Sixpoint Stooper Hazy IPA - It was a beautiful day today but unfortunately bad storms now with crazy hail in my area and tornadoes touched down south of us in Delaware. If this spring is any indication, summer is going to be very active across the country and for us it may be 2021 all over again (parts of the Philly metro are still recovering from those record breaking tornadoes that summer).

I'm picky with my IPAs these days due to so much trial and error but I do enjoy the hazy style and most are hits vs misses with me. I saw that this didn't have Mosaic in it so I am giving it a go. Pours from a can (BB June 29 or 23, hard to tell, '23) a hazy darker yellow with a thick head. Smell is inviting and there is a semisweet tropical candied fruit thing going on along with some yeast maybe. Taste is excellent, soft and light but flavorful and fruit forward and ends with the perfect amount of bitterness for my palate. The 6.4% is well-hidden and drinks lighter than that. I would definitely drink this one again and I'm a fan. Budmo!

Alvarium is great, especially if you like dogs as much as my wife. And they always seem to have a great food truck.

Marcheur Irlandais from Olde Hickory Brewing in North Carolina. A barleywine aged in Armagnac barrels. Comes in at 15% ABV. Compliments of @CarolinaCardinals

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a murky brown with little head. Definitely a reddish hint to the color. The nose is full of Armagnac. I love Armagnac, so I'm loving this. Also getting sweet candy, sight rhubarb with sugar, a semi-dank grape peel note, wet leather, and a hint of citrus.

The taste is super sweet, and definitely Armagnac heavy. The barrels have really taken over this beer! Almost a wine-beer hybrid at this point (and ABV). Some lemon, slight cough syrup (not unpleasant at all), oak, leather, sweet toffee, marmalade, and that bitter rhubarb is back. Really nice and complex. A very interesting barleywine!

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and dry. The aftertaste is Armagnac.

This is a special @FBarber 10th anniversary celebration review! Congratulations! I would have celebrated my 10-year wedding anniversary last fall, if I did not fall about 75 yards short of a marriage-saving field goal. Trillium Brewing Eliot Tower NEIIPA. Quite fresh. The look is patented Trillium Brewing gorgeous orange juice, with a beautiful 3-finger white foam. The smell is very fresh orange juice, mango, pineapple, and orange pushup. The flavor is orange, pineapple, peach, and apricot fruit juice, with orange dream popsicle. Very well-blended fruit juice. The mouthfeel is pillowy soft, juicy, light, and smooth, with lighter carbonation. Overall, this is another triumph from Trillium Brewing. It is exactly the experience I hoped for, and the one they have always delivered for me.

KBS Hazelnut growler into pint glass. Pours an oily black with a nice tan head. Initial impression is coffee, chocolate, and hazelnut. Alcohol (12%) is extraordinarily well hidden. Mouthfeel is smooth and fairly thick. Finish fades to mildly sweet chocolate. Overall, an excellent and enjoyable Imperial Stout.
Watching the Orioles blow a 6 run lead and lose the game thanks to an error on a routine fly ball to left field. Might need to have a couple more of these......

Good evening denizens of NBW and a big thanks to @AzfromOz for another excellent kickoff.

With so many people posting about this I had to give it a shot.
Poured transparent amber with a tall yellow head that dissipated slowly and left regular lacing.
The aroma was lost on my Covid damaged nose.
The taste was all Citra, with generic citrus flavors and gentle malt sweetness. The bitterness was good for the style, nice and straightforward IPA.
The feel was great, no quaffing problems at all.
Nice double IPA, but probably not a daily drinking beer.
    Cheers all!

Bourbon County 30th Anniversary Reserve Stout. Comes in at 14.4% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with a nice thin layer of dark brown head. The nose is fantastic, and definitely different from the regular bourbon county stout. Rich toffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, sourdough bread, and slight cream.

The taste is phenomenal. Here is where a bit of roasted malts come through. Mostly dark chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, and toffee. Lovely integration of the flavors. After a few sips I start to get raisins, figs, and plums. Not sweet, not bitter, just super smooth and easy to drink. Hard to believe this is almost 15% ABV.

Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Aftertaste is slightly roasted malts and toffee.

