[IMG] I have been neglecting this thread, my favorite weekly thread. I have been busy, but I always have new beers on hand. This thread is for the true beer nerds. I see so many I know I can’t find in my area, but wish I could get. I also find some that I don’t know about and with a little effort I can obtain. Just let us know about the beer, good, bad, or ugly. Take a few extra minutes to tell us about your new beer and join this great group of guzzlers this weekend.

Poured into a 16 Snulip glass canned on 7/05/23. Pours a very attractive milky yellow with a half finger sticky white head that leaves thick rings of lace with nice retention. 4.5

Aroma is honeydew, peach, passionfruit, hints of blueberry, pineapple, and apricot. 4.25

Taste follows honeydew, passionfruit, pineapple, peach, mango, and apricot well balanced. 4.25

Mouthfeel is above average, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 8% this is loaded with flavor, but still very approachable. 4.5

Overall this is really nice and if they brew it again I bet it gets better. This brewery has gotten much bigger this year and they are doing a great job of controlling the quality thus far. Well worth a visit. Cheers all and I hope to make up for lost time this weekend. 4.25

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz Teku glass canned on 6/23/23. Pours a hazy orange with a finger sticky white head that leaves a wall of lace, with nice retention. 4.25

Aroma is massive peach, mandarin, papaya, and apricot. 4.25

Taste follows peach, mandarin, papaya, and apricot massive flavor. 4.5

Mouthfeel is big, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and at 9.2% this has so much flavor and body, but still amazingly easy sipping. 4.75

Overall this one is for the extreme hop lovers. The flavor is rather enormous, I am a big fan. 4.5

Semi-impromptu light beer showdown! I have some Natty Light on hand due to some sort of nostalgia of seeing the old label design cans (even though I never drank it!), and ended up having a local light beer due to a rainstorm keeping me from leaving the brewery on my bike.

    Natty Light:
Appearance: Clear pale yellow, ok head at first, fades out quickly.

Smell: Vague hay/grass first, then vague sweet fruitiness?

Taste: Remains vague, following the smell, kind of light cracker taste I suppose. Very light bodied, it's light beer!

Overall: Had to pick up a 12 of the retro label to review. Natty light is infamous where I went to college (Iowa State) due to the basketball coach (Larry Eustachy) being pictured among co-eds from the U of Missouri drinking said beverage. Natty is slightly better than Bud Light, but has very little flavor, so I'll continue to pick up Miller Lite or Coors Light when I want a light beer.

    Barrel Theory BT Lite
    [IMG]
Appearance: Very slightly hazy pale yellow, lots of carbonation, good head.

    Smell: Maybe some slight hay?

Taste: Mild sweetness, then mostly a floral flavor, light and mildly sweet.

Overall: A rain shower came through while I was at Barrel Theory so I had another beer to avoid riding in the rain. BT Lite is a perfectly fine light lager, a little more floral than grain-forward. Light and refreshing.

Central Waters Brewing Twenty Five. Gold label. Aged 52 months in 15-year Pappy Van Winkle bourbon barrels. The look is pitch black with a touch of light brown foam. The smell is pure fudge brownie. There is an incredible bourbon scent. The taste is fudge brownie, vanilla, hazelnut, caramel, and it finishes with most most unique bourbon flavor I have ever experienced. The mouthfeel is thick, silky, and smooth, with light carbonation. Overall, this beer is the best version of this year's anniversary beer. Absolutely amazing.

Clear amber body; mild carbonation presence; dense, thick, white head, creamy texture; thick sticky rings and sheets of foam decorate the glass. Big cereal grain aroma; spicy, thyme and coriander; caramel scent. Balanced flavor; light malt with a gentle sweetness; a touch of phenol bitterness; herbal bitterness and flavor. Medium body; smooth; a hint of grain warmth.

A table bier with a nice, simple flavor profile and fantastic eye appeal.

Lupulin Sticky Puddles Piña Colada Imperial Fruited sour, 9% ABV. Pours golden with a five-finger off-white head that left real nice lacing. Nose is pineapple and coconut. Taste follows, with pineapple taking the lead, quite sweet, slightly tart. Excellent mouthfeel, overall near-world-class. If you like piña coladas, you'll like this.

