Brasserie Tandem (France) ‘Coup De Soleil’ DIPA.

The full 75 cl heavy duty bottle, poured cold, into a proper pint glass. Photogenic crop top of lather on hazy tangeriny color brew..
Aroma of tropical fruits, coconut, spice, citrus zest. Right fine bitterness, hop juciness, and alcohol warmth.
Mouth is medium to full, carbonation medium to high.
Overall, a great drinking French intrepretation of a well made American style Double IPA.

    4.25 in the BA DB

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 5/9/24. Pours a very attractive hazy yellow with a finger plus sticky white head that leaves thin streaks of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Aroma is peach, passionfruit, buttery Chardonnay, apricot, and a little white grapefruit rind. 4.25

Taste follows peach, passionfruit, white grapes, apricot, and a little hit of grapefruit in the lingering finish. 4.25

Mouthfeel is above average, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky or dry, and it has plenty of flavor at 8.2%, but still very approachable. 4.5

Overall this with Citra, Nelson, and Amarillo is very balanced and a very good NEDIPA. 4.25 Cheers all and enjoy your Sunday.

Smell: Floral malt in the nose.

Taste: Again some mild spicy floral notes. A dry mild hop finish.

The day will come when you can't even help them study, because they are learning stuff that you don't know (or have forgotten). Hopefully you haven't hit that point yet....2nd grade and taking finals? I'm going to be working for your kids someday!
So with the "we're without the kids this weekend" comment when I first read "but we haven't had much time to look, because we jumped immediately into...." I was expecting something different to come next, but then I immediately recalled the "15th anniversary" part of the post and realized you're about 14 years past what I thought you were going to say next. Happy anniversary!
Sounds like a brutal week. Glad you have the music to take you away, and plenty of friends at the virtual bar here. I'm going to bust out a beer momentarily, and will pour some out for your colleague.

I know most of you don't care, but huge final day in the English Premier League today. My favorite team (Arsenal) can win the title if they beat Everton, but only if the evil empire (Man City) #$%^ the bed against West Ham, which is quite unlikely. Either way, I'm going to enjoy a beer and toast an excellent season for the Gunners.

Anywho, onto the beer. This is Attempted Redrum from New England Brewing Co.

    Bottled in 2019.

This is a better looking beer than I expected. Amber color that almost perfectly matches the color of the bottle itself. Translucent, with just enough light getting through to brighten up the color along the edges. Plenty of beige head that left a persistent cap with nice lacing.

Aroma has loads of rich malts and fruity esters, with the rum barrels surprisingly still showing up. Taste also has plenty of rich malts with moderate hops balancing things out. Finish is sweet with distinct rum characteristics. Full bodied and velvety smooth.

Overall, this has been sitting in my cellar for five years, and I would have opened it much sooner if I knew how much I was going to enjoy it. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

Busy, the never ending string of viral infections a pair of seven-year-olds bring home from school, my wife’s crazy work schedule… All conspire at times to make joining in on the fun here a little difficult lately. Things seem to be slowing down though, as spring emerges. I’m hopeful I can get the shopping done for those boxes I’ve promised both you and @Whyteboar next week when I have some planned time off. A couple of the breweries near me have really upped their game, so to speak, so lots of good stuff to be had! Cheers, Zoigl twin!!

I’m sad to say that day arrived earlier this year when they were working on coding homework. My son lost me on that after about ten minutes of showing me the video game they are writing in class!

The study package is great really. It’s giving them a chance to look at all the different things they’ve learned throughout the year and is really building confidence as they see that they haven’t really forgotten very much.

    Cheers!

Appearance: Yellow-gold, particles in suspension, good head.

Smell: Pretty strong grapefruit aroma, hint of dankness.

Taste: Moderate sweetness up front, then a nice grapefruity citrus bitterness. Not super bitter. Some malty sweet body underneath and a moderate bitter finish.

Overall: A nice old school leaning IPA from 3 Floyds! Good grapefruit flavor and pretty solid bitterness. Good stuff!

    Batch 1 (bottled in 2021)

Loads of gorgeous head sits on top of a dark, dark beer with hints of red around the very bottom of the glass. Plenty of lacing. Very nice looking beer. Aroma has some cocoa notes, and a light malty sweetness.

Taste has some light roast and a nice subtle sweetness balancing it out. The flavors are subtle, but quite nice. This hides the alcohol incredibly well (blind, I'd guess ~6% vs. the actual of 11%). Mouthfeel is close to perfect. Creamy and full bodied, with nitro vibes.

    Overall, this is very good.

Another day and another new beer. Doing beer trades and travel gets me great beers that I can't get here. Yesterday I dropped off some beers with my friend Tim that I picked up on vacation, and he was just amazed with the ones he tried. He was almost in tears telling me how much he liked them. Moments like that really make the extra expense of checked luggage worth it.

