Interesting take on the style. Grassy, grainy, biscuit with lots of bitterness on the back.

Clear golden pour with a white head. Some carbonation rising in the glass. No lacing on the glass.
Very malty aroma. Grain, biscuit , somewhat grassy.
I get some lemon in the flavor. There's a good malt bill here. Some grassy malt. Grainy flavor. Lots of bitterness on the back.
Light body, but expected from the style.
    Interesting take on the style.

Now next from Roseau, MN at a hotel. Too bad we can't make it to Lake of the Woods Brewing in Warroad.

This was one of the beers I most looked forward to in the BA WC IPA box. I did a beercation about 6 years ago to San Diego, but did not make it to Pizza Port. This 6.8% beer has been brewed since 1992.

Poured from a 16oz can stamped “CANNED ON 05/22/23 CHEERS” to a Nonic at fridge temp.
This beer has a body that is not quite clear, but almost and it is bright, light-orange in color. An impressive thick puffy, white foam sits above. The head fades to a single layer in a few minutes but never goes away completely.
The aroma is a hoppy pine and hit my nose during the pour even outside on a mildly windy day.
Pine is predominant in the flavor but there is some malt balance and “clean” may apply overall. The bitterness is fun.
The mouthfeel is medium with hop oiliness present.
This is a great example of a West Coaster.

Poured from a twelve ounce can stamped 5-25-23. The body is as the name suggests a light gold. Fairly clear with a hint of haze. Lacing was light but present. The small initial head quickly faded.

Aroma was a light waft of wheat. Really, next to nothing.

Taste featured a very light biscuity malt with a balancing light hop. A bit of malt sweetness in the finish.

This lager is very light on flavor, heft and the delightful mouthfeel that my favorite lagers sport. Having said that nerdy drivel, it's a refreshing summer beer.

2nd 6.8% beer from the BA WC IPA box, Hello LA. I actually had to look at the thread to see what this beer is called because I can't make out the name in the can art.

Poured from a 16oz can stamped illegibly on a curve of the can. I can say the month is 5 and the year is 23. I used a Nonic glass and the can came right out of the beer fridge.
This beer has a clear gold/yellow body, but glass condensation fooled me. The head is not significant, but lacing is nice.
The aroma is piney and sweet but kind of subtle.
There is bitterness in the taste, but I think the mosaic hops are a little too prominent for me.
The mouthfeel is medium with hop oiliness present.
    Overall, this beer is okay.

Central Waters Brewing Passion for Pinneapple NEIPA. The color is like orange juice. It has a thick off-white foam covering. The smell is like pineapple and passionfruit juice. Very strong. Very pleasant. It explodes from the can. Perfect for a hot day like today. The flavor is slightly bitter pinneapple/orange juice. Not too sweet. Just right. Very refreshing. The mouthfeel is similar to fruit juice. It feels more like juice than beer. It is juicy, smooth, full, and light. Very refreshing. Overall, this beer was released at the perfect time of year. It is light and refreshing, but full of flavor, without being too sweet. I really like it.

Good Saturday afternoon, New Beer Weekenders. It's a lovely day along the South Jersey Shore and I'm popping a can of one of my purchases at Ludlam Island Brewing earlier today: DDH Water Guns and Rainbows. This is a bigger version of an existing DIPA that is single-hopped with Citra. I'll say initially that I'm a greater fan of Ludlam's Stouts than its IPAs. The original version of this ale is good but not especially memorable, While I like this version it doesn't wow me.

Reviewed one day after 2023 can release. Poured into a shaker glass. It pours an opaque, pastel tangerine with a half finger of fluffy, milk-white head and creamy lacing. On the nose there is lemon, grapefruit, onion, and fragrant floral hops. The taste opens dry and bitter with pale malt and oats. It's exclusively Citra-hopped with notes of sticky, dank tangerine and tropical fruits. It's a basic - but effective - DIPA. The mouth feel is creamy and viscous with appropriate carbonation, and the 7.5% ABV is noticeable but not distracting. Overall, the DDH version of Ludlam's Water Guns and Rainbows is easy-drinking and tasty DIPA. It's worth a try - especially when fresh.

The locals seem to really like this beer but in terms of Ludlam DIPAs The Big Dirty is much more interesting and enjoyable to me.

I didn't enter it into the system, but I would wager that there isn't an Italian Pilsner style here at BA.

Art History Brewing and Church Street Brewing St. George's Day German-style dunkel lager. Courtesy of @GrumpyGas. The look is beautiful crimson red. Quite spectacular. There is a slight white foam ring on top. The smell is sour dough bread, caramel, pretzel, and a slight fruitness, which creates a wonderful combination. The taste is brown bread, pretzel, caramel, a bit of cinnamon, and malty sweetness. It is delightful. Very different from beers I routinely drink. Superbly satisfying on a beautiful and warm summer day. The mouthfeel is light, smooth, and full, with light-medium carbonation. Overall, this is an excellent beer. I can't think of a better example of the style. Thank you so much, @GrumpyGas. @Victory_Sabre1973 and @Mdog, I have a very special beer @GrumpyGas gave me that I will bring next week.