Should've posted here first, but I got carried away on wbaydn

Thanks again to @snaotheus for an excellent Pils

    Cloudburst - Happy Little Clouds

    Canned 3/2/23

Poured at fridge temp into a imperial nonic glass.

Pours a bright and shiny clear gold with a two finger tight white head. Lots of visible carbo rising for the whole time I was drinking jt. Left some loose white lacing on the glass. 4

Hoppy and sweet aroma. Hop spice starts to peek out as it warms up. 4

Hoppy, clean, fresh, some moderate but easy maltiness. Hops are smooth and balanced spice and sharpness, but not overbearing at all. 4.25

Mouthful of carbo, lingering hoppiness and quicky dry finish. 4

Overall an excellent pilsner that really knocked the hop notes out of the park. It was very difficult not to crush this one, but I'm glad I let it linger and warm up a touch. 4

Brouwerij De Moersleutel - Suska Sechlonska

Imperial Stout with smoked plums, from the Netherlands (12%).

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, creamy, dark-brown head. Smells of roasted, caramel malt and campfire smoke, as well as some chocolate and hints of plums and licorice.

Taste is an excellent balance of roasted, caramel malt, strong, dark, bitter chocolate and campfire smoke, as well as some dark fruit, with notes of raisin and plum and hints of tobacco and licorice. Finishes with a medium bitterness and sweetness, as well as some chocolate and smoked plums lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light/medium carbonation.

This makes for a very enjoyable Imperial Stout with an excellent balance of sweet, bitter, roasted, fruity and smokey notes, with the eponymous smoked plums coming through marvellously here. In fact, I'm surprised by just how smokey this is and kinda wonder if smoked malts were used here in addition to the plums. At the same time, the fruitiness of the plums does not come through as strongly, although it's certainly there. Additional notes of chocolate, licorice and tobacco fit in very well with the flavor profile here, with a great body and mouthfeel as well.

Bentonville Brewing MTB 479 IPA, 4.79% ABV; 3.68 overall

Pours bright, gold & effervescent with one finger of pearl colored head. Average head retention & good lacing

    S: Bready, some citrus

T: Follows the nose, some lime & green melon, plus dryness up front. Lime, dryness & a little bready sweetness as this beer warms up. Finishes with limes, breadyness, plus dryness

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, pretty good balance

Nice easy drinking IPA for a cause. I like my IPAs with a little more horsepower, but this would work on a hot day

This one is from @hopley Allagash From Main With Love #24, a Belgian-style Dark Ale, 5.7% ABV; 4.0 overall

Pours an effervescent chestnut with a pinky of tan head. Okay head retention & lacing

S: Some juicy fruit, pears, cocoa, fades a bit down the stretch

T: Follows the nose, very dry, with a mushroom meatyness to it up front, a touch of woody hops, plus some brown sugar. Picking up some coffee as this beer warms up, a little cocoa, more juicy fruit, some toffee & a general woody/dry flavor. Finishes dry with woody/mushroomy notes, plums & toffee sweetness

    MF: Medium body, slight carbonation

Rock solid take on the style, pretty complex for the ABV & style

Time for a new to me local via a crowler

    Strap Tank - Red Devil
    Irish red ale

    Canned on 3.31.23

Poured into a nonic at fridge temp

Pours ruddy almost dark copper with an eggshell tan head. Miller high life level visible bubbles rising the whole time. 4

Aroma is sweet with a touch of maltiness. Mostly candy like caramel with some bready malts. 4

Some buttery cracker follows the biscuit and caramel on the tongue, accompanied by some toffee and caramel that aren't overly sweet. Well balanced comes to mind but on the sweeter and tastier/treat side. 4

Effervescent but not necessarily biting which I found very pleasant. Light body and satisfying rounded mouthfeel. 4

Overall a nice Irish red that was easy drinking, not complex and just enjoyable. 4

A really nice DIPA, one of the better beers of this ilk I have had from TG in a long time, great drinkability

    Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4.25 – Smells distinctly like toasted malt. No yeast, no hops. No ethanol (5.8 % ABV as marked on can) aroma.
Flavor – 4.5 – Begins lightly sweet and malty. No hops, no yeast. No gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends with a light hop bitterness.
Palate – 4 – Medium; approaching creamy; soft but lively carbonation.