This beer I'm having now is thanks to the awesome @turfy

Damn, this is downright delicious. I am not a wine drinker at all - it doesn't like me - but it looks like a Rose wine when pouring. The flavor is cherry that is mostly tart. Bubbly and dry finish. Damn good, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sending it to me.

Nice pink color. I am not a wine drinker but it looks like a Rose wine color. The beer is somewhat murky looking overall. There's a small amount of carbonation rising in the glass. The head that forms is a 2 finger very slightly off white head. Frothy and fluffy looking with mostly small bubbles. Retention is good, and there's some sticky, clingy looking lacing on the glass.
The aroma is very funky and tart smelling. The cherry aroma is tart smelling. There's a slight grassy aroma to this beer. Somewhat earthy smelling.
Taste - wow! The main flavor is cherry and it is mostly tart, though, a slight hint of sweetness does come through. This beer has a slight grassy and earthy undertone.
The body is good and full. The mouthfeel is bubbly. The tart feeling just lingers and clings in my throat. the finish is somewhat dry.
Damn delicious beer and an honor to try.

See you all later for another new beer.

A new beer for Sunday morning - Alesmith’s Coffee & Beer - Schwartzbeir, a collaboration with Wren House Brewing Co., and Press Coffee Roasters (with Mexican Chiapas Single Origin Coffee):

Poured at 57°. Deep ruby with very good clarity; quick creamy light tan head; poor cap retention; thin ring; no lacing. Roast malt/roast coffee nose. Taste follows nose; coffee and malt; mild bitterness. Light body; moderate minus carbonation. Overall a mild bitter linger from the roast; not a lot of coffee. An ok coffee beer.

This beer is not for me at all. It is way too sweet for me, and it just overpowers it. I just don't think I can finish it. I just took another sip, and, yeah, I can't finish it. If you're into sweet sours, you'll like it. I think for what it is, it's well made. It's just not for me.

    From a 16oz can. BBD 103 day of 24

Murky and hazy golden pouring beer. The head is a frothy and fluffy white color. The bubbles are tiny. The head retention is good, and there's some nice lacing on the glass.
Nose has a sweet lemonade aroma to it. Hints of grain also show up.
The flavor is like a very sweet lemonade. There is a small tartness to this beer, but the sweetness overpowers it for the most part.
The feeling is bubbly. The feeling from the sweetness does linger, and clings to my throat.
This beer might be good for some, but is not good for me at all.

Just back from a trip to Michigan to visit family. Great to see everyone, but it's always good to be home.
My new beer for today is Bavarian style Pils from von Trapp Brewing.
Gold color with a faint haze. Thick, fluffy white head that leaves a good deal of lace.
    Grassy, floral aroma.
Grainy, bready taste. Late hop bitterness.
    Crisp mouthfeel.

Massacre - Wolverine State Brewing - Ann Arbor, MI - Euro Strong Lager - 14.5% ABV

Damn, this is a boozy beer. It tells you early and often to take your time with it. There's a nice dark fruit element to it, and a good caramel and toffee hit. Woody, oak, strong, and very interesting overall. I am happy I got the honor to try it. Thank you Craig!!!!

From a 12oz bottle. No date on the bottle.

Nice hiss upon opening the bottle. This beer pours a very dark brown color. There's no light that shines through. The head that forms is a 1 finger tan color. Some creamy elements to the head. The head is quite long lasting considering the ABV. There's a slight bit of clingy lacing on the glass.
Rich malty aroma. Notes of caramel and toffee show up in the mix. I also get a nice hit of bourbon in my nose.
Taste - I get waves of flavor from this beer. I get a malty rye like flavor up front, that also has a dark fruit character. The flavor then goes to caramel and toffee. A woody oak flavor element appears in the mix. There's a bourbon finish.
This is a VERY boozy beer. There's a good burn to tell you to take your time with it, and sip it. Full bodied.
Very interesting beer overall. A lot going on here.

I'll see if I've got another in me after this.

    New Park Brewing's Nector.
Astute viewers of WBAYDN will realize that I had this beer Thursday also. Hey, its still like new to me. The label says it's a 5.4% American Pale Ale, but its a hazy IPA in my opinion. I have no information on this beer. The label only states what I have written already. It's not in the BA database, its not on the brewery's website, and the can is undated. Ominous.
Poured from an undated 16oz can to a nonic at fridge temp.
3.75 A bright yellow hazy body sits below a pure white puffy head that laces well.
3.25 There is a slight onion/garlic aroma behind some citrus notes.
3.75 The taste is better. Sweet lemon front, dank middle and a sour/bitter finish.
3.25 Mouthfeel is light for the style and carbonation is above medium.
3.5 Unsure of the age of this, but its not bad. If it's old I bet a fresh one is impressive.