Nose is vanilla and an indistinguishable fruit mashup. Taste is vanilla and pineappleorangeraspeberrygoldenberry, quite sweet, faintly tart, salt on the close. Thank you for kicking off the weekend @SawDog505 ! After watching you and others enjoy many great beers and breweries from New Hampshire including Kettlehead, I get my first crack at a New Hampshire beer courtesy of @Ocalafox , one of two I have for the weekend via his generosity.

I am now down to 7 states to go (Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Mississippi, North Dakota, New Jersey and South Dakota) plus two I have in my possession (New Mexico and Rhode Island).

    Kettlehead Pulpy

    Can Notes:
16 oz, no can date but I noted a 4/10/23 social media release date. Received 5/30 via package from @Ocalafox from BA, refrigerated upon receipt until this afternoon.

7.0% ABV, India Pale Ale. Brewed and packaged at Kettlehead Brewing Company LLC, Franklin, New Hampshire.

Meet Pulpy, he's a friend of ours and he loves juicy IPAs. This one happens to be his favorite. Triple Dry Hopped with a combination of Mosaic, Citra and El Dorado hops. And no there is no pulp in this beer. Drink fresh and enjoy cold.

    Appearance:
Initial pour about half the can into a shaker pint glass. Murky orange base, creamy bright white head leaves soapy lacing and a full creamy cover over the base. 4.25

    Aroma:
Sharp citrus notes, backed by grapefruit and pineapple. Strong and enticing. 4.5

    Taste:
Consistent with aroma, strong citrus really nice, took several gulps and didn't want to stop. Grapefruit and pineapple also prominent, a very nice juice medley. Already midway through, really enjoying and trying my best to finish the review before this beer. 4.5

Mouthfeel: Drinks light and easy, seemingly under the 7% ABV. A bit dry, with bitterness which counters but does not necessarily balance out the sweetness, though definitely brewed within NEIPA style / as advertised. Mild sweet / dry finish. 4.75

    Overall:
I usually don't reach for this style, but this beer is an excellent representation and one of the best I have. I really like the three hops and Kettlehead blends them excellently for this offering. The beer held up well over a long journey and over 3 months since canning. Perhaps it was more sweet fresher, but the beer at this stage is excellent. Expected a lot, got more. Excellent offering. 4.5

Thanks so much Vann, really looking forward to my famous Vermont offering planned for tomorrow.

We have a house full of kids and grandkids, things are a little crazy here. A good crazy. I drank my new beer several hours ago, now just getting around to writing this.
The beer is Azulito, a blue corn Mexican lager from La Cumbre.
Clear pale yellow color, modest white head that dissipates quickly.
Aroma of grain and corn, faint herb.
Grainy taste, faint corn and herbs.
Great summer beer, but nothing special.

Good afternoon, Weekenders! My first official post of the weekend comes courtesy of @Whyteboar : Firestone Walker Paraboloid, a variant of Parabola aged a total of two years in bourbon and rye whiskey barrels, clocking in at 15% ABV.

Damned if this isn't a worthy amplification of Parabola. I personally prefer a bit more depth and richness to the sweetness from a BA imperial stout, but that's not a flaw in the beer so much as personal preference - and I have the same take on OG Parabola.

There's frankly not much that could be improved with the nose, which is rich and powerful, showing off the bourbon and rye whiskey along with the huge malt base in approximately equal amounts. Honeycomb, chocolate, molasses, cherry, red grape, whiskey, brown sugar, toast, caramel, prune, leather, and a rather noticeable (but not aggressive) boozy bite.

Tasting notes are much more bitter, neutral, and roasty than the nose, but no less complex and rewarding: cherry, chocolate, oak, char, coffee, brown sugar, vanilla, syrup, molasses, red grape, prune.

    Overall, simply a fantastic beer.

