If Julia is able to handle us reviewing beers and slamming to the finest extreme heavy metal, while only eating George Webb and food truck food for three long days, she is a special person. I have a lot of beers lined up for us. Less than two weeks to go!

Poured from a pint can, the body is a pale yellow that is mostly clear. Good initial head retreats to glass edge. Light lacing throughout the tasting.

Aroma of floral hop (that also is present in the taste) and wafts of malty goodness.

Taste is clean with a cracker malt flavor that's a wee bit sweet. Noble hops add a bit of a bite and that nicely balances things. Crisp finish.

Carbonation is medium giving the pale lager a good mouthfeel.

Very enjoyable lager that I look forward to sampling on draft.

Happy Mother’s Day, everyone. We’re in Phoenix, visiting our son, which makes Joy REALLY happy.

That is a positive outcome for this old beer nerd.

We’re heading out to dinner in a bit, so a little happy hour beforehand is in order. This is a new brewery and beer to me, and it’s local.

I really like that combo pack.

Pours a beautiful clear golden straw color with a creamy white head that provides a nice amount of lacing. The nose features very nice lemongrass and white bread aromas, on point for the style.

The lemongrass is the diva on the taste, loud and proud and upfront, but I am really digging that white bread taste in the background that provides the foundation for this crisp, clean kolsch.

I must give condolences to @tasterschoice62. Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Today must be difficult. This beer is a gift from @GrumpyGas. We had breakfast together in Sheboygan, WI. It was wonderful. We need to get together much more often. @ChicagoJ woke up today in the room next to me, and drove directly to this brewery. So here we go. Dark drown color with a thick light brown foam. The smell is brown bread, malt, molasses, light fruit, and slight cinnamon. Very pleasant. The taste is brown bread, coffee, caramel, almond, and brown sugar. The mouthfeel is full, clean, light, and soft, with medium carbonation. Overall, this is a wonderful beer for a Sunday night. Really nice.

Skydance Brewing Co. Juice Wolves Batch 007 Blood Orange Milkshake IPA, 7.0& ABV; 3.94 overall

Pours a very hazed amber with one finger of cream colored head. Average-ish head retention

S: Vanilla, oranges, fades as this warms

T: Follows the nose, green melon & papaya up front. Lactose sweetness, limes, oranges & a little dryness as this beer warms up, plus green melons. Finishes with vanilla, lactose sweetness & sweet oranges

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, nice balance. Carbonation gets a little prickly once warm
By no means perfect, but I certainly would buy again

Super drinkability, I like milkshake IPAs, so this was right in the wheelhouse

Glad to finally sit down and review a beer for NBW, it's been an interesting weekend since the family stayed the night out of town so I could take my wife to "Beer Prom."

Badlands - Bad Matter, a hazy IPA from Ontario.

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Doesn't have a date on it except the year, 2023. Got it in a "trade" with @Coronaeus that the Canadian government broke up.

Pours murky pale yellow with a huge frothy head. Really huge. Smell is powerful, blasting as soon as the can is cracked. Tropical juice and citrus pith and hop resin.

Taste is pretty close down the line of the smell, though it leans pretty far into overripe fruit as well.

Mouthfeel is fluffy, velvety. Overall, it's a good hazy IPA.

Dropping this one in as it is a new beer to me. I sent one to @russpowell as part of NBS BIF#17 and decided I wanted to try one tonight myself. Sorry @snaotheus your run of northwest beers from my reviews will have to take a quick pause.
This is Outer Light Brewing in Groton, CT and their 2022 vintage Barrel Aged Pitch and Roll Imp Stout. 8.8% ABV.

