Rare early Sat calls for rare Sat NB.
Hop Butcher To Know is To Love DIPA.
Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, Amarillo and Nectaron Hops.
Pours a turbid orange gold with quite a lovely 3 finger head that has good retention. Alot of lacing as the beer recedes.
Big peach, passionfruit, cannabis, and upon opening the top some blueberry. Also a watermelon/strawberry jolly rancher thing.
Taste is bold fruits - mostly tropical but on the back you do get some of that white grape. Leans just a tad sweet but bitter grapefruit reels that in a bit.
Medium full body with soft feel and prickly carb. Easy drinker no alcohol detected but for a very mild warming in the back of the throat. The finish is quite dry and citrus rind/pine bitter.
Really nice beer. Not alot of Nelson popping through but that's a tough one to nail. Nice hop blend. Would buy this again but prob won't see alot from Hop Butcher in these parts.
    Cheers folks![IMG]

Greetings NBW friends. Only one from me today, but it’s a hefty one. I’m a big fan of Wax Wings, especially their hops, so I’m pretty pumped to try this.

Pours a turbid orange color with a lovely creamy white head that skates down the glass as you enjoy this NEDIPA. Gorgeous beer. The nose is filled with juicy peach and ripe tangerine notes, with a bit of mango and sweet oats. I’ve entered the drooling zone.

The taste is all about the interplay between the stone fruit of the peach and the dank citrus of the tangerine, with the mango and creamy oats providing balance that completely hides the 9.5% ABV heft of this beer.

The mouthfeel is substantial and creamy, fitting this beer like a glove. This is exceptionally well done by a brewery that is a hidden gem in Kalamazoo MI. World class, IMHO.

    Delirium red
    ..cloudy murky cranberry appearance.
...medium light carbonation, body has a slick feel that coats the mouth.
..aroma is cherry and elderberry juice and jam with some mild tart funk in the background. The more I look for it starts to come off candy like.
...taste is sweet cherry and elderberry syrup first with a mild sour, tart funk that takes over and lingers.
...overall its really good but gets real close to being cough syrup [IMG]

New England IPA with Mosaic, Citra, Sabro hops and chilis, from Spain (7.8%).

Pours a cloudy, pale golden amber amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and tropical, citrus hops, with vague notes of mango, papaya and grapefruit.

Taste is a decent balance of light biscuity, doughy malt and fruity, slightly herbal and dank hops, with faded tropical and citrus notes of mango, papaya, hints of coconut and grapefruit, as well as just a hint of mint, chili and herbal weed lingering in the aftertaste. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some mango, grapefruit and hints of mint and chili lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

Drinking its sister beer, it becomes even more obvious that Kage only remained palpable because the added mango made up for the washed-out hops and added haze and mouthfeel, all of which this is sorely lacking, while the added chilis don't come through quite as much as they should for my personal taste as well. Without the added mango providing that additional juicy character, it becomes even more obvious how faded and washed-out the hops are here at over 6 months old and the brewer fully deserves the bad rating for setting a 12-month BB-date in my opinion.

Sawyer Ridgetop Porter, 5.9% ABV. Pours black with a two-finger beige head that left a foamy cup of lacing. Nose is coffee, malt, and chocolate. Taste follows, no sweetness, slight bitterness. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent. Stouter than some stouts I've had.

I've been thinking I should to put together a go-to list of lower-ABV dark beers to have on hand, and this could be on it. They could easily call this a stout.

Switching back and forth between the USA - Venezuela WBC game and the Sixers - Pacers game. Nice top of the 1st for the USA!

Next up for my weekend drinking is an Irish creme flavored stout: 903 Brewers - Luck O' the Squatch

Pours a marbled brown color with a distinct swirl of lighter brown making its way through a darker brown liquid. In the end it settles on a muddled, cloudy, murky dirty brown color. Two finger frothy head forms on the beer but quickly dissipates leaving absolutely no residual foam. Aroma is extremely sweet - yes I know you technically cant smell sweet, but let me tell you, this beer smells like its going to give you diabetes. There is chocolate, Irish cream, a touch of coffee and some caramelized brown sugar.

