Social Project Brewing Mountain View Imperial West Coast IPA, 8.3% ABV; 3.99 overall

    Amarillo, Simcoe & Motueka hops

Pours a chill-hazed gold with 2 fingers of cream-colored head. Nice lacing & average-ish head retention

S: Green melons, tropical fruit, oranges

T: Follows the nose, dryness, pomelo up front. A little dryness, lime & green melon as this beer warms up, sweet oranges & passion fruit. Finishes with pomelo, a little lime & dryness

MF: Medium body, crisp carbonation, good balance

A little too not Old School as West Coat DIPAs go, still pretty drinkable. When you call a certain style, I am gonna some ding you some for getting a little crazy scent & flavor-wise

Gentle to moderate pour yields a one inch tan head over a black body with lacing.

Nose of dark roasted malts and chocolate malt with a bit of coffee.

Taste mirrors nose closely with milk chocolate giving way to a bitter finish of coffee and bitter chocolate.

Good mouthfeel with fairly lively carbonation.

Overall, a solid Baltic Porter and should not be overlooked if you see it on the shelf.

    Cheers!

Yep, she's a bit hazy. Golden to amber in hue, decent off-white fluff rises and settles in. Spotty lacing.
Nose is both citrus and grass, then comes a bit of pine and citrus rind.
Flavor follows the nose, but there's a slightly sticky sweetness that rounds things out. A hint boozy.
Mouthfeel is on the fuller side for style. Doesn't "feel like hazy" though.
Overall, pretty good but due to the high ABV, it's a one for the night.

I recently enjoyed (understatement) that one. Seems like we had a similar take.

Tree House - Queen Machine OG

16oz can served in a large snifter. Dated 02.27.14. Via @Roguer in NBS BIF #18.

Pours murky whitish burnt orange with a big fluffy head, settling slowly into thick webs and rocky outcrops. Smell is cut grass and pine resin with an undertone of citrus rind.

Taste is boozy with citrus rind bitterness and a little bit of juicy sweetness. Good, but not deep.

Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium, chalkiness is noticeable but not nearly as dominant as the other Tree Houses I've had today. Overall, it's good and I'm happy to drink it, but it's not knocking my socks off.

Pours a cloudy amberish with sticky foam. Fruity and juicy with the common orange taste, plus added citrus peel. Bitter and acidic, though less offensive than many others of the tribe. I like the lower ABV, which seems to give less thrust behind the sharp slash of the hop and yeast combo. Also, served really cold, but the anaesthetic is wearing off now.