    onto my review:
Sampling a 2022 vintage of this beer in a cold 16 oz can. Aged in Basil Hayden Bourbon barrels.
Pouring the beer into my trusty snifter. I picked up the cans at the brewery about 6 weeks ago and they have been in my cellar since.
the beer pours a black coffee color and sits in my glass with no light passing through to give more hints of color. A very creamy tan head of about 1 cm foams up. The foams sits effortlessly on the surface of the glass and I get very dense lattice when I swirl the glass.
Aroma is big on whisky notes as that is dominant from the popping of the can. I also get some dark chocolate in the background too. Not really any hop character anywhere. not really boozy or fusol, overall the nose is on the mild side for a BBA stout.
First sip reveals a medium to thinner body with gentle carbonation. Texture is smooth and easy drinking, so the beer empties from my glass quickly.
Flavor is dark chocolate, some faint coffee and a big dose of bourbon. There is a bit of sweet vanilla here and definitely some charred wood, but bourbon booze carries the day. Not hot or any warming on the swallow, nor any hop competition on flavor notes.
This is a decent imperial stout that could use a little more umph! on the body. Im not sad to have another can in the cellar, but not overly excited either, if that makes sense.
    4.05 in the BA DB

    12oz can canned 2/13/23 into a willi becher 12oz.
L: Pours med yeast hazed apricot w a thin white head w low retention, low carbonation, very light sticky lacing.
S: Honey, light caramel malts, a hint of vanilla, lightly floral, a background sensation of buttered rum w warming.
T: Sharp tangerine, pine resin, grapefruit zest, lemon & zest, honey, wildflowers, a touch of yeast, sweet malts, a very lengthy and mildly intense resinous linger. Full flavored with evident bitterness.
F: Firm, slightly juicy med to med-heavy bodied w a semi-dense center and a moderately drying, sticky and long lasting finish.
O: Tight lil' sacs of intense fruit tastes are really what captivate my senses here. Aroma is very light compared to taste. This beer is beautiful and is mildly intense but not bracing. Full flavored, fruity and fairly quenching. It is outstanding in its style.

I am incredibly late to this weekend’s thread, but I am currently enjoying the hell out of Plan Bee’s Breakfast

I can’t remember exactly who, but somebody recommended this beer in a thread a few months back. When I see Plan Bee, I tend to briefly look but don’t buy due to the price, but given the recommendation I had to grab this one. Roasted blueberries, maple syrup, and coffee is a crazy bill of adjuncts in a Wild Ale. The maple/coffee aspects are more subdued than expected, though they do intensify as it warms. The berry and funk lead everything, with lots of roast, wood, and tobacco backing it up. The subtle sugary sweetness from the maple is a wonderful touch. This is also absurdly easy drinking for 10%, just downright refreshing. Man, am I glad I listened to the recommendation!

Poured stout black with a *very* short lived brown head.
The aroma was lost on my Covid affected nose.
The taste was bourbon forward with the stout playing second fiddle. The nuances were lost in the bourbon. Maybe chocolate and coffee, but hard to tell.
I suspect that aging this might have mellowed the bourbon somewhat.
The feel was appropriate for the style, though some carbonation might have been helpful.
OA, I enjoyed it but there are better BA stouts out there.

Thanks @sulldaddy for this Armada Brewing Night's Executioner RIS, 14.0% ABV; 3.95 overall

Pours pitch black with instantly vanishing tan head. No head retention or lacing

S: Much roastyness, dark fruits & chocolate once warm

T: Very roasty, dryness; Baker's Chocolate, some coffee notes, a little booze sting up front along with woody hops. Charred grain, chicory, & dryness as this beer warms up, just a little caramel on the edges. Finishes with smokeyness, dark chocolate, & chicory

MF: Medium body, very warming, near zero carbonation

An absolute Bruiser of a beer that grabs you by the collar from the first sip, took a while to work through. I feel like this monster would age great for years upon years

Greetings, fellow NBWers, and happy Mother's Day to all concerned.

From Wednesday until last night I was house and pet sitting for some friends up the hill. Today, with my installation back into my own digs, it was time for a new beer.

Today's New Beer comes courtesy of @russpowell, and is from Bentonville Brewing:

More of a juicy than hazy IPA, it reminds me quite a bit of Bodhizafa, something I hit on a pretty regular basis, except this has a little more of a tropical fruit sweetness to it. In any case, it's very tasty, and I could see myself draining quite a few glasses of it were it available at one of my local brewery haunts. Thanks, Russ!
