Here's a new-to-me from Chris Pappalo of Eredita Beer in CT. Chris brewed at
Hill Farmstead for a few years when I met him before starting up this venture.

    Bottom of can reads: 24038.
(Canned the 7th of February, '24.)

Moderate pour yields a one inch pure white head over a nice and bright golden body with sticky lacing.

Nose of lightly toasted bread, slight malt, and very slight citrus with noble hop aromas evident.

Taste has a slight malty sweetness married nicely to its near medium hop bitterness finishing nicely crisp.

Feel is very good with medium carbonation.

Overall, cheers to Chris (and his Dad's inspiration) for a job well done on this German Pilsner.

Maybe for these trainees, we should ask the master, @beergoot, what's the best medium? Or, in your memory, what are some of the best easily accessed beers for producing your magnificently improbable head?

New Beer weekend equals the last De Struise beer in my fridge. My son and I are trying Black Damnation XXIV - Octopussy. Not my favorite from De Struise due to the smokey flavor.

Opening the bottle produced a gusher of foam and beer. After cleaning up the mess, the pour appeared as a lightly cloudy honey color; nice carbonation; head was thick and white, spongy texture yet rocky in appearance, very long lasting. Fine, sweet malt smell infused with orange and raisin aromas; mild caramel and toasted grain. Very pleasant flavors; mandarin orange and spices; candi sugar sweetness; slight bitterness; a touch of alcohol presence. Medium-heavy body; sticky; semi-dry; soft with carbonation.

I found this beer to be fairly enjoyable overall. I didn't anticipate the bottle opening surprise, but the smell and taste were quite good.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

...a fine beer to sip while watching one of my favorite movies (and book - 'The Seven Pillars of Wisdom' by T.E. Lawrence - that it was based on)...

Lazy day here. Raw outside, lots of rain due in a couple hours. Rare time doing absolutely nothing.

Tonight's volunteer is a new to me brewery. Lamplighter The Upsidedown, a dark saison brewed with caramel malts and rye, fermented with a Belgian farmhouse yeast. Let's see what shakes.

Pours a deep cola color with some ruby tints. Huge tan head that lasts before falling to a thin cap, hefty ring, nice cling.

The smell is interesting. Grainy, a whiff of spicy rye, a bit of a toast. Very mildly smokey? Some fruitiness and spices. Belgianesque esters. Interesting and pretty laid back.

The taste is very malty - mild roast with a little milk chocolate and a touch of sweetness. Biscuity. Mild rye spiciness, some mild smoke character. ToffeePhenol spices, mild fruity esters. It finishes with bready notes, mild chocolate, slightly sweet. Peppery spices come and go, making a strong reappearance in the aftertaste as white pepper. There is a toffee undertone throughout and some clove popping in. This is fun to drink.

Feel is a little creamy, but it's fairly light. There's a bit of a coating phenomenon. It's a tad dry but the spices are inducing some salivation.

Very cool beer. I'm diggin' it a lot. It seems to borrow some Schwarzbier characteristics. Light, the flavors play well together - nice beer. Right around a 4.0. I've gotta hit the store...I suddenly need these:

    Canned 02/14/24.

Moderate pour yields a 1.5 inch light tan head over a dark brown body with sticky lacing.

Nose of dark malt, maple, slight wheat, and even slighter clove and banana.

Taste has the banana flavor coming forward very well with dark malts and maple present from middle to end with roasted malts coming forward near the finish. The wheat flavor is present throughout.

Mouthfeel is very full with medium carbonation.

Overall, the maple is not overbearing at all with near perfect intensity. This fine collaboration should be sought out before it's gone!

    Cheers!!

#2, this is the beer nerd trifecta (beer, glassware, bottle opener), and the beer is ….. pretty good, given my trainee status @snaotheus .

This is BA Blot Out The Sun from Three Floyds.

Pours black, settles black in the glass, and truly blots out the sun, with the body of the beer propping up a creamy mocha colored head that provides a surprising amount of lacing and a nice cap on the beer. Gorgeous BA impy stout.

The nose is a beautiful combination of the bourbon barrel (which is significant), stone fruit aromas (dark cherries and plums), and milk chocolate. I am shoving my nose into my glass like it’s a sponge to soak up this behemoth of a stout.

As you sip this beer, your beer nerd senses are subjected to the onslaught of flavors from the barrel (loads of bourbon and oak) and the base beer (milk chocolate, dark cherries, plums, and a nice little toffee note at the back of the palate, along with a nice warming from the barrel), and it all fits together perfectly. World class stuff here.

The mouthfeel is big and creamy, as expected. What a treat this beer is.

Brewers notes: We share this beer with you with a tremendous amount of pride. Typically brewed in autumn and left to condition naturally for several months in our horizontal stainless tank, Comfy Cozy emerges with an overwhelmingly smooth disposition carrying flavors of molten chocolate, caramel, toffee, rich dark fruit, and light coffee with a pleasant and pervasive smoky character.

It carries the most marvelous and dense head, an appealing start to the smooth, velvety beer to follow. Beers like Comfy Cozy represent the best and most energetic offerings we make—we hope you are able to enjoy it in good health and in good spirits with those you love.

Can purchased for my target in bif18 at Tree house Tewksbury , brewed “ winter 2024”

Chilled can poured into a willi becher, dark brown cola, liquid capped by a creamy two finger brown foam, cap with cloaking lacings, settles to a ring

Aroma is smoky roasted malts , bakers chocolate

Taste is smoky malts, chocolate , fresh brewed coffee

Smooth , subtle creaminess , good sudsing , gentle hop nibble on the finish

Not a style I would normally try , I prefer stouts over porters. This is really good , recommended

Arctic Devil (2022) aged in Blanton's bourbon barrels. 13.2% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a murky brown/dark red. A slight amount of head. The nose is really nice. A bit of citrus (lemon), toffee, sourdough bread, honey, and green grapes.

The taste is caramel, oak, bourbon, candy, plums, raisins, and a bit of honey. Lovely beer. Not boozy and the ABV is nicely hidden. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly sweet on the aftertaste.
