English barleywine to me. Also getting vanilla, sherry, brown sugar, and oak. Figs, plums, raisins. Just keeps me wanting to take another sniff.

The taste follows the nose. Incredible. Boozy. I'm guessing this is up near 13 or 14% ABV (maybe even higher). Big bourbon comes through. Toffee, prunes, figs, brown sugar, slight bitterness (oaky?), a touch of maple, and brandy. Definitely think this is a big bourbon barrel-aged barleywine! How boozy this tastes, I'm guessing some extended aging in barrels.

The mouthfeel is absolutely stunning here. It's silky smooth and super viscous. Not syrupy, but just perfect. Magical.

NW Peaks and Logan Brewing worked together to make this rice lager, Hibagon's Elixir, which I picked up after Zwanze festivities yesterday.

32oz crowler served in a footed pilsner glass. Got it filled at the brewery yesterday.

Pours a grayish yellow color with a small coarse head and poor retention. Lots of carbonation. Smell is mild, a little bit of grass, a little bit of grain, a little bit of honey sweetness.

Taste is moderate sweetness, a little bit of a dirty dishwater hint (possibly the grayish color speaking to my hindbrain), a little bit of graininess, a little bit of a grassy bitterness at the end.

Mouthfeel is pretty still, very light. Overall...it's not a bad beer, but it's not that great...and it's ugly.

Interesting. So they are obfuscating where this beer is being produced.

Notch has two breweries: Salem and Brighton.

Burlington means this beer was brewed by Zero Gravity which is indeed located in Burlington, VT.

    Cheers!

Roughtail Mech Jucifer Milkshake IPA, 8.25% ABV; 4.08 overall

Pours a very hazed gold with 3 fingers of pearl colored head. Near zero head retention & lacing

    S: Vanilla, guava, peaches

T: Oranges, vanilla, limes, pineapple & passion fruit upfront, a little dryness as well. Blood Orange starts to show as this warms, vanilla, passion fruit, plus more pineapple. Finishes a little dry, with blood orange, a little vanilla & some lime & pineapple

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, pretty good balance

Hopped with Lotus, Citrus, & Amarillo, also contains Blood Orange & Amarillo. Great nose, pretty good flavor; super drinkability
