Well this is certainly a first for me. I'm not as clever as @AzfromOz , but maybe one day!

New to me is Denver Beer Co - Peanut Butter Graham Cracker porter

I was a bit hesitant since I haven't found a good pb stout or porter I've liked yet.

    Canned 10.18.22

Pours a jet brown with no transparency and a very thin lingering head

Nose off the can is really nice and pb, as well as not overly sweet or savory. Tad of chocolate toward the end.Love the balance there.

Definitely pb forward, Graham cracker is present and noticeable, followed by some dark and malty/roasty notes at the end

Fairly effervescent, I daresay almost too bubbly, but I think it's offset by how good the aroma is.
Light and thinner body make for easy drinking.

Overall the strongest contender for a pb beer I've had so far. Aroma is a definite winner, flavor and drinkability pluses as well.

    Cheers!

From Now on German Pilsener by Three’s Brewing

Can purchased at half time beverages in Mamaroneck, New York. Great store!

Brewers notes: Floral Elegance, Meyer Lemon, Water Cracker, Soft Berry, Seamless

    BA style notes: German Pilsner

A classic German-style Pilsner is straw to pale in color with a malty sweetness that can be perceived in aroma and flavor. Perception of hop bitterness is medium to high. Noble-type hop aroma and flavor are moderate and quite obvious. Distinctly different from the Bohemian-style pilsner, this style is lighter in color and body and has a lower perceived hop bitterness.

Chilled and poured into a pretentious beer glass result into a clear golden liquid with numerous micro carbonation streams. A thick, fluffy big bubbled, gossamer bubbles, white, three finger foam cap . Good retention with sticky lacings.

The aroma is grassy, malts, bready , whiff of lemon

The taste is grassy, malty, biscuity, hint of lemon

Mouthful is clean, crisp, and sudsy

A good beer by a fine brewer

[IMG] Thanks for getting us started @NorsemanOne . Poured into a 20 oz tulip canned on 2/09/23. Pours a very hazy orange with a solid finger sticky white head that leaves big streaks of lace, with excellent retention. 4.75

Aroma tangerine, pineapple, papaya, and apricot, tangerine is clearly the lead. 4.25

Taste follows tangerine, papaya, pineapple, and apricot. 4.25

Mouthfeel is big, soft gentle carbonation, maybe a tad sticky but not dry, and at 10.5% huge flavor, but easy enough going down. 4.75

Overall this one is really nice. I will have 0 trouble getting through this 4 pack. Cheers all. 4.5

After a ringing endorsement of this beer from @GreenBayBA I had to give it a try:

    Central Waters Cassian Sunset
    [IMG]
    Appearance: Black, tight head.

Smell: Chocolate, then big barrel wood/vanilla.

Taste: The chocolate and barrel starts out strong, then big sweetened cinnamon note. Plenty of chocolate flavor throughout.

Overall: Tasty stuff, I'm not a big cinnamon fan but this had it in the right proportion. Not a lot of coffee to my taste buds. It did have some sludge—like undissolved cinnamon chunk or something?

    Picture of sludge:

Aroma is coffee, caramel, toffee, cocoa nibs, and vanilla bean. 4.25

Taste follows sweet roasty coffee, toffee, caramel, and vanilla. 4.25

Mouthfeel is a little above average, soft creamy carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 10% it drinks easy. 4

Overall this is good, but I really was hoping for even better. Still would say worth a shot for sure. 4.25

Today’s new imperial coffee stout - Double Cup Imperial Coffee Stout, by Common Roots Brewing Co., South Glens Falls, NY:

Canned 12/7/22. Poured at 56°. Black with ruby edges; dark brown head; brief cap retention leaves an island of micro dots and solid minus ring; some soapy lace, but mostly spots; medium legs on swirl. Roast coffee and chocolate nose. Bittersweet dark chocolate and coffee; sweet berries middle; nutty coffee backend; cacao finish. Medium body, silky feel; alcohol burn on tip of tongue; warmth from 14% abv; light carbonation. Overall, pleasant bitter roast malt linger; alcohol well hidden flavor-wise; drinks light for abv; boozy without tasting boozy; a solid imperial coffee stout.

I really like this little brewery. A solid coffee stout, I have one more and will drink soon as I don’t foresee the coffee holding up as long as some other brewer’s beers. Cheers!

I certainly have nothing bad to say about peanut butter stouts, I just know that my curiosity doesn't include trying one. And I love peanut butter.....Coffee is a different matter altogether. It's a natural.

3 Sheeps Brewing Deeply Rooted (2022). A BA barleywine. The color is black with a very slight red tint. There was a light brown foamy top that quickly disappeared. The smell is strong with vanilla and caramel. Dark fruit, barley, chocolate, leather, and bourbon sit in the back seat. The flavor leads with caramel, then brings forth spice, oak, vanilla, raisin, chocolate, and bourbon. The flavors are rich, and it has a pleasantly bitter finish. The mouthfeel is luciously creamy and thick. It is smooth, full, and soft, with medium carbonation. Overall, this is a delicious BA barleywine. I know the team at 3 Sheeps Brewing are big fans of barleywines. They will continue their exploration of this genre, and the results will be amazing.

