Boulevard Brewers Choice Chocolate Dipped Cherry BA Imp Stout, 15.1% ABV; 3.84 overall

Pours an effervescent mahogany with rapidly falling mocha colored head, now you see it, now you don't. Viscous as all get out, zero head retention & lacing

S: Dark fruit, woody notes. Figs & boozeyness as it warms

T: Dark cherry, cola notes, molasses, dryness & a little booze burn up front. Dark Chocolate, leafy hops, some barrel rawness & dryness, some cola notes as this beer warms. Finishes with boozey cherries, some chocolate notes & oaky dryness

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, warming

Tastes like boozey chocolate covered cherries, but doesn't quite gel enough more to recommend it. Drinks pretty good for its considerable heft

Soft, lightly cloudy, pale yellow body; thin, white head. Cracker in the nose with mild, fruity esters. Light, non-descript malt base taste; light hop bitterness; light spiciness. Medium body with a soft coarseness.

A fair beer but rather uninspiring.

...from yesterday early afternoon...we tried visiting a relatively new brew pub just a couple of doors down, but, although not busy, service was slow and they weren't serving brunch menu only had a burger for a lunch sandwich, so we opted for a BBQ place we hadn't frequented in ages...Pliny the Elder and Lawson's 'Sip of Sunshine' were also on tap...Mrs. BeerGoot had a tasty Modern Times 'Ice'...I probably should have opted for the Crooked Stave 'Ghost World' - on tap, love it from the bottle or one of the other Denver area small breweries...

Another new beer this weekend (look at me!): Beer Geek Peanut Butter Shake.

Damn, this is really good. The peanut butter isn't over the top (thankfully). The coffee adds the perfect complement to the roastiness of the malt base; this is a bitter brew. Pairs quite well with breakfast. :grinning:

Throw Me The Idol - Brick & Feather Brewing - Imperial IPA - 8%

I do like IPAs, but they don't always like me. I'm hoping this one does like me. This one is quite delicious. So much orange, pineapple, and mango. Yummy. So happy I got the chance to try it.

This is a very juicy looking beer. Very murky and hazy. Looks like pineapple juice. The head is 3 finger, white, fluffy looking, and long lasting. There's some beautiful lacing on the glass.
Like the looks, it is also very juicy smelling. I get pineapple, mango, orange. These aromas are strong, and pleasing.
Lots of orange juce flavor here, with bits of pineapple and mango in it as well. There's a bit of bitterness that kicks in as well on the back.
The body does seem slightly light for the style and ABV, but not too much so.
This is a solid beer and a pleasure to try.

I'll be taking my time with this, and will also be burping hops for a while. See you all later today.

A [IMG] new one to Kettlehead Brewing extensive list NEDIPA 8% featuring Riwaka, Citra, and Nelson I introduce Phantasticality. Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass introduced this week. Pours a very attractive hazy yellow with a half finger sticky white head that leaves thin streaks of lace, with nice retention. 4.5

Aroma is cantaloupe, mandarin, buttery Chardonnay, papaya, and apricot very pleasant. 4.75

Taste follows cantaloupe, mandarin, papaya, buttery Chardonnay, and apricot very well balanced. 4.75

Mouthfeel is above average, soft gentle almost creamy carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 8% loaded with flavor but insanely easy going down. 4.75

Overall another really impressive NEDIPA from one of the best in the state at brewing the style. I highly recommend. 4.75 Cheers all.

First, awesome bottle opener, second that wording on the can reminds me of wet hot american summer. I will share a long bird story with you...

I'm not sure if anyone remembers the kid books from the 90s, they were called Animorphs, well there was a red tailed hawk character and since then I've always felt drawn to that bird. Now we live across the street from a church with a tall steeple with a cross on top, there is a red tailed hawk there almost daily since we moved in almost 10 years ago now. Early this summer I saw the one of the coolest nature things I've ever seen. Right over our busy main street, a red tailed hawk and bald eagle fighting right above me in the sky dive bombing and grabbing each other. Then another red tail came in out of nowhere and help fight off the eagle, mom and dad?? After the eagle started to give up the one left to guard their nest at the top of a tall eastern white pine.

Later in summer I routinely saw what I believe to be that baby red tail that mom and dad saved from being that bald eagle's lunch. Early to midsummer it was mostly white and fluffy then late summer it became the brown/white red tail we recognize. Winter (our dog) and I would routinely say hi to that bird all summer long as it watched us walk around its trees.

A bird story for a bird guy about a bird family of three for a newly formed human family of three, plus their dog  Cheers @kemoarps

[IMG] This one has enough wow factor that it will hopefully be flowing at my house warming party next Saturday.