Hello folks. A very fine collab brew here:
Modist/Burial/TRVE illbrewminati Oak-Aged Crimson Helles Lager 4.8% ABV
    4.18/5 rDev -2.3%
    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25
16 oz can canned 4/21/23 into a tall Lager glass.
L: Pours murky burnished red with a 2" khaki creamy head that has VG retention, lots of fine carbo bubbles, broken medium lacing.
S: Malty, a hint of sour green oak, light brown bread, raisins, cereal grains, honey, caramel.
T: Sweet caramel malts, moderately tart & juicy citrus, melon, toasted brown bread, cereal grains. The oak taste surrounding the beer has a distant vinegar note and distant smoke. It has a resinous linger that is kind of sour. Bold tastes overall.
F: Smooth, lightly juicy, creamy medium-bodied with a medium long smooth & drying finish.
O: It's a Rotbier! Sometimes oak can be nutty tasting or green. This example is green. I enjoy this beer at medium temperature, so I believe serving temp is critical as the malts are less muted by the wood this way. Great tasting and smoove. It is outstanding in its style.

Sibeeria / Barona Brewing - Lost in Transit

"Rye Session IPA" with Chinook, Amarillo and Nelson Sauvin hops, from the Czech Republic (5.4%).

Pours a slightly cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of biscuity malt and citrus and berry hops, with notes of grapefruit and white grape, with just a hint of pine as well.

Taste is a great balance of biscuity malt and fruity, slightly floral, resinous and spicy hops, with citrus and berry notes of grapefruit and white grape as well as hints of peppery spice and pine also coming through. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit, white grape and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

I'm really not sure why they are calling this a "Session" IPA at 5.4%, but it certainly makes for a nice Rye Pale Ale. You get that certain peppery spice from the rye, which goes great with the spicy accents from Chinook and Nelson, which also lend their typical grapefruit, pine and white grape character to this, while Amarillo provides more citrus and that certain floral character that I'm not too keen on personally, but thankfully remains largely in the background here.

Clear, golden body; very sparse carbonation; 1 1/2 finger-thick head, white and somewhat sculpted, long lasting. Grassy hop aroma; bread crust; a bit of tropical fruit. Mild flavors; scant bit of light malt; mild hop bitterness; simple yet pleasant sweetness. Medium body; crisp.

A decent collaboration beer that won't wow you initially but develops nicely, taste-wise, as it warms and opens up.

    Sibeeria - Blood Orange Gose

"Gose" (Fruited Kettle Sour), with blood orange skins, rosemary, coriander and salt, from the Czech Republic (4.8%).

Pours a cloudy, orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light doughy malt and strong aromas of blood orange and rosemary coming through, with just a hint of sea salt and coriander as well.

Taste follows the nose, with an excellent balance of doughy malt, blood orange, rosemary and lighter coriander and sea salt, with a great underlying lactic tartness. Finishes with a medium tartness and some blood orange, rosemary and sea salt lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

While I would hesitate to call this a Gose, it certainly makes for a rather enjoyable brew with a great balance of vibrant, fruity blood orange and herbal and spicy rosemary, coriander and sea salt notes, finishing with a great tartness. Very tasty, refreshing and easy-drinking, going down easy during the current, hot temperatures and leavinf a lsting impression on your tastebuds.

16oz can served in a big snifter. Can is dated 06/13/23.

Pours a murky orange-amber. Smallish dense head, moderate ongoing very fine carbonation. Smell is tropical juice, orange pith, earthy bitterness.

Taste is along similar lines, tropical fruit turns a little in the overripe direction, booziness is noticeable but not overwhelming. Bitterness takes on a brighter character, more pine and grapefruit zest.

Mouthfeel is medium, a little bit of dry chalky texture. Overall, very nice.

Cold IPA from Outer Light Brewing Company.
Sent to me by @Roguer who has absolutely no regard for other people’s front porch.
Poured more unfiltered than hazy with very active carbonation feeding the tall nearly white head. The foam took so long to dissipate that I started drinking from the can.
The taste was so appealing after the day I’ve had (transplanting 6 small trees, chopped some firewood, lawn mowing) that I quaffed half of it without thinking.
Eventually it occurred to me that I needed to describe the beer. Right, well, we covered the appearance, and a quick sniff told me my sniffer was still not working so on to the taste!
This was more soft than sharp, some honey, some grapefruit, some peaches and cream, a little more citrus and it all came together beautifully.
Maybe it was just the perfect situation for this one, not sure, but darn I think I could drink a lot of this.
    Cheers all!