Overall Sabro is one of the hops in this and it gives beer that coconut flavor and is not everyone’s cup of tea. I personally don’t hate or love it and I think this is slightly different and rather tasty. 4.25

    Goos Saturday morning!
Thanks to @NorsemanOne for getting us started.
My new beer for today is She's My Cherry Pie Lager from Tivoli Brewing Company. It measures in at 9.5% ABV.
A dark amber color with just the hint of a head. No lace.
Aroma of fruit and some hops.
Faint cherry taste, followed by some hop bitterness.
    Medium-bodied.
    Not much cherry.

    Barley Barge
    12.7% barleywine by Jackie O's

English style barleywine poured into a jelly jar and left to warm to room temperature. Neither head nor lacing in this dark bodied beer.

Wonderful aroma from the barrel, sweet bourbon and dark fruits.

Taste follows nose with an accentuation of the dark fruits flavor - plums, fig, raisins - adding a depth of flavor. Finish has a sweet honey, maple and caramel sweetness. The ABV is only hinted at in flavor.

Heavy mouthfeel is satisfying despite the absence of carbonation.

American barleywine fans steer clear. English fans belly up to the bar as this one's for you.

Good afternoon, Weekenders! I've slowed down my new beer reviewing, but fortunately @Whyteboar is here to help! :grinning:

First up: Dark of Night, an 11.53% ABV imperial stout aged for 10 months in rye whiskey barrels.

No coffee, no chocolate, no vanilla. This is a straight-up BA imperial stout, and it's excellent.

Minor char; excellent tasting notes of coffee, semi-sweet whiskey mash, toast, toffee, cherry, and a bit of chocolate. I don't get any spiciness from the rye. Incredibly smooth despite the huge ABV and the barrel treatment.

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22564/634285/?ba=Roguer#lists
    4.17 / -1.7% (2nd full review / 3 overall ratings)

Next up: Chromatic Shatter, a hazy IPA from Broad Leaf brewing.

Moderately dank and super juicy IPA. Unfortunately, while the hops shine, the modest ABV (6%) results in a thin body that can't quite support the hops. It drinks like a session IPA, honestly. The best hazy single IPAs manage to drink bigger than their potency; this one drinks smaller. It's very good, though. I have no idea what Talus hops are like in isolation, but it seems to go well with Citra and Mosaic here.

    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/57087/609529/?ba=Roguer#lists
    3.77 / -2.8% (1st full review / 3 overall ratings)

Thanks, Craig! More to come this weekend, I'm sure. Cheers!

I really liked that Odd Sides beer, had to share it. Glad you enjoyed it. Broadleaf is the "American" arm of Brewery Vivant and I have the feeling they are trying too hard, if that makes sense. I'm really looking forward to them coming into their own.

    Good morning NBW
I popped into a liquor store after grocery shopping this morning just to see if this one had hit town.
    3 Floyds Zombie Ice
19.2oz canned 2/15/23 (10 days ago!) poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 8.5% ABV per label. The beer pours bright medium amber with cream colored head. The head recedes to an uneven ring and rocky island leaving behind plenty of lacing. The aroma is strong with candied orange, tropical fruit and pine resin. The taste is semisweet caramel malt with dank, tropical fruit and sticky piney resin. Lesser notes of candied citrus come through later. Thoroughly bitter from start to finish. The mouthfeel is medium plus bodied with average carbonation and a semi dry finish. Sticky with hop oil and a bit of residual sugar, but perfectly balanced by the aggressive bitterness. Overall, excellent.

Good news is this beer was all I had hoped for. Bad news is my palate is ruined for a while...
Cheers all. I'll be back later when my tongue recovers.

I was at Southern Yankee's Crafthouse yesterday for some beers and fish & chips.

They had an Irish Red, Syd's Shillelagh, 5.2% ABV. Which I haven't had before, so sure might as well take some notes.

Pours a muddled reddish/brown color. A two finger white head forms with good retention and lace.
An almost nondescript and neutral aroma. Some base cereal like malts, thats about it.
Taste wise, bread, light toasted malts, cereal grains and sweetness. Just a touch of earthy bitterness lingers at the very end.
A medium body with moderate carbonation. Just kind of there. OK to drink. Something I don't have to think very much about.

Another American example of an Irish Red that just seems to fall a little flat (I'm no expert on the history of the style though). I don't have a lot to say about it, cause there is not a lot here. A fairly nondescript malty red ale. I guess not bad to drink, but Southern Yankee does a lot better.

Overall score is 3.24, C+ or B- range.
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/54216/475162/?ba=champ103#lists

Southern Yankee does a lot better, like their Who's Pale Pale Ale, and their excellent Fish & Chips.