Triple Agent 9.5% loaded with Citra, but Rakau and Eclipse as supporting hops. Pours a very attractive hazy yellow with a solid finger sticky white head that leaves a thin wall of lace, with amazing retention. 5

Aroma is ripe tangerine, guava, passionfruit, pineapple, a hint of peach, and apricot really sublime. 4.75

Taste follows tangerine, guava, passionfruit, pineapple, a little peach, and apricot has a pretty serious wow factor for me. 5

Mouthfeel is big, not sticky or dry, soft creamy carbonation, and at 9.5% huge flavor and way too easy going down. 5

Overall this one is pretty darn amazing for me. 4.75

Evil Twin Rum Barrel-Aged 120 Days Dry Aged Stout (with toasted coconut, coconut, cacao, and cinnamon - a quatro of Cs, cuttin' it up!)

This is marvelous. It's massive (17.5% ABV!), and the nose is super potent. The liqueur isn't even identifiable necessarily as rum from the aroma, but you can tell it was aged on something.

On the palate, the additives and the barrel aging work together exactly as you would want them to - but in beers like this, so rarely actually do. Cinnamon accents the boozy sting; chocolate coats everything; coconut springs out of nowhere mid-sip, adding its own character right as the rum crescendos toward its peak.

I wasn't expecting to like this that much. I am not disappointed to be surprised. :grinning:

Our son had a LOT of the Animorphs books.

And Power Ranger videos. Like stacks of them. I got the privilege of taking him to see "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie."

That was NOT an Oscar-worthy movie.

A darker gloomier morning...this morning we went up to our sons school to take care of the entrance garden. Mrs. Phisher signed us up to take care of them and since one of our boys will be in that school for the next 8 years we thought it was a great idea; good family fun to start the day. Now I have a quiet house for a few hours which almost never happens so; did some cleaning, made lunch, now watching American Horror Story NYC and sipping on this weather appropriate beer, its rainy and gloomy.

Third Moon - Bestowed - Imperial Maple Each Beast a God (coffee maple bourbon barrel stout)

    Beer courtesy of @Coronaeus

Thick dark black looking pour, minimal to no visible carbonation. Minimal light brown brown ring forms around the glass.

Big fudge chocolate nose, oaky bourbon, woody , some coffee and touch of maple.

Taste is similar but I get much more of the woody bourbon note, there is a rich rich coffee flavor; chocolatey coffee. There is a lingering maple flavor in the background.

Big body that has some thickness to it, little bit of bitter roast on the finish, maple sweet sensation on the tongue. Minimal to no heat, very well hidden.

This is a really balanced and good sipping beer; it’s not overpowering. The maple and coffee balance each other out very nicely. Thank you for sharing this beer Peter. I will sip this one slowly and hopefully crack something open later tonight. I will also but in that Bas beer for next time I'm craving a stout Peter.

Four Seasons Of Mother Earth - Autumn 2021 - Old Fashioned Ale
    [IMG]
12.5% barrel aged old age by Mother Earth Brewing

A must try for fans of the Old Fashioned bourbon drink. Given that goal for the beer, it succeeds. It's a straight forward premise delivered well. At least as good as similar offerings by Founders and Bells.

The barrel is where it should be - front and center in nose and taste; a strong but sweet bourbon flavor. The body also has a sturdy malt base that also carries the notes of bitters, orange, figs, and cherry.

Mouthfeel is heavy as one might expect given the barrel and the beer being an old ale. Carbonation was a bit low perhaps due to a year in the bottle. Despite low carbonation, it felt good.

I guess the biggest issue would come from expecting this beer to taste like a beer. It doesn't, but as an old fashioned fan it still works for me.

I’m glad you are enjoying it. Third Moon opened up in early 2020, just as everything was locking down for COVID. They have quickly become one of the top rated breweries in the province and sell out of their pastry/dessert/breakfast stouts in minutes online when released. I’m not huge on the style myself, but like most of theirs because they tend to be balanced as you note, and the sweetness isn’t ever off-putting.

    Cheers!

He did, so much so that when "Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie" came out 2 years later, he insisted we see it.

That movie made the original look like a combination of "The Godfather," "Citizen Kane," and "The Shawshank Redemption."

A quiet weekend, catching up on my Honey Do list.
Daughter and grandkids coming over for dinner. I've been instructed to make seitan fried rice.
My new beer is Bavarian Lager from Good Life Brewing in Bend, OP.
A mostly clear yellow color with a quickly dissipating white head.
    Aroma of bread and flowers.
Taste of toasted bread, followed by hops.
    Light bitterness, drinks easily.