The taste on this is really unexpected - given the over the top aroma, I was expecting a very sweet stout, and it is, but what stands out right away is how hopped and bitter the underlying stout is. There are notes of roasted malts, bitter pine and earthy hops, along with sweet notes of vanilla, irish cream, a touch of alcohol, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Feel is thinner bodied, brightly carbonated. Semi-dry finish.

Overall its a very mediocre stout. It seems like it's unsure if its an old school hoppy American stout or a sweet pastry stout. In the end its not a very good version of either.

Old Stove and Single Hill - Don't Let Me Down Frozen Fresh Hop IPA

16oz can served in a big snifter. Can is dated 03/08/23.

Pours a hazy/murky whitish amber with a fairly small head that is thick and coarse along the edges of the glass. Smell is floral hoppy with a hint of fresh green hops, moderate earthiness.

Taste is surprisingly earthy, a little bit of a fruity vibe without being very specific about what fruit. Tastes way boozier than it really is.

Mouthfeel is moderately thick. Overall, it's reasonably good.

Happy New Beer Weekend friends, yesterday I snagged this beer from my dad's fridge since I had never had it before. He said he really enjoyed it so I figured I'd give it a whirl despite its age. I have a special dad imported beer/long post for tomorrow, or next weekend. Drinking out of my game night glass thanks to my good friend @Coronaeus.

    Zywiec Beer (Pale Lager 5.6%)

    *unintentionally perfect shot

Great looking beer...great clarity vigorous lively bubbles form during the pour, golden in color, white head; not much retention or lacing...just a thin film remains.

Generic pale lager nose, comes off slightly sweet and doughy in nature; there is a little bit of herbal hops trying to pop through...not much else for this one.

Taste leans sweet and doughy, plain cereal; there is an added little tiny bit of toasted feel to the bread though, generic old world hops on the finish, nondescript but they're there.

Light leaning to medium body, smooth going down but sort of cloyingly slick, low to moderate bit of bitterness on the finish.

Not much to write home about on this one, I usually enjoy most beers but there is something too heavy or sweet about this lager for me to really enjoy it that much.

Looking forward to reading what else you are all drinking tonight and joining you again tomorrow. Happy Saturday Night!

Amber in color with a small amount of off-white colored head that stuck around forever. Plenty of floaters (I should have backed off the last ounce). Aroma is fairly muted. Acidic with some light funk. Taste has the same acidity and funk as the nose, but with subtle strawberries and a good amount of red wine barrel. It's the barrel that really adds to this, providing some unexpected depth. Light and lively. Really enjoying this one.

Fisher Brewing - Classic American Lager

16oz can poured into a weizen glass at fridge temp. No canning date.

Pours clean and clear golden with a thin head that fades away. 3.75

Spicy, earthy hop and malty aromas. Tinge of sweetness, but mostly spicy hops. 4

More earthy and spicy hops, a bit of toastiness/malts and strong herbals. Nice balance of the herbals and earthiness. 4.25

Crisp and crushable body, not too strong of carbo. 4

Overall this thing was gone much too quickly, which I see as a plus it's that drinkable and tasty. 4

Central Waters Brewing 5-Year-Aged Bourbon Barrel Barleywine. I purchased this beer for next week's NBW, but it stared so intently at me, I had to provide my immediate and full attention. The look is crimson brown, with a slight brown foamy ring on top. The smell is that of what I anticipate the first ale that is handed to me by my grandfathers upon my arrival in Valhalla will smell like. Toffee, vanilla, bourbon, brown bread, raisin, malt, cherry, and fig. The taste is simply incredible. A beautiful experience. The finest milk chocolate, premier raisins, premium bourbon, sweet brown sugar, ripe dates, fresh brown bread, and exquisite dark fruit. Amazing. The mouthfeel is smooth, soft, thick, and full, with medium carbonation. Overall, this may be a perfect BA barleywine.

Glad you enjoyed it! And according to my spreadsheet I have 10 bottles of this (of varying vintages), so I would assume you'd have a similar amount. It's consistently one of my favorite Sante beers. Hard to say no when I see it on the to-go list!