    Jackie o brick kiln
...dark brown murky appearance with a cocoa colored head that held up for awhile.
...lighter carbonation with a body that came off slick, full, and a cross between a little oily and creamy.
...aroma is dark fruit, malt, wood, a little smoky.
...taste was definitely full of malt, dark fruit, boozy, bourbon, and plenty of wood.
...overall it was excellent but not just due to aroma and taste but how rich, full and deep those elements came off[IMG]

Pours a turbid pineapple color with luxurious, creamy white head that laces the glass nicely. This beer is so thick in appearance, it literally swallows light like a black hole.

The nose features lots of mango, pineapple, and a spicy note that approximates coriander, along with a sweet oat aroma. Very interesting.

The mango and pineapple are the dominant flavors, and they’re delicious, with a significant sweetness from the oats, and that coriander note presents as tart tangerine, especially as the beer warms, with a peppery note at the back of the palate. I did NOT see that coming.

The mouthfeel is surprisingly crisp for a Tree House hazy, but works really well. This is not the typical TH “juicy, fruity hazy.” It goes in unexpected directions that I really appreciate as a world class brewery flexing its substantial creative brewing muscles. Really glad I could try this.

Happy Father’s Day weekend do the dads out there, and Happy New Beer Weekend. This weekend is the last weekend of spring so the beer I’m drinking is fitting for the occasion, a Maibock. I’m not the biggest fan of this style but I figured I’d give it a shot considering the breweries involved.

    Eggenberg/Schilling Collaboration (Maibock 7.4%)

This beer has amazing clarity and great color, deep gold and crystal clear, head is white with above average retention, what sticks around are some clumpy white islands, some, but not much, lacing present.

Nose on this beer is quite lively in my opinion, slightly sweet smelling at first, big dose of hearty rich lightliest of toasty malt; outdoor, fresh air smelling; with “beer” smell I get from some of the bigger euro breweries.

The taste is bursting with rich just slightly toasty malts, very hearty and full; hops are definitely present they come off as a smorgasbord to me, grassy, somewhat spicy, there is this really unique almost minty like bite on the finish.

Medium, on the the higher end, body; creamy and smooth, incredibly dry finish, absolutely clean, nice medium bitterness on the finish; stops short of being too much and is balanced out well by the body and crisp bite. Usually I notice the abv in maibocks, I do here but it is very very subtle compared to others I’ve had. This beer would be dangerous if you didn’t know it was 7.4%, it doesn’t drink as such.

This is a cool beer, it is beautifully malty bright but also noticeably hoppy; the reason it works for me is those hops stop just short of overpowering the malt beauty of this beer. Well done collaboration.

We’re berried in berries, our strawberries have slowly fizzled out but our raspberries are in full swing now, NJ blueberry season has just begun too. Had a really special morning with our oldest, went out and foraged black raspberries early in the morning, it was a special time; a moment I am sure I will never forget, you know those times when everything is just right…it was special, part of our forage below: black from the wild and red from our yard…

I have a berry themed beer I’m hoping to get to tomorrow if I have the chance, seems to be the perfect time to drink it.

Yo, fellow beer dorks! (Is that really the best we can come up with?) :stuck_out_tongue:
Sipping on an imperial stout that I got in a trade with @Resistance88 -
    [IMG]
Batch #9 - with Trystero coffee.
Canned Jan/23 (couldn’t read the middle number)
Poured black, dark black with a brown active head that tried and failed to cover the whole surface.
The aroma was lost on my Covid damaged nose. Much sadness.
The taste came in stages: it started almost port barrel aged with that tannic taste accenting the stout.
The next stage was plums and red wine and dark chocolate, a really good flavor.
The final stage settled into coffee and dark chocolate with just a little plum.
The feel was every bit of an imperial stout, smooth and viscous and mouth coating, a good sipping beer.
OA, really enjoyed this, wish it were locally available.

Its Saturday, soccer season for my daughter officially ended this morning with an in-house scrimmage. She scored two goals, against the boys team. So pretty good way to wrap it up. Ive been wanting to get to the new brewery in my town and believe that @goodbyeohio is trying to check out this place too in Branford. Caius Farm Brewery and their Balbilla Kolsch is in cans right now, so I picked some up. This 4.9% brew is just in time for summer.

    onto my review:

Sampling a cold 16 oz can picked up at the brewery about 2 hours ago. No date stamp on the can or label.
Pouring the beer into my Gaffel .3L stange.
The beer pours a slightly hazy straw yellow color with a fluffy bleached white head of 3 cm foaming up and resting just at the edge of my glass. this foam fades down to a sturdy edge layer that remains throughout the sampling. There are a few lazy streams of carbonation rising to the surface.
Aroma on this beer is bready and biscuity mixing with some sweet lemon notes. Pretty mild nose, but seems suitable for the nose with what it presents to me.
First sip reveals a light body with smooth texture and very fine tingly carbonation. Adds some nice mouthfeel with the tingle, but its not aggressive.
Flavor is biscuity malt, almost like a scone. There is also some grainy cereal note and a bit of sweet lemon. The finish dries out and leaves me wanting more liquid.
I enjoy this kolsch quite a bit and am glad it is made only a few minutes from my house. I could drink this beer quite a bit this summer.
